I don't recomend this buisness they have had my grandsons 94 Suburban three times and every time they have had it they have had to order something throttle bracket a detentcable after they rebuilt the transmission now it's back in the shop something to do with the torque converter. read more

I see others left bad reviews, but for me it went well. I challenged Phil with a 40 year old S-10 truck that had a hard to get parts for T-4 4 speed transmission. It took some extra time to locate some of the parts, but was able to locate them in South Carolina. The owner of Phil's Transmission, Phil Woodward, called me personally to give me updates. That really meant something to me. Be patient people. If this stuff was easy you would be doing it yourself. Hank gave me what I felt was a fair a quote. Bill was detailed and under the original quote. This was for a complete clutch rebuild and it now works great. My go to guy used to be Mel's Transmission on Maple Rd, but he is no longer with us. Phil's is my new go to guy for transmission work. And for those customers complaining Phil's was too busy to jump right on their car as soon as they get there because they're so busy, this is a good sign' not a bad sign. Be patient people. They replaced a trans in my 98 chev van like 14 yrs ago. We drove that van at least another 80K before we sold it, 10yrs later. Never had an issue. Did excellent work. Have taken other family vehicles to have transmission checked and they were always honest. Gave us confidence and we have referred them several times. We also have a 99 chevy Tahoe that they test drove and told us it goes into Limp mode (kinda hiccups) occasionally and that limp mode is actually protecting the trans. Gave us a reasonable quote if we chose to rebuild trans....or we could keep driving it until it gave out....that disgnosis was like 10yrs ago and we still drive and maintain that Tahoe. We probably have put another 100K on it since that diagnosis. Tahoe now has 287K miles on it and still occasionally goes in to Limp mode. Phil gave an honest diagnosis and didn't try to take our money. We trust his experienced opinion with any of our vehicles. We go out of our way to get his diagnosis if we have an issue with any of our family's vehicles...referred him again this week. That's why I went to this review. Had to promote good service. Especially after a few negative reviews from impatient people. If ya want something done well, it's a good thing the business is busy. I think theyre the go to trans repair because theyre honest and most knowledgable. Ive been there for minor problems like messed up vacum lines causing my car to not shift, etc. they fixed it within 10 minutes and didnt charge me a dime. read more

Phils is to busy for any new customers. Set a date for repair 4 days in advance you get there and they don't have time to do the repair. Had I been told they were busy I would have had the work done some place else the next day. Dont waste your time go to a repair shop that honest and straight up with you first. Try to help them with their problem of being to busy. Go some place else. read more

I had a transmission rebuilt a few months ago. They offer lifetime warranties on their work, so I felt good about it. The work was done on time, and within the amount they quoted me for the work. Ran great for a while. We then moved to Alabama shortly after. Everything continued to go great until recently when it started acting up again. Started out as a minor problem, and even took it to a couple of places around Alabama to see if what I was hearing/feeling was even the transmission to begin with. No one here could figure out where the noise was coming from. It continued to get worse, and I even called Phil's Transmission and spoke with them about it. They offered a couple of suggestions, and I had those checked too and still couldn't figure it out. Then this week, my wife and family needed to go back up to MI for an emergency. I figured it would be a good time to get it back to Phil's. I called and explained the situation, and they said they would work with me on the timing, because of the emergency trip. And they are true to their word! They took it and found the problem. They are working on replacing the torque converter in the transmission, and have promised to have it back to my wife before the planned trip home. And, because it's still under warranty, it won't cost me anything! Great experience! Great staff! Highly, highly recommended! read more

Got a new transmission October 2015, went out May 2017 again!(Yes I had my oil changed and fluids checked every 3 months and no I did not have a fluids flush done) Only gave me 1 year warranty for my transmission and cost me almost $1700. They don't stand behind their work. So now my 2005 Trailblazer sits, while I pay it off! Don't use them unless you like to piss money away! read more

Phil's Transmission is an excellent place to have your car fixed! People who can't run their own business try to run others. When you bring the wrong parts and expect the business to fix your car that day is an unlikely fantasy. Get a life and stop trying to run down others.
