A 35mm roll of color film plus cd was about 9 pounds. I might skip the cd next time and just scan the ones I want to post online later. But great experience there. I was there ages ago for passport photos. Easy peasy process that time too.

I went to get some passport photos for my kids from here as it's only place which does them…read morelocally. I managed to get my photos and they were provided in minutes which is good but I just wanted to raise a couple of issues. Firstly, I had to pay for 6 photos per person as this is the minimum number they provide. I only need 1 photo for my kids' passports and I dont need an additional 5 photos as they don't have any other forms of I.D. Normally the minimum number of photos is 4. Therefore there is a lack of flexibility and it's just an excuse to charge more in my mind. The second issue was the smell inside the shop. It wasn't pleasant and I couldn't wait to leave.

Their customer service is very friendly and they are always happy to see me and generally all the customers entering their shop. They have a range of photo services including ID & Passport photos. The last time I needed photos for my passport and just a couple of minutes after they had them ready. And the price they charged me for these photos was really good!!! If I was going to have them in the photo-shop next to my embassy they would have asked me the double price.

But, after all that, then you have the pricing. Good web sites beat John Lewis by around 30%. John Lewis beats most high street stores by around 10% - and often give a better warranty. Other high street stores are probably 10-20% cheaper than Spectrum. When you add it all up, the real cost of buying here is phenominal.

Nigel who took the photos was very friendly however I was not shown the photos or given an option before printing. The photos provided were unusable and rejected by the passport office as they were taken against a dark grey background. I went back in to the store the next day where I was offered a replacement however as the photo printer was broken I would need to wait 20 mins. In fairness the background was much improved but instead of receiving a set of 8 different photos (as with the first attempt) I was given 4 photos - of what I assume was the worst shot. This is not a photo I will be using in my passport. I have since given up and gone two doors down where the cost came in at £6. It also turns out this is where Nigel had gone to print out the photos charging a considerable markup. To cut a long story short - avoid at all costs. Rip off merchants.

Not only is snappy snaps the only company to still have an inkjet printer - the staff were all lovely and incredibly helpful. They went above and beyond to help and were funny and kind while doing so. 10/10 would recommend :)
