A 35mm roll of color film plus cd was about 9 pounds. I might skip the cd next time and just scan the ones I want to post online later. But great experience there. But, after all that, then you have the pricing. Good web sites beat John Lewis by around 30%. John Lewis beats most high street stores by around 10% - and often give a better warranty. Other high street stores are probably 10-20% cheaper than Spectrum. When you add it all up, the real cost of buying here is phenominal.

Nigel who took the photos was very friendly however I was not shown the photos or given an option before printing. The photos provided were unusable and rejected by the passport office as they were taken against a dark grey background. I went back in to the store the next day where I was offered a replacement however as the photo printer was broken I would need to wait 20 mins. In fairness the background was much improved but instead of receiving a set of 8 different photos (as with the first attempt) I was given 4 photos - of what I assume was the worst shot. This is not a photo I will be using in my passport. I have since given up and gone two doors down where the cost came in at £6. It also turns out this is where Nigel had gone to print out the photos charging a considerable markup. To cut a long story short - avoid at all costs. Rip off merchants.

Snappy snaps is a huge franchise. You can see their yellow shops all around London. I'm reviewing…read moreone particular shop location on Finchley road near swiss cottage. Here is my point of view: I go there to process films from non digital camera and I was disappointed 100% of the time by the service. Last minute additional fee because they considered they worked fast, random extra charge for cross processing happens sometimes, poor quality of scans with extra high compression...I've obviously never been hassled and the job was always done eventually but I always got that bitter feeling that it wasn't an easy experience. The only enjoyable feature to me is the 30 minutes processing while you do groceries or something, but you have to pay for it ! I probably used their services about 10 times because the proximity was convenient but I wish there was another shop available. Unfortunately only large business chains seem to hold on in London and this industry is not especially growing. The prospect of a local competitor opening is unlikely.

We have done studio shoots here and still use their family portraits. They have made passport photos for all of us. They have made prints, they've made cards, calendars, mugs, even photo tote bags for the grandparents. In fact, they have overseen the photographic evolution of our family, from when our kids were toddlers right through to now, when they are in their 20's.
