The accommodation was amazing. Couples had their own rooms (as did each single person on the trip). The food was delightful. It started with fresh scones and home made jams when we first arrived having flown on a small plan to get to the island as I don't think you could get there any other way?!Our guide and photography mentor was Ric Wallis - who was brilliant. Ric made us all feel very comfortable as he knew the locals and every spot on the island... I've attached some of my shots - but please don't judge me as I went with my husband who is more the passionate photographer than me. I was wondering whether the trip would be too much for me who isn't really into photography like my husband. To be honest, I was really going to enjoy the serenity while giving my husband an awesome gift as he's so passionate about photography. It turned out that Ric was able to adjust very well to the expectations of each guest. He gave more one-on-one advice and help to those who were eating it up and wanting in-depth technical help. But he enabled me and another photographer's partner to get involved if we wanted or just enjoy the incredible scenery and serenity of the island when we just wanted that. He kept checking in with us though and the other person who was there for his wife rather than for himself ended up actually really getting into photography. He started out with just an iPad and wanted to learn how to use that better on their holidays. But by the end, I could tell he was so into it that he was probably going to buy a proper camera and even get more into it than his wife down the track! Basically, I just LOVED IT. I want more - both for my husband and for me. read more

History
Established in 2010.
Ric Wallis, a successful professional photographer, hosts the trips and shares his knowledge about how to create "what's in our mind's eye". A photographer all his life, Ric started early, studied at RMIT and worked as a commercial photographer for over 30 years. After working a few years as an assistant, he established a profitable business shooting celebrities from stage and screen for the ABC, Crawford Productions, Channel 7 and various television magazines. As a licenced pilot, Ric shoots fine art aerial landscapes and ground based landscapes, recently exhibited his series, "Post Apocalypse" and before that, "Over Eyre". Photo Escapades came about by combining his passion for photography, flying and nature.
Meet the Business Owner: Ric W.
Ric Wallis' weeks can be as diverse as shooting in a gold mine in outback Western Australia one week and fashion in the studio the next. Photography is still his deepest passion and passing this information onto guests who take a Photo Escapades trip is a privilege!
