I recently had the pleasure of working with John and his team on a full kitchen renovation, and the…read moreresults have absolutely exceeded my expectations. From the very first consultation to the final finishing touches, John was not only the lead on the project but also wore multiple hats as the designer, general contractor, and master craftsman. His level of dedication and skill at every stage was both rare and remarkable. What truly sets John apart is his proactive approach and clear communication. He kept me fully informed throughout the process, always offering creative solutions and thoughtful suggestions that elevated the overall design. His eye for detail, paired with his craftsmanship, transformed my kitchen into a space that's not only functional but truly beautiful. Equally important, John was incredibly fair and transparent--qualities that are just as valuable as the technical skills. It's clear he takes great pride in his work and genuinely cares about delivering a top-tier experience. If you're considering a renovation and want someone who brings passion, talent, and integrity to the table, I can't recommend John highly enough. My kitchen is now the heart of my home--and it's all thanks to his outstanding vision and execution. I put a few before and after photos below.

These rooms were demolished "to the studs" and completely rebuilt. We were very pleased with the work he and his colleagues did, have asked him to do other work on our house, and recommend him strongly. Johnanthony brings to his work excellent building skills, great intelligence and creativity, perseverance, honesty, kindness, and friendliness--and a fine sense of humor, an important asset in dealing with the frustrations of renovation work. And there were a lot of frustrations on our jobs. Our house was not well designed, and many shortcuts were taken in its construction. Being a kitchen-and-bath-renovation general contractor is a very difficult profession, as you're constantly fitting new wiring, plumbing, appliances, and other work--all the fundamental systems that make a house work--into an existing structure, rather than being able to "start fresh". In our case, the difficulty was increased by the "inherited" problems in our house. And we had problems with delays and incorrect shipments from suppliers, and we caused some problems by changing our minds about some things. Throughout all of this, Johnanthony worked hard and thoughtfully to solve problems, to figure out new ways of doing things as the structure of the house required initial plans to be modified. When problems came up, he worked with us to solve them. When we had warranty issues--bad finish jobs on a couple of our cabinet doors--he made sure that the vendor replaced them, and installed the new ones at no cost to us. Johnanthony was very consultative with us and made it clear that our happiness with our new rooms was his highest priority. We felt that Johnanthony's pricing was fair, and he was very clear about his billing process. We felt that he was completely honest.

After selecting our remnant, we were rushed into choosing our templates prior to the installation the following day. When I noticed a spot marked with a green X, I was assured it was a small hole that would be filled with epoxy and we would never notice it. We moved forward based on that assurance. When the counters were installed, we found 10 to 15 visibly mismatched epoxy repairs and a noticeable scratch. The one repair I had specifically asked about was the worst of all. A technician came out the following week, acknowledged the repairs didn't match, and admitted our salesperson should have disclosed them -- but suggested most predated Colonial's purchase of the stone, meaning we were sold a heavily repaired remnant with zero disclosure. What followed has been four months of inexcusable customer service. I called 3 to 5 times per week and almost never heard back. When I finally reached Wendy in management on April 2, 2026, she was unaware of key details and said she'd follow up with the service department. It is now June 1, 2026, and I have not received a single callback since. I want to be fair: the counters themselves are beautiful, and every service technician who came to our home was professional and exceptional. This is purely a failure of customer service at the management level. We live 45 minutes away and have busy lives, but we are now left with no choice but to drive there in person just to find someone willing to speak with us. We were prepared to give Colonial more of our business. Instead, we have been ignored for months over an issue that -- at least in part -- was clearly their responsibility. The lack of basic decency in returning a customer's call is something I never expected from a professional company. I would urge anyone considering Colonial Marble & Granite to think carefully before trusting them with a significant purchase.

Our challenges started with pieces that were not cut to spec and had to be returned. Shoddy work on the edges and finishes compounded our frustration. Pieces were installed crooked and had to be fixed by our contractors. Add in poor communication from the sales and customer service teams and it's obvious Colonial does not care about their customers. I will choose someone who does next time.

They have a blog on cabinet ratings - incredibly helpful. I got a bid from a Northern California contractor that uses a local cabinet supplier/importer. Those cabinets were in my budget but didn't meet the quality criteria listed in the article. This article also listed ratings for more than 50 brands, including ones that they don't use. My other contractor offered two manufacturers in the blog at competitive prices. The brands this company uses to design kitchens for their clients were rated best. There's no benefit for this business to rate brands they don't sell. But the information in this article helps so many people. If this business gives articles like this to the public, I am sure they will provide top notch service to their customers.

He listened to our priorities, concerns, and talked through all of our questions. I also greatly appreciated that he communicated equally with both me and my husband - this was very important to me as I found other businesses had a tendency to address only to my husband by default. Paul helped us brainstorm creative ideas for redesigning our kitchen space and provided a lot of helpful advice and customer education. Paul was patient, communicative, and timely. He also linked us with an experienced contractor who made our kitchen a reality. We're incredibly happy with the result of our renovation and would not hesitate to worth with Paul and Main Line Kitchen Design again.

We hired Reico (and worked with Cindy) for a full kitchen redesign, and the most important element…read morewe asked for was an island that would seat five people comfortably, with storage on one end. We were extremely clear that the seating needed to be unobstructed--essentially, a counter-height table extension from the cabinets. The final design we approved included an apron, but no measurements were provided to explain how it would impact stool clearance. The rendering even showed five stools at the island, which gave us confidence that it would work as intended. Unfortunately, that was a huge mistake. Because of a poorly designed apron, it is physically impossible to fit standard counter-height stools under the island. The clearance is so low that no stool exists that both fits under the island and allows you to sit and eat comfortably. In other words, the centerpiece of our kitchen--the island seating--is a total failure. It is appalling that a professional kitchen designer would overlook such a basic and critical detail. We assumed we could trust her expertise, but that assumption has left us with an island that cannot function as designed and no reasonable options to fix it without a major renovation. If you are considering working with this company, be warned: do not assume the designer has considered the practical details. Double-check every measurement yourself, because we learned the hard way that they do not.

Based on our designer/contractor interactions, however, we were still considering Reico, even with the markups! But, the level of responsiveness dropped dramatically. Before we knew it, we were informed that our designer (the great lady) was "no longer with the company" and I now have all these spam-type calls from random people I don't know at Reico. Rude.

We were really impressed with the selection, and happy with the service. The staff knew everything about the stones they carried, and had tons of background info and tips for both design and installation. We selected some beautiful marble for our bathroom, and cannot wait to go back for subsequent projects. Our finished tile look is gorgeous, and even our tiling contractor was impressed, and asked us where we got it. Prior to finding out about this place, we had used some marble from Depot, which our tiler complained about to no end. We had no idea that the lots Depot buys (on the way-cheap) are cut so poorly. Our tiler could not get any 90-degree angles out of the box, and ended up having to cut everything several times over just to make it square. Ridiculous. On the contrary, the marble from MTO was so nice, our tiler was praising us for buying stuff that made his job so easy. Best part was, the imported Italian marble we got at MTO was a wonderful price, especially compared to Depot, and especially considering the quality difference, both in the sloppy cuts from Depot tile, as well as the caliber of marble itself, which is far superior at MTO. I never thought box store quality would beat a place like MTO, but I got a real education in just how big the difference is. I am so glad we found this place! We will be back!
