I'm a huge pho lover. The broth had a good flavor but it didn't taste like the homemade broth that I'm used to having back home in Houston where there are a lot of authentic Vietnamese restaurants. It wasn't bad at all though. They are pretty stingy with the meat in the soup and side of add ins. I literally only got one branch of cilantro with 3 leaves on it. Which i laughed to myself when i saw it lol. I'm sure i could of asked for more if i really wanted but decided not to. I'm used to getting a pretty good size plate of bean sprouts, cilantro, basil, jalapeños, and a lime. They gave a tiny plate of bean sprouts that i could of quickly counted, 2 slices of jalapeños (which i don't usually use anyways), a tiny cilantro leaf, and a lemon. I've never had pho with lemon. It's usually lime. So that was an interesting thing as well. I would come back due to there not being many pho options in Abilene. But i wouldn't necessarily crave their broth. Food & drinks are great and come out very fast. Kids dishes are super small and a small side order of fries cost $5 but other than that the non-kids food have good flavor and are a good size. The people who appear to be the owners aren't really friendly and don't interact at all when you arrive or leave or while you're there for that matter. The waiter & waitress we've had the last two times were nice but always seem rushed. Overall we go there because our kids enjoy the Allen ridge lawn and play area after we eat but definitely not somewhere that makes you want to go back because of their service. read more

Everybody likes Pho! Don't they? I've eaten at Abilene's regular pho spots over and over. And their all good! But will I try a new place? Let's go! Phoenix Pho is part of a new development by Abilene Christian University. Seven or eight shops with a BIG pond behind them. All shops have decks or patios facing the water. It's great! There's a jogging or walking trail around the pond. When you enter Phoenix, it's very minimal. I think the new word is industrial. The entire back wall is glass facing the pond. Pretty cool. I ordered the pho special and the bun special. I just discovered the cold vermicelli noodle dishes about a year ago. Now their one of my favorite dishes. The pho was great but I didn't go wow. I'll try the Pho Tai and see if that rings my bell! The bun special was very, very good. It comes with shrimp, beef, pork, and egg roll. The sauce that goes on this cold dish is just wonderful. The very crispy egg rolls were just right. I like crispy! We'll definitely come back to try the Banh Mi, and hope for a nice day so we can sit on the waters edge! See you there! read more

I'm somewhat new to the Pho world but I must say this place was very good. I ordered the Pho Special and asked for mine "spicy" and they nailed it! Perfect level of spice and flavor. I love that we have more options in Abilene that weren't readily available as they are in more cultured cities. That being said please offer thai basil with your pho it is an essential ingredient. The bean sprouts looked a bit dry as if they sat out over night. The broth was great but I'd like the option of having beef broth over chicken. The menu placement makes it seem as if it's one or the other. However, your technology and cleanliness got you the fourth star. Stopped by with my GF on Saturday. Had the Pho, it was delicious, but I will not order the spicy again! I eat a lot of spicy food, but this was dynamite in my mouth. Way too spicy. I think they need to tone it down. Returned today with hubby. We shared the dumplings and each ordered the pork Vietnamese sandwich and an order of garlic fries. Quite disappointed. The dumplings were swimming in oil and the fries were tiny and limp from the oil also. Could you make a steamed dumpling? The sandwich was lackluster, nothing to write home about. So sad. Tried it out for the first time today! Staff was incredibly nice and accommodating. Service was fast and, though the pricing seems like a lot at first, you get quite a lot of food for it. This was my first time having Vietnamese cuisine as well, so I couldn't compare it's flavor or authenticity. The shrimp fried rice and brisket pho were both incredible in my personal opinion though. I've heard good things about their milk tea with boba, but I personally got a guava green tea without boba and loved it. They have lots of variety in meats as well as drinks - I was really impressed and appreciated that. You can also ask for an oily spice or sriracha on the side, so it's good for all spice tolerance levels haha. Possibly one of my favorite parts is how close this is to ACU! Been living in Abilene for less than a year and haven't really been out to explore the food and this place was kinda on our top list. Went there today and was very excited but as soon as we received our food I was not too excited anymore, lol. Got the phoenix special, meat portion was a disappointment. The broth was sweet and it had an after taste on my tongue. the popcorn chicken was baby bite size and not fresh. Husband got chicken and rice, it was overwhelming with sesame oil, rice was old and hard. It's is more of a fast food pho place. The only reason that I'm giving it a 3 stars is because the drinks were pretty good. I would go back only for the drinks and that's it. I've had way better food and I was hoping this would be the spot but it didn't meet my expectations, food wise! I was so glad to see a new restaurant open that isn't a chicken place! Their pho is delicious and well worth the trip. We've tried a few appetizers and they are excellent too. The popcorn chicken (for the kiddo) was clearly hand breaded and cooked right there- such a nice change! They have a variety of Vietnamese dishes, smoothies, and boba. Update on my previous review: I waited. I came back. The annoying timer and disgusting towels shoved under the doors were all gone. My mother and I went to get boba tea (their tea is delicious!) Unfortunately, they added a ton of ice; my mother took three sips and it was already half empty. So I went back inside and told them my mom did not like how much ice was in it and was wondering if they could make a new one. The gentleman just stared at me in silence, so I asked to pay for a new one with light ice. He rang me up without a word. Always had a good experience, this time it was trash, took over 5 mins to get greeted, check on us once, food was good. We even said thank you when leaving, didn't even get a response.
