I have been coming to this photographer for passport pics: he has specs for lots and lots of countries : I got pics for Greece and GB , and was very pleased from the outcome, price wise too. He has a nice collection of family pics on the wall, from ceremonies too, I would definitely consider him for family portraits :-) Very professional, efficient and attentive at his work! Passports or family portraits? I recommend Photo Express for both! While traveling through Edinburgh, we found out our lawyers needed passport/visa photos from us "toute suite". We found Photo Express online and Toby had great reviews. Now we know why! Service was top-notch with a genuine care for the finished result. He even used a light reflector screen (placed beneath you) to get a beautiful sheen to your skin! Nice touch. I also loved that he took multiple shots and showed them to you (for approval) before you even leave the chair. I also was impressed with how Toby was able to make us smile naturally with his quick wit and disarming charm. Judging by the fabulous family portraits on the walls, it's clear that he is a talented photographer. It's no small thing to get an entire family smiling naturally but he seems to do it easily! We experienced that without even posing for a family portrait. Passport photos are already dreadful but Photo Express was a pleasure! read more

about two weeks ago i sent my US passport away to get renewed. about a week ago i got a letter from the US embassy in london telling me the passport photos i'd sent weren't the right size and i had 90 days to send the appropriate sized ones. in a massive panic, i frantically googled US passport photos in edinburgh and up popped Photo Express! after a quick scan of the site i saw the photographer did US photographs, but was only open til 5pm during the week and i already had plans for saturday morning which ruled out that option. however, i called the shop up and asked if there was anyway they would stay open just after 5pm on friday so i could pop in to have my US passport photos taken. Toby (the photographer) was super nice and agreed he would leave the shop open a bit after 5 so i could get there after work. on friday i power walked like a mad woman to get to the shop for 5pm, thankfully even a few minutes before and the shop was opened as promised. Toby was finishing up with another client so i took a seat for a few minutes while he set up the studio for my photos. as he got things ready he showed me a place to put my bags down and even the mirror complete with hairspray to fix my hair or makeup for the photo. once ready, i grabbed a seat a few minutes later he was printing my photos out as i happily paid and was on my way home. so a great place if you're looking for US passport photos! it's £10 for two, but since you pretty much can't get these anywhere else in edinburgh it's worth paying for. it also appears that he does photos for special occasions or portaits in his studio. i'd definitely come here again if i was in need of a speciality photo! read more

Took my elderly mother, who had previously been defeated by several automated photo booths, for some passport shots. Very pleasant, very quick and great value for a hassle-free experience. Couldn't have hoped for more. read more

The photo was not what I normally look in pictures. The photographer took it purely on a technical basis to satisfy passport requirements. He did not seem to care whether I liked it or not which was quite different to the satisfaction guarantee given on the website. read more
