Before I saw my current doctor, I chose Philip Tse. I thought I found a good doctor with good reviews but I am wrong. There was immense apprehension to see Dr. Tse because I don't feel okay waiting for him to be late. The care quality is not as good as my current doctor but I still think it's very good that he is very well experienced. If you are not here for kidney health please do not make any efforts to see him. I would not recommend him for a physical check up and just settle for a clinic that is managed by VMed. You will get better results in other places instead of this joint. However, I like the fact the medical offices are very close to Santana Row because they don't require me to drive a lot just to see one doctor. If you are medi-cal choose other options. read more

I would not recommend not because of the doctor, but because of the office operation: for any prescription or referral from this office, the staff make no effort to follow up. for example, if the specialist is not available for an extended period of time and there is a need to change the referral, it's going to be a very painful process to keep calling the office again and again and again, before it can happen. It is a worse doctor office practice ever. I visited office for first time for annual checkup. 2 months later I got billed for that even though my insurance should cover that 100%. I looked in to the claim. This Doctor office charges twice for "new patient fee" for $350 (I never see any doctor office charge for that crazy reason) and $250 for checkup. Not only that, the second "new patient fee" was characterized as diagnostic service for 45 mins but listed as "new patient fee". I only there for 15 mins for annual checkup. My total bill for annual check up is $250 +$350 +$350 ($950). Bottom line, just avoid this doctor office due to the ridiculous amount charging up front (new patient fee). read more

Dr. Tse saw me for an annual check up. This was my first appointment with him. I had to go during my infant's nap (while his dad was wfh in meetings to watch him-a very hard thing to do). Dr. Tse was 30-45 min late to the appointment. Ordered labs to rule out some symptoms me and my ob thought was whacky post partum hormones at play which was good of him to do. But he scheduled a follow up 1 month post visit to go thru labs which I thought was odd-bc don't you have to look at them first? I got labs back, normal aside from a borderline number that can be improved with diet and exercise. I messaged him to cancel follow up appt and to lmk if there's an actual concern to pls ctc to set up follow up. He said he had NOT SEEN/reviewed my results yet but that is not his practice to not have a follow up appointment and to find a new pcp. I find this highly alarming as I do not have the time with a toddler and infant on results that were normal. He did not interpret the results. read more

I've been a patient here for about 6 years. I started going here when I was pregnant. Somehow I picked him to be my primary care physician. I was happy for the first couple years. But slowly, the service here became horrible. This guy barely works! It's so hard to get an appointment. His staff never gets anything right. Dr Phillip Tse has made rude comments to me on multiple occasions. I won't go into details but he has no tact nor does he seem to give a crap about his patients. He would belittle me and treat me like I was stupid and didn't know what I was talking about. He speaks to you in a very condescending tone. He's always late. It's a guarantee that you will have to wait at least 30 plus minutes to be seen. A few years ago I had a blood test that came back with high blood sugar. Dr Phillip Tse wrote me a lab order to get my blood checked in six months. So 6 months later I did just that. Fasted for my blood test. Went and saw the dr after to get my results back. And he goes, "what can I do for you today?" He never seems prepared when I come for my appts. So I say, "remember I had blood work done, you were supposed to check my blood sugar to see if it had dropped." He then tells me that he didn't put for my blood sugar to be tested and he only tested my cholesterol. I was pretty irritated because I had worked really hard to try to drop my blood sugar. He then asks me if I know anyone with diabetes and says "can't you borrow their blood glucose moniter?! like are you are kidding me. My final straw came today. I dropped off a simple form almost two weeks ago. This form is from my daughter's school so that I can volunteer there , stating that I'm not a risk for TB. My daughter school doesn't require me to get a current TB shot, as long as the dr signs off on the form stating I'm not a risk, which I'm not. I had the questioner all filled out. All he had to do was sign it. When I first dropped off the form last Monday the lady at the front desk told me that the doctor was not in until later that day and that she would try to have it ready to be picked up by Friday. I was very understanding and said no problem. Well fast forward to this week and I was supposed to hear from them by last Friday so on Monday I called. The lady that I spoke to, who I dropped the paper off with said that she would talk to the doctor and call me back. She calls me back and tells me today that the dr says I can come in for a TB shot. That was exactly why I dropped the form off is that so I didn't have to come in for a TB shot. She told me that she was going to talk to the doctor today and that she was going to try to have the paper ready so that It could be picked up possibly today and that she was going to call me back. I didn't hear from her. Go figure! So I called again at 5:15 today I spoke with someone else and she said that the lady that had my paper was with the patient and that she was going to talk to her and have her call me back before 6:30. Well, here we are. No phone call back. I'm not sure why something so simple as signing a form is so hard to complete. But this type of thing always happens at this office this isn't the first time that something simple hasn't been completed. At this point, I'm done! I'm going to find a new doctor. read more

If I could give Dr.Phillip Tse a million stars and his staff I would they are very professional. From my experience with the Doctor and the staff everyone is always friendly and professional. What makes Dr.Tse a perfect primary care doctor is that he genuinely cares for his patients from kidney patients to regular patients, he has excellent ethics, he cares about his patients, he is passionate about his profession and not to mention he is an experienced doctor he knows what he is doing. My parents are Dr. Tse's patients and I have really bad experience with this office everytime I come in to bring my parents. First of all, the wait is too long (how can you care for patients), even calling the office is hard to get a hold of anyone! (whats the use on having a office phone). The staff is rude and disrespectful (the short filipino lady wth glasses, I think her name is Everlyn). I asked her about a bill my parents recieved for Dr. Phillip's and she was rude and disrespectful plus, my parents had medicare and medical so how can I even get a bill! Also, the lack of employees is the problem too and lack of friendly-ness. Dr. Phillip is nice and a good doctor but I do hear him yelling at his staffs and on his phone. Unprofessional when you have your patient hearing that. Very fast professional staff members that work for Dr.Phillip Tse. Always very attentive I highly recommend this clinic. Dr.Phillip Tse is a nephrologist, not only is he a nephrologist but he also takes in regular PCP patients. I love this office and the redwood office by Santana row. This office is open Monday thru Thursday. Monday and Wednesday the doctor sees patients from 1:30 to 5:00pm, and Tuesday and Thursday they see patients from 8:30am to 12:30. Great place highly recommend Dr.Phillip Tse staff is always helpful and they are all sweet. read more

Dr Phillip is absolutely awesome ! My father has been going here for years. Now my father has his visits at the Stevens Creek locations. I've can't tell you how many doctors and specialist I've met through my father . I can say of all of the ones I've met he is the kindest most caring and understanding doctor I know. My father's blood sugar and pressure are sometimes high and unlike most doctors I don't get an earful. He understands how it is to be old and sick and sometimes things just don't go as plan. My father has dialysis 3 times a week, and outside of his monthly appointments Dr Tse even visits him at the dialysis center to keep an eye on both my fathers health and the staff who are taking care of him. I've had the a real insight in his care for his patients when my father and another of Dr TSE's patients were in the same room together at O'Connor hospital. Apparently the gentleman was very sick, so sick that he had troubles eating. Dr Tse came to see the gentleman and his family and was honest about the situation but in a very caring way. I could tell his words were very soothing to the family. That day he went from a great to a spectacular doctor in my book. in short, If I were older and needed his expertise, I wouldn't want anyone else to be my doctor. read more

My granda was referred by her family doctor to see this kidney doctor. I am impress of how this kidney doctor talk to my great grandma. He is very detailed and very patience to her. He may not able to answer all my great grandma's questions because she has not done her bloodtest yet but he took his time with her. The staff are courteous. There's one staff, short hair and heavy look that wears eye glasses annoys me on how she talk on the phone. Sounded rude, loud and demanding. The nurse that put my grandma in one of their room was very helpful and very nice. My great grandma even said "I like her". She helped me wheel my grandma in the room and took her blodpessure gently. I asked her name but I cannot say it because its long, sound like heterlin? she has small dimple when she smiles and wear eye glasses too. I read the previous review and was SHOCKED at what the reviewer wrote! Dr Tse has been my father's kidney doctor for the past 7 years and never once, during that time, have I experienced anything remotely like this. Yes, some of the girls that work in the office are Filipino but they've always been polite and respectful. Since I work full-time, I sometimes have to re-schedule my appointments at the last minute and they've always been accommodating. Perhaps they treat me kindly because I reciprocate the gesture. I find it diffiucult to believe that a professionaly medical assitant would use that kind of language in a doctor's office. Especially in front of the patient! It's true that Dr Tse is a very busy doctor but he's always given my father his undivided attention when he comes in. As a matter of fact, the office is so considerate of their non-English speaking patients that they hire medical assistants that speak different languages, so that they can help the patient's with translations. I consider this very valuable! Especially if I'm busy and my father has to take the bus to go see the doctor. I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I have to disagree with the negative reviewer. I usually don't write reviews but when I read the other review, I felt like I had to put in my two cents.
