Fast becoming one of my favourite places in town. Me, the girl whose commitment to exercise for…read moreyears has been picking up a pen and writing with it. After working my way through 2 years of nasty grief and health problems and other assorted issues (thanks, pandemic), I was determined to turn over a new leaf and begin really taking care of myself. Over the summer, I began walking around my neighbourhood, but I knew I wouldn't be able to keep it up over the winter. This place is so incredibly close that it fit the bill for contintuing my commitment to fitness. The indoor track is now my second home. I do at least a kilometer each time, and I like that they reverse the direction each day so you get a different view. It also overlooks the activity in the gym below, so you can chuckle at the kids doing karate or playing indoor soccer in the wintertime. There's plenty of exercise equipment. The Lifecycles are great because you can watch TV or internet, and power your usage with your movement. There's the studio where they have all the classes (Zumba, cycle, etc), the gym for basketball, volleyball, etc, and the workout room. Last weekend I got brave enough to try the pool. A little chilly when I got in, but the water was actually pretty warm once I was in a while. The day locker rooms are nearly immaculate. I like that there's a wet and dry locker area, with the handy cords for your locker key that you can put around your wrist while you work out. For an additional price, there are enhanced locker rooms with overnight lockers, towel service, etc. Everyone I've met here, staffwise, has been friendly and approachable. Make sure to wipe down the equipment after you use it. One of these days, I'm going to try out the smoothie bar in the lobby. Can't speak to the daycare or children's programs since I don't have kids, but I've seen all kinds of activities for them in the gym since I've been coming. If I was a parent, I'd definitely consider enrolling my kid in some classes or daycare here.

So my kid took ninja classes here for about 3 years. And the first two or so years were lovely. But…read morein the past 6 months the quality of the classes has decreased for my kid. Not only that but the staff communication has become contradictory and frustrating. Some of the coaches are better than others, sure, but my kid did get at least one bleeding nose that wasn't spotted by the coaches that day. Repeated nagging on billing issues that were already resolved, email advertising for a PD Day camp on a day that wasn't a PD day but rather the national day of Truth and Reconciliation, disorganized classes, and the no longer availability of lockable lockers for belongings all contributed to a worsening experience. There is now a lot of competition in the kids ninja gym space so we will go elsewhere. Sadly this was one of the only facilities that catered toward the really young kids when we started here, and it really was excellent at first with good transit accessibility, awesome coaching staff, and more. Now, the formerly 1 hour classes are only 50 minutes, some days there isn't even an obstacle course, and the seating in the viewing area is less comfortable. Following this business's NIMBY anti-safe consumption space advocacy, I find it hard to encourage anyone to go here. I definitely find that a lot more parents are unsatisfied with the kids classes. Plus it is quite cold in here.

I didn't realize they split…read morethe gym in two parts though - one side for regular gym/fitness class stuff, and the other side (aka the fun side!) was for obstacle course practice/technique/training!! ** I am so going back for round 2 to experience the obstacle stuff!** The shop is quite spacious for the size it is, and easily hosts workout groups for 10 :) This place is kept pretty tidy, with everything back in its place for easy access for the next group, and the group members voluntarily also help put it back They have lots of free weights and treadmills, couple of different sizes boxes, balance balls, and some other fun stuff not shown in the pictures (like the heavy tires outside!). The trainer I had for the class, Stacey, kicked our sorry butts to the corner of the street and back! Her great energy and enthusiasm spurred us on, considering she was carrying a little human in her belly! I tip my hat off to you Stacey! In a nutshell, Great place, great peeps, and a burning desire to play on the other side!

I mainly went for the pool today. The change room had those lockers that you punch in a 4 digit code and it saves it and locks it for you. Just remember the code and your locker number. They have the typical 25 meter pool and a kid pool with water jets and beach entry. I seen something called a 'lazy river' which looked like a sort of maze you could meander through, which was kind of interesting. I think these are all salt water. I believe I seen another pool as well that looked shallow, but deeper then the kid pool. Theres a hot tub thats actually pretty large. I seen a steam room but it was closed. Additionally I seen a water slide, as well as 3 tiers of diving boards. Its not too shabby for catching a swim but it would be nice if they had a sauna.

Having…read morealready been to at least one other kid's ninja facility in the past I know that this one is HUGE. And it has some really hands on and HELPFUL instructors. Even the staff that greeted me at the front desk were helpful and communicative. The bleachers included ample space to watch the goings on of a kids class. The coach really made sure my kid had a good time and checked in before and after the kid's first class. They provided enough support for the kid to learn but not be too discouraged by set backs. I also really loved that it was mostly structured time with lots of obstacle course time and effort on the various pieces of equipment. Fitset Ninja also offers so many other things from kids camps to special events and competitions though I'm not familiar with any of those just yet. Probably the only downsides of my visit was not noticing a unisex restroom and it being a bit far from some transit and parking is a bit scattered... but honestly the fitness/fun programming offered seems outstanding. The obstacles themselves seem really well used and maintained and that is the focus. My kid had a blast and I look forward to many days spent here in the future.

The price is almost the same as any drop in but more pricier because you get the whole day if you stay but not everyone is going to stay the whole day. The pre made obstacles are somewhat doable depending on your previous experience. You could do the whole obstacle which is what most people pay for and loop it again if you have more energy. Each obstacle has its challenges so make sure your up for pulling your own weight because physically you will be. See photos attached for a rough idea. You aren't forced to do it so that's nice you can skip some obstacles. However it is mandatory to fill in a waiver form electronically or paper if applicable. Lockers are somewhat small to large but limited, you can bring your own lock or rent theirs for $1. I did at least most obstacles and their staff is friendly so they will give you a quick tour. There are other activities too if obstacles isn't your mood, such as axe throwing, room trashing for a few mins, and some sort of race track on the side, plus a kid obstacle course too but it's not that great. I look forward to their official place which will be somewhere close Kingsway mall. Recommended for active parties, and people looking to try something different for fitness. Go with a friend it will be much more fun. Share the struggle lol.

It's a large facility, and the equipment appears well maintained, other than some mats that look pretty beat up. The staff have been awesome. My daughter loves her coach; she is so patient and nurturing. I also love the small class sizes, which allows for more one on one attention, and it doesn't feel crowded. We participate in the parented class, so I can't comment on how the seating area for parents is like upstairs, but it never looks too crowded to me from my quick glimpses. Highly recommend this place. It does an amazing job of exposing my daughter to various equipment in a fun manner and tires her out.

The hot tub, steam room and sauna are great as well. The change rooms are ample and while the family change rooms get rather busy, the facility is really well maintained for its size and location. The majority of those present follow the COVID protocols well and take good care of the gym. In our visits, most folks have been properly masked and very few others have been present in the gym. There is also a bus stop nearby and ample parking. As a youth, I swam here for high school swim meets at least on one occasion. As an adult I've enjoyed my time here. The women's change room shower that has the hand shower is the warmest. All locker room lockers can be used with personal locks or be used with 50 cents. There are free lockers in the lobby for valuables. There is also a very small viewing area and lots of space to watch on deck.
