Collins Handyman Services & Remodel - Scott Collins finds this an acceptable repair.

    Collins Handyman Services & Remodel

I would like to recommend a handyman service. I see posts on here all the time about how difficult…read moreit is to find reliable people to do good work. This business really deserves to be one you call for a bid. It's Collins Handyman Services & Remodel LLC, 208-202-0178. We had drywall work we needed done. We had 4 bids done and their bid was not the very lowest bid, but was very reasonable. When Scott came out to do the bid we immediately were impressed with him and felt very comfortable with him. He truly is a jack of many trades. His experience impressed us and he communicates well. The reviews for his business were excellent, which says a lot. Scott and his crew were on time, they completed the work in 2 days, they did a good job, they were thorough, and they cleaned up totally when done. We have other projects we will need help with in the future and we will definitely call Scott again. I'm really happy to recommend this business . It is such a pleasure to feel relaxed and confident about the work being done, a rarity these days.

The following is a review / complaint that I have hesitated to write but it is time. I am an…read more82-year-old Boisean (I no longer live in Vancouver Washington) widow who contracted with Collins Handyman Services & Remodel LLC of Nampa RCE - 62903 (Scott and Nena Collins, co-owners) to repair household damage mainly from my late husband's power wheelchair, which included tile and grout damage in the master bath--Invoice 1313 paid in full November 7 for the re-grout work and Invoice 1307 paid in full October 9 reflecting more painting and repair work that they did, particularly another item that was not completed: remove heavy duty wrought iron curtain hooks in living room, patch/repair holes/paint and texture if needed. Scott finished the master bath grout repair November 7 except the sealing. Nena indicated that "we were not able to seal it as we didn't want to rush it while it's still drying...so after this weekend, I will contact you on Monday or Tuesday (November 10th or 11th) to schedule another day to come in and seal it. You are able to use the bathroom and shower just be careful not to let anything stain the grout until we seal it." Therefore, I didn't use the master bath for months because I was afraid that I would spill toiletries or makeup on the unsealed grout. During this same period of time, Scott obtained a large fireplace replace / remodel job which occurred after my work was already on their agenda. From that day forward (November 7), Scott did not show up again in spite of me continually working with Nena toward a reschedule. On December 1st Nena finally texted me that she would like to get Scott on my schedule for December 5 because they were back on their "fireplace job". Nena continued with text exchanges to present me with possible reschedule times; nothing panned out for Scott's schedule. I was here and available on every date they presented (except December 5 for an ER visit for my left knee / sciatica injury); December 9 ("Scott is sick"); December 17 (no show, "Scott had a crazy day"); January 9 (I inquired again but Nena didn't respond until January 12 because "they are playing catch-up "so she offered a reschedule on January 21. On January 21st Nena responded with "I was going to message you last night but we got home too late. Then we had to be in Boise by 7 am this morning. Just got back to the office. Scott was not able to finish up his job that was supposed to be done yesterday. I'm gonna (sic) have to find a different spot to throw you back in. We're just trying to fit you in between our jobs." On January 29, I texted Nena my February schedule for review... still holding out hope they could fit me in for the final grout sealing and for finishing the drapery hook removal process. They did not respond and made no further contact. Did they really plan to return or perhaps offer a partial reimbursement for incomplete work? Unfortunately, on February 12, my shower drain backed up (not sewage) and flooded the bathroom so the unsealed grout job was ruined. I called Nena on Feb 14 and again on Feb 26 to let them know what happened. My call went to voicemail. Neither voicemail call was acknowledged, answered nor returned. Shortly after the flooding occurred, broken grout pieces were revealed as they were not removed in the threshold area before the regrouting was done. It appears that the broken pieces were simply grouted over, which was another huge disappointment. As a last resort, I sent them two (2) separate certified letters (one on March 19 and one on April 6 both with the same content) requesting some recompense for incomplete work by April 15. They did not return either of the certified mail receipts. However, they had to have received them because Scott finally sent me an e-mail response on April 13 indicating that he failed to return to finish because there were "scheduling conflicts" and that they weren't responsible for flooding damage, and that I most likely had neglected plumbing issues or leaks in my home, and wanted photographs to prove the damage. However, his email indicated that they "remain willing to engage in good faith discussions to seek an appropriate resolution" and "remain committed to addressing concerns in a fair and professional manner". This e-mail was followed up by them with a certified mail letter (it was the same April 13 e-mail he sent earlier but a hard copy with their original signatures (I signed for it April 23). Still no effort on their part to finish the job, view the damage, "engage in good faith discussions and address concerns in a fair and professional manner" with me. Thus, this review. If you want to see the exchanges, let me know.
