Tldr: Sheldon was incredibly rude to me about supposedly ghosting an interview years ago. When in actuality I had contacted him and he failed to respond to me. Completely unnecessary and unacceptable behavior. Bad customer service. I submitted a resume and was asked to call back for a phone conversation to start the process. I was matched with Sheldon. When we were beginning the registration process, he realized I was already on file and his attitude completely changed and he became very rude. He informed me that I had been asked to do a video interview with him two and a half years ago and I logged on and out and didn't respond to his voicemail asking what happened. He was confrontational about this and asked me if I remembered this. I apologized and said I didn't (it's been 2.5 years) and told him it had probably just been a connection issue. He rudely said "well what can I do for you now?" as if he's been holding this grudge. Maybe he just had a bad day, but it felt very unprofessional and he ended the call with this tone that felt like he wasn't going to assist me because of this, which is unfair. Being the professional I am, I sent an apologetic email about not following up 2.5 years ago. Then I went through my texts with him and saw that I had actually followed up about the technical difficulties and had asked to reschedule, and he never responded back to me. Even if I hadn't, it would have still been incredibly unprofessional for him to talk to me like that. I'm sure having people not follow up is frustrating, but it's recruiting. It's part of the industry. And it definitely does not mean that you get to talk down to people because of it, especially if years have passed. And I was communicative both 2.5 years ago and today. They are an agency that doesn't respond to emails and doesn't respond to their own sms messaging system even if they contact you in that way first. Looking for employment can be frustrating but being demeaned (especially for something you didn't even do) is not something anyone should have to deal with. I would not recommend this place. They need to learn better communication and customer service. read more

If you are willing to work hard *as a professional* at the job in which you are placed, Philly Temps and Perms will be a great fit. I interviewed and was hired for a week-long convention position which paid exceptionally well. We used an online app to check in each day and to record our hours. I received payment within two weeks. Afterwards, I was contacted numerous times for other work. I found Christine to be sincere and empathetic however, she owns the business and it's her reputation on the line so she's not interested in people who won't go the extra mile. There's an added bonus with PT&P: its office is on Walnut Street, right in the middle of Center City's hustle and bustle. If you're out of work and feel a little low, it's exhilarating in a way to walk amongst all of the busy people on the street, enter the historic building and take the trip up the old elevators. read more

Stay far, FAR away. While this agency may help you find a temporary position, and the people are generally nice enough, the agency as a whole is incompetent and unreliable. They got me a few part time gigs, and then six months later called with a temp-to-perm position, promising a decent salary and benefits. What they conveniently forgot to mention is that I would have to work a minimum of FOUR MONTHS before the company would take me on permanently. Then, when it was time for me to end my time with Philly Temps and take a permanent contract with the new company, they stopped answering calls and emails. The new company I was working for even called Philly Temps, and got the same unresponsive treatment. After three weeks of agonizing "negotiations", and having to chase down Philly Temps employees to actually go through with negotiations, I was finally employed. While I appreciate the job I got through them, the process was a nightmare. I would not recommend this agency to anyone. read more

I found out about Philly Temps rather unexpectedly--while walking down Walnut St. one afternoon, i saw a message written in sidewalk chalk on pavement in front of their office. Since i needed a job at the time, i i called their number and ended up moving Drexel students into their dorms for two long, tiring days that somehow managed to be enjoyable enough that I was excited to work another event with them, this time as a stand-by registration typist for an event at the Pennsylvania Convention Center (which is where most of my experience with them has been). Working that event really solidified my favorable impression of them and convinced me that this was a company I could trust. After an issue with my pay (the result of the event organizer's disorganization or possibly dishonesty), I feared it would be useless to point out the discrepancy, since i've had issues in the past with other employers being less than honest. However, John from Philly Temps quickly worked things out with the client and kept me aware of what was going on, and in the end, I was thrilled when he guaranteed me I would receive the compensation I had earned. That bit of extra work on behalf of a new employee is, frankly, more than i would expect from many employers, and reassured me that Philly Temps was really just a NICE place to work. Fast forward two years--Philly Temps has always been there for me with work when i'm in between jobs, or just need some extra income. The pleasant work environment is further incentive to do my best work every single time i'm on an assignment for them. i think I can honestly say that whether you're an individual looking for work, or an organization putting on an event, you'll be very happy with your experience with Philly Temps. read more

Philly Temps is a great agency. First their employees are friendly from Lori who handles the checks to Alexa who put on me on assignments to John and Tina who I have also worked with. I reached out to Philly Temps after seeing an ad on Craigslist. I sent my resume and got an email pretty quickly. I then took a prove it test and came in for an interview. The interview was pretty much standard and Alexa was very welcoming and thorough in explaining everything. She tried to get me an assignment that week, and the next week I was working. This was the fastest placement ever that I received at a temp agency. My situation was unique, and I wasn't really expecting too much so they exceeded my expectations. The assignments that I have been on or been offered have all fit exactly what I was looking for, the pay was good and they were at nice places. I do wish they offered direct deposit, but most of my assignments have been near the office, plus they are open early and will mail your checks. I recommend them to my family and my friends, and to all of you reading this as well. read more

Philly temps is the best ! They are clear and to the point which Is hard to find with many agency's . The staff is amazing and they ACTUALLY HELP. By that I mean they set you up with a job you would actually like and fits your needs not just any position . I also enjoy that they employ a diversity of people. I have met some amazing people while working with Philly temps . Another great option they give you is pre-interview prep which I think is a great touch . read more

My experience was great and, to be honest, exceeded my expectations! Philly Temps found me temporary work during the summer to make ends meet while I was finishing up my Master's degree. They found me a position pretty quickly and one that almost had me contemplate a career change! I worked a few different gigs throughout the school year and talked to other types of employees working for Philly Temps, too. I owe it to the staffing managers, they are really preceptive and do a great job matching people with jobs they will appreciate. And in return, I think the employers also appreciate having a well suited temporary candidate. In the end, Philly Temps can help you find an invaluable work experience to those that are realistic with their goals and willing to put in the work to have them accomplished. *Word to the wise* Find someone, anyone, to edit your resume and cover letter before you send it to them. The better you represent yourself and your employment experience, the better Philly Temps can represent you to bigger/better companies in the city! Happy hunting! read more

The people here are nice (from what I remember) but they're full of it. I registered here nearly a year ago. Based on positive reviews I thought they'd be able to find me work, especially since they sent me out on an interview in less than a week. That job didn't pan out and I haven't heard a peep from them since, even though I email them every week to tell them I'm available. I realize the economy is horrible and that's not their fault, but I see them putting out ads on craigslist every other week. They shouldn't be putting ads out there and getting people's hopes up knowing that they don't have jobs available. read more

My partner had a graphic design gig lined up with Philly Temps, and when the client stopped communicating with my partner, the agency did also. Repeatedly he attempted to let Philly Temps know that the client was not in touch with him anymore, even though he had put about 40 hours of work into the project. Philly Temps refused to return phone calls, never paid for the work he did, and the client got a free, nearly finished product. Want a trustworthy temp company? Avoid Philly Temps. read more

This company really and truly does not care about you. There are other agencies in the city, look to those for help. Philly Temps is run extremely poorly, and the internal staff is extremely rude and unprofessional. The other reviews saying they just shun you after a while is completely true. If you rub them the wrong way you'll be cut off completely but without any notice, and instead they'll just ignore you. Very disappointing experience. read more

horrible...they say they can help you find at least short term employment, but in all honesty, they don't have enough jobs coming in for everyone. I was here in may, called every week, nothing. by October I had given up on them and started applying for jobs again. They are rude and could care less. I was able to get employment without their help. Not trustworthy or helpful. AVOID AT ALL COSTS read more

Christine is amazing and she truly cares. I give them a 3 because they are hard to reach even when repeatedly applying to positions they post. When you do connect, they really try to help you. read more

I've had mostly positive experiences working through these gals. I've mostly done short assignments with them. They are flexible with my schedule and have welcomed me back after periods of absence - so that's pretty nice. The wages are never quite high enough, but work is work! read more

This was my first experience working with a temp agency. I was burned out from working many years in retail and had some basic office skills I thought I could build on, but was having a hard time even getting an interview anywhere decent on my own, and got discouraged by online job sites after sending in my resume for several promising posts only to receive scammy emails in return, not to mention tons of spam. Philly Temps got me started with some short-term work at a convention, and soon offered me a longer-term call center placement which I didn't think was quite what I was looking for - but they didn't make me feel bad about declining, and in fact made it very clear that they wanted to find the right fit for me and for the employer. The very next position they offered me with was with a local college, where I worked for about 6 months as a temp before being hired as a full time staff member! The Philly Temps staff members I worked with were all very kind and accommodating, and I'm truly grateful for their efforts. I also appreciate that the company is locally owned and can offer more of a personal touch. All in all, I could not be happier with my Philly Temps experience and have recommended them to friends without hesitation. read more

I laughed out loud when I saw the 1.5 star rating of Philly Temps as of this writing. I am not surprised in the least! These people are ignorant, rude, inefficient and genuinely do not care about you. All you are to them is dollar signs and when you try to do anything to help your own situation, they will toss you away. Please DO NOT USE THIS AGENCY. You will regret it. read more

I was in a weird spot with my graduate degree and wanted a part-time job without committing long term to a company. This was a viable option. The application process was a little lengthy. It made sense to me on one level - you need to test people's typing skills if they are going to be typing. On the other hand - I am getting my doctorate....it should be obvious I can type! I got a couple jobs right away. One job was recurring, which was nice. I eventually found my own separate employment (it came up suddenly). Everyone at Philly Temps was nice and professional. They were good about getting my paychecks out quickly. For someone in my situation, it worked out nicely. I would have continued to work with them had I not found my own employment. One big con - there should be a mobile or online way to track hours. Everything was done via paper. It became a little annoying when I had to drop the sheets off at the office in person. It was usually on my way home, so not a huge deal. It might be more troublesome for folks who don't live downtown. read more

Philly Temps is an excellent business partner! Christine the owner is great to work with and very accommodating to our unique business needs. Our contact, Risa, was phenomenal in every way! Excellent communication, always going above and beyond, working hard to meet our changing needs and making sure we had the people we needed, sometimes on very short notice. I would highly recommend utilizing Philly Temps for your temporary staffing needs! read more

PhillyTemps, and my contact Alexa especially, have given me great opportunities and helped me make many new contacts amongst potential employers. I highly recommend calling them if you're entering the job market after a long employment. read more

I have worked for PhillyTemps mainly doing Registration at conferences and seminars in the city. In my case, The Staff explains what kind of workshift, needs of the client, and if it can match your own availability then work requests are offered. Staff will email, or as a temporary contractor it is best to reach out to them! Change always occurs in the Temporary employment field! They can gain new clients, new openings occur in a similar situation or more. Nancy P. read more

One guy ruined the my whole experience with the company. I had a great experience with the other ladies. I was told to check in every week to let them know that I was still available for work. I checked in every week since the day I signed up for their service. I called on 3/16 to check in and I was informed by the guy I think is named John that I haven't called since 2/22, I tried to inform him that was not correct and he basically called me a liar because it is not in the notes. I asked to speak to the manager and she basically told me there is nothing she can do it is in the past now. I understand things can fall through the cracks but they are a business that people count on to find employment and I trusted them to have my back during a rough period. I can deal with an employer not choosing me based off my qualifications, but I'm not ok if I'm losing out on opportunities because they're not accurately recording my check ins. The manager told me that they are short handed, maybe they should use their own clients to temporary fill the void. read more
