He immediately called me when they diagnosed it as not the transmission, but most likely the catalytic converter and muffler. And called BEFORE diagnosing further at $89/hr, so I could decide. When I went to pick it up he amazingly didn't charge me a dime for the diagnosing they did do. All he charged was a "friendly handshake" . In less than 10K miles the rotor and caliper was destroyed on the right and the left was on it's way to rotor destruction. They also used cheap replacement parts. Friend of mine took his truck there for a very small engine oil leak. Was told the leak was from…read morethe transmission pan (spoiler alert, it wasn't!). So a new filter and pan gasket was installed. My friend brings the truck back because the oil leak has not disappeared. They then tell him that it is coming from the power steering pump. So they install a brand new power steering pump and a hose. Truck now leaks oil MUCH worse than it ever had before. I finally get the chance to take a look at it because he's just about ready to park the thing because of how much oil it's going through. Turns out, an oil line they had replace when changing out the power steering pump (that it didn't need) was only hand tight, or vibrated loose because it was not tightened properly upon installation. They claimed their insurance wouldnt cover the cost of repair, even though the damage happened on their property, and while the car was under thier care. i understand some of the wait time was for machining which is understandable. but denying responsibility for the damages to the car, while under their care, and being rude not just to my mother but also the insurance agent.
