The passport picture rules weren't stated first so when I sat down she then tells me I cant have my hair in a bun ok fine I smiled for my picture and she tells me I cant smile couldn't you just tell me everything I need to know for a smooth picture? There were three people in my group who took pictures, one person paid for two persons pictures and another person in the group paid for the 3rd person however since we didn't pay individually one person didn't receive their pictures and we didn't realize until the next day and they accused us of not paying and we had to repay!!! Photo Stop has got to be the most conveniently located place to get passport photos in the city - right beside the passport office! Despite their primo location, they don't charge an arm and a leg for passport photos compared to other places. $13.99+tax for your two standard passport photos, and only $6 for two extras, which I actually needed for a visa application. The lady taking the photos was very efficient and professional. She told me my bangs couldn't be touching my eyebrows in the photo and waited patiently while I fussed over them to fix them. There is a screen right beside you that shows the photo after it's taken so you don't have to get up to look at it, and she had no problem taking another one for me when I didn't like my first one. Trust me, I NEEDED to have a good passport photo this time. You don't even want to know the terrible picture I had to live with for five years. I've had more than one foreign immigration officer ask if it was even me! Yikes... All in all me and my husband got four sets of two photos and they were ready in about 5 minutes. He could go get a head start in the passport line while I waited for the photos. They also have some frames and a couple of travel items for sale. Thanks to Karlie's review, I went here when I needed to get my photo taken for my Canadian Citizenship application. The service here isn't exactly friendly - it feels more like an extension of the government offices nearby. The office was crowded and I found the line-ups confusing. I inadvertently cut in front of somebody ahead of me. The woman at the counter scoffed at me as she informed me of my faux pas, and I then found my proper place in line. How embarrassing! However, they process their photos very quickly and know what they're doing. They also know how to move a high volume of customers through their process in a short amount of time. They can take passport photos, citizenship photos, and a number of other special photos. Prices are fairly reasonable. And if you want to get your Alberta Health Card, Birth Certificate, or Alberta Blue Cross card laminated, you can do that here as well. read more

In my opinion, this is the best place to get your passport photos done. Save your time by not going to Walmart or Costco. My photo from Costco was rejected by the passport office. Someone said that this is often the case from these places; one small error and the photo is rejected. The Photo Stop does a high volume of passport photos, so they get it right and seem to have greater knowledge of the requirements. They are quick too, there were a few people there and they seemed to process everyone quickly. The price is moderately more, but it's worth through saving the frustration and time of getting them done elsewhere. read more

This place is very efficient. They are not exactly very nice to you, but they aren't rude either. They get the job done and don't waste time. The main advantage of this place is that they specialize in passport photos and won't screw them up. Pricing is ok compared to other places, but it could have been better. Consider that you are paying $14+tax for 2 printouts that take 5 minutes to take from start to finish. They used to charge $5 extra if you want a digital copy. It is surprising that everything is still done by human workers. With current level of technology there should have been a self-service booth for that. read more

The process is seamless: wait for your turn, have the photo taken, make sure it's good, pay, wait for it to be printed, pick it up and then go to the Passport Office with these photos. The ladies here are absolute PROS at taking infant passport photos. My 7 week old baby's photos from Walmart were rejected at the passport office, so I stopped in here to have them reshot rather than leave and come back. One take - it took 5 seconds. I had my passport picture taken this morning at this location. The lady taking the picture just waited for people to sit down and "click", it's done. She took my picture too fast too. Yes, I could review the picture on the screen but I couldn't review it carefully because a long line up of people right there. My pictures turned out ugly, not sitting in the correct position and the hair cover the ears which are not the standards for passport pictures. Because they're professional and we pay them money, they should have check the pictures for us. it's weird that the passport officer still accepted that picture but I will have an ugly picture on my passport until it's expired. There are four ladies at this place, so if you're lucky, you get the real photographer taking the pictures for you, otherwise, you end up having the picture taken by the cashier or non-professional photographers. read more
