I CANNOT SELECT 0 I went there this afternoon and the old lady asked me what I want to order (no showed me the menu) I order rice vermicelli noodles with lemon chicken and 2 veggies spring rolls, the lady kept telling me a number and I told her I don't know your restaurant food numbering but I told her what I wanted is rice vermicelli noodles because I have sensitivity to gluten and not tomatoes because of allergies ... anyway I went home and when I open my food, I have a big surprise that instead of having a rice pasta I got a regular pasta,; I called them and instead of telling me sorry we can made it to you... they didn't care and told me ok the number on the menu was wrong next time chose #15 because we used regular pasta seriously? The whole online menu mentioned only rice vermicelli, and I don't even know the menu numbers, they didn't show me the menu when I was there. We have been back a couple of times since my last review. Subs are still an outstanding 5/5 - they are awesomeness in my books. The pho was actually quite delicious as well, servings were decent in size but what bothered me was the skimping of the beef, I maybe had 5 slices in the entire bowl and my husband who ordered the large had not much more either. Love that they use cilantro and the broth itself has a little of that oily feel that I find gives the broth that extra richness. Great all around balanced flavour but a touch over salted. Spring rolls only came with the fish sauce and no plum sauce, I know its not a traditional viet sauce but the kids like it and several places do at least offer it. Got a weird look when we asked for it and a little attitude but, whatever. Severe points lost on the slow AF service; they were too busy catering to skip the dishes and pick up orders instead of the restaurant which as about 80% full. Only one guy was taking orders, serving and busing tables. It took about an hour to get our spring rolls and another 25-30 min to get the mains. Absolutely needed to have at least another person on the floor and in the kitchen to keep orders in order! Totally pissed around 7-7:30 by the time our apps came out and told the guy checking us out that it was not cool that we were there for over 1.5 hours for pho. He basically said that those skip the dishes and pick up orders for take out call in and he does his service that way and said he will lose money because people will cancel orders or not pick up. Well in theory if I'm sitting at the restaurant and I place my order and decide to walk out right before you send my meal out because I have been waiting for an hour you can also lose money that way too, no? I don't feel that's the right way to run a small business, cater to those who make the effort to dine at your establishment and will tip you well on your food and service, and have them come back. I think it might just be better off I ordered take out. Those who did all got their food packaged and ready to go before our apps got to our tables and this was an hour in. Unimpressed with the dine-in service, but pleased with the pho and subs. Overall, will have to settle on a 3.5, its a decent viet place and owner seemed really nice, food was above average, clean interior and bathroom, decent location in the deep NW. Will order the subs to go and come in during the lull either before or after the dinner/lunch rush. read more

This little place is new and is in the mall by the Nolan Hill traffic circle. It is bright, clean and staffed by pleasant and efficient folks. Since moving to the Sherwood area, it has become our go to Vietnamese location. Initially, I would have the Tofu over vermicellii ( I am vegetarian ) but have since gone on to have what I consider to be ThE BEST Vietnamese sub in the city, the best I have ever had. Its a lemon grass tofu sub. You can also have different variations of subs, but without a doubt they are the best, layers of flavours and topped with crushed peanuts.... the level of detail on the sub is what sets it apart from so many others I have tried. This restaurant has become increasingly busy since they opened - I hope the trend continues as they certainly deserve the business - check them out, they are great. read more

This is your run of the mill pho place. I've been to several pho places in Calgary and this one was close to my house so I thought I'd try it. I got the beef with flank pho with half noodles and extra beef. When they brought it to me I asked if this is with the extra beef? Our server checked and came back letting me know, indeed it was. I would hate to see what the regular order looked like. It's not bad, it's not the best either. I'd go back for the convenience but they are stingy on the beef. read more

I just recently moved into the area and had to get my bearing by scouting out the restaurants nearby. I'm glad there's a decent Viet place should I have a hankering for pho or vermicelli and don't want to venture far. For the record, the pho sate is VERY spicy. As is their sate beef noodle bowl. Both delicious but you will be guzzling glasses of water. Seeing how they are an up and coming restaurant, it's very clean and the service is top notch. I hope they continue to keep these two things as they progress. read more

Pho Sate is one of those places we all see but never try because they look like a little hole in the wall. However, if you don't try them, you will be missing out. The decor is pretty plain and seating is limited to a handful of tables. However, the food makes up for that. I am a huge fan of Vietnamese cuisine, especially Beef Sate' soup and theirs is quite tasty. I have it on good authority that it is an old family recipe. I'm definitely a Sate' soup snob and there aren't many places I will eat the soup twice. I go there specifically if I'm craving sate'. My family had the vermicelli and they enjoyed it. The spring rolls were also excellent, hot and fast. Service was friendly and attentive. I've now gone three times and I've never been disappointed. read more

Very good service. The restaurant looks clean with soft Viet music that is not too loud. The seatings are quite comfy. A good place for a relaxing lunch and casual chats with friends. Their regular water is lemon infused which makes it taste very refreshing. The noodle soup is pretty good portion with decent pricing. The overall taste is quite good, although I do find the taste of the soup somewhat like powdered and not from scratch. Fresh beansprout and a good generous portion in comparison to some other stores closer to DT. The bowls are also ceramic unlike some other joints with cheap plastic and faded pattern. During Monday to Friday, their lunch menu is a really good deal. A good sized salad roll, a bowl of vermicelli with your meat choice and a drink for only $11! Every time I am back, the restaurant seems to improve in someway. I'd definitely be back again. read more

Moved to Nolan Hill not long ago, and as a hardcore Pho enthusiast, I have to say that this place is one of the greatest Pho restaurant I have been to in Calgary so far. The prices are good, service is awesome and friendly, and the amount of food they give you for the price is great! I highly recommend their Pho dac biet. read more

Well first off - they caught me on my check in! ;) we ordered the xl beef satay soup and chicken salad rolls. Both were fresh and good! The broth was hot and spicy but not too intense. Maybe just a touch on the oily side, but I would rather than than too little. As in my check in I was quite hopeful that it would be better than some of the other Viet places in the northwest and I was not disappointed. My wife and I will absolutely be back several times. I ordered from skip and it came on time. Everything was going well, until I tasted the food. The spingrolls and pho were just meh. Nothing exciting or interesting. I even got sate and it still tasted bland. Dumpling were the worst of all. I seriously think they had those dumplings for a week because it was stale and acidic. We had the spring rolls , pho sate and the rare beef pho (pho tai). First off. It was not busy at all on a Saturday lunch time. We had to ask for a pot of tea. The soup for the sate is missing the dept of the sate. tastes too weak and diluted and more like MSG enriched. The pho soup is too oily, can really taste the beef fat and too much anise taste. The spring rolls is way over priced and the filling is too mashed up with too much taro and not enough meat NOT authentic at all. Will not go back, there are better places in the NW read more

This place is a great neighbourhood noodle house. Every neighbourhood needs a noodle place, and if you're in the area, this should be your go to. The prices are good, the service is friendly and nice, and you do get a hefty amount of food for what you order. Lots of parking in the area, and pretty convenient to get to. read more

Good food for price but waitress didn't seem focused at all. My parents wanted to try a new Vietnamese restaurant so we came here. The waitress was too busy talking or not paying attention to us that our order was not correct. There were 2 couples that arrived after us and she took one of their orders before even attending to us. Personally, I don't care whether they are regulars or not, you should serve on tables the order customers had come in...even just asking if we needed more time or not would've been more thoughtful than completely ignoring us. She eventually took our order (more than 5 minutes) and in less than a minute took the second couple's order, to which they received their order first and the 3 of us were shocked because we all ordered the same food. However, we ordered two #26 and one #11 but we got two #11's instead and were disappointed to have to wait for our second #26 but luckily it didn't take very long. read more

Thought I would give it another try after about 3 months. This evening was slightly better but still below average. The lady taking orders was not friendly whatsoever. I've given this restaurant 3 chances based solely on the fact that it's within walking distance to my house. The first visit resulted in what tasted like boiled chicken, noodles and quail eggs in water. It was bland, tasteless and inedible - I gave up after 5 bites. The second time of stir fried curry chicken on rice was slightly better, but still far behind any typical/authentic Vietnamese curry dish. It lacked depth, the chicken was dry and the typical creamy curry goodness was missing. The most recent visit was the best amongst the three with regular pho. I only call this the best because compared to the other two, it was better. If I was to compare it to other pho restaurants however, it's absolutely not up to par. The broth was thin, lacked depth and needed generous amounts of Hoi sin and sriracha to enhance the flavor. To give it some perspective, I'd rather drag my hungover butt halfway across the city for good pho than consider coming here. 2 stars for good service and that it's close by if I'm reaaaaaaaaaally desperate though. But seriously, don't mess with me and noodles. read more
