As far as event grounds go, it doesn't get much better than Circuit Makati. I've been to quite a few events that happened in Circuit (and have one held there in the past!) and Circuit is a fantastic venue. Not only is it probably one of the most accessible venues to the nearby university audience (it's in Makati, so it's in decent proximity to the uni crowd), but it's pretty easy to get there. The venue itself is highly flexible, and you can have any sort of event you want from a music festival to a rave to a bazaar. The area comes in these sorts of components that you can rent out each: there's the parking lot, the open grass area, and the sort of auditorium cove thing that has amazing acoustics. And the rates are pretty negotiable depending on what you get. Globe Circuit Event Grounds is one of the hottest upcoming events places, so expect to see more amazing events held year every year.

The Circuit Event Grounds totally revolutionized the outdoor concert scene with its birth. I know this venue is actually part of a whole development called Circuit Makati, but everybody just uses that name to refer to the massive field with a canopy. Aside from being the home of the annual Wanderland Music & Arts Festival and the one hit wonder eponymous Circuit Fest (can we please have that back?? it was amazing despite the thunderstorm), the event grounds also host various bazaars and skate fests. I really like this place for concerts because the grass is perfect for sitting/lying down on between artists' sets, haha. Another major point is that it's strategically located in the heart of Makati. A little difficult to find on your first go, but everything is easier after that. Also, it's right smack in the middle of the Metro, so both QC and Alabang peeps don't have to go to far from their homes to attend a fantastic event.

I would watch local…read morefootball games in this stadium even before the main covered bleachers were put up, and the UFL football players had nowhere to change except in their cars or in their team buses. I have only been back a few weeks ago to check out a practice game of my friend's, and I was thoroughly impressed with how it turned out. The stadium has been the host of the UFL games, and each game is usually heart-stopping and exciting. This all-weather turf football field is modern and is very well equipped for football and ultimate frisbee tournaments. The restrooms for the spectators are relatively well-maintained, and are a far cry from the portable toilets that they used to provide before. The only thing that I don't really love about this place is that it is tucked in the far end of McKinley Hill, which is already inconvenient and inaccessible as it is. The parking lot would get filled, and we would usually have to park far from the stadium and walk the rest of the way. Sometimes, we would park as far as Enderun, which is a considerable distance away from the gates.

It's also got ample lighting, so playing at night is no problem. There's plenty of scrimmages weekly. The stadium is home to the UFL and they take priority usage, but plenty of other organizers host games for all sorts of teams. It won't be that difficult to find a match to participate in. Organizers can be pretty strict though, as they usually require complete team names and rosters, which they cross-check before and after games. I assume they have real locker rooms for their home league players, but I've never been able to see or access them in the three months I've been playing there. I've only been able to use the bathrooms for spectators, which are clean, but aren't equipped with showers. Parking has never been a problem. They've got an open lot up front and a multilevel garage at the back. Also, have your hydration on hand. There's no water fountain in sight. There is, however, a 7-Eleven about a five minute walk away.

The place itself is quite old and dated though but it still does the job of holding events for a thousand-seating capacity. Getting out of the area once a concert or game ends can be quite a hassle but the exits are situated in strategic areas all around the center anyway. What I particularly like about the place is its close proximity to the Cubao MRT station, which is connected through Farmers Market and Gateway Mall and is easily accessible by foot.

I've been to Laguna for the first time during a travel photography course. It was time to practice…read morewhat we had learnt, so the teacher organized a day-trip to Pila, a beautiful colonial city only 2 hours far from Metro Manila. Pila is full of historical venues, churches and Spanish-style houses - all great inspiration for photographers! However, what first caught my attention was the Coliseum located in front of the main road. It isn't made for basketball games or whatever, like one can suppose. The focus here is cockfighting! Yep, that's their speciality. If you're new to the Philippines, you'll notice pretty soon that cockfighting is a national sport. Here it's totally legal and, depending on the place you are, it's VERY common to see roosters on the streets, in front of the houses or in courtyards. I suppose people own rooster so they can fight. Considering this anthropological fact, nothing could be more logical than a cockfighting arena. Well, I must confess I hate cockfighting, anyway. It just sounds cruel. If you like it, though, then you can have a great time visiting Pila and stopping there at the Coliseum.

This stadium has hosted countless of events through the years, from a Southeast Asian Games opening ceremony, to concerts of none other than the Fab Four (The Beatles). Before the construction of the Philippine Stadium in Bocaue, Bulacan was finished, Rizal Memorial served as the home stadium for most matches of the Philippine National Football (soccer) Team or more popularly known as the Azkals. Being a big Philippine sports fan, I naturally found my way to the stadium a handful of times to support my national team. Stadium facilities are in dire need of a renovation. I remember being at the stadium for the Azkals' FIFA World Cup qualifier versus Sri Lanka. Rain started to pour during the match. Despite being seated by the covered grandstand area, we still were affected by the downpour because the roof was leaking! I've also been to the bleachers, and there is only one entrance and exit. Quite the safety hazard, if you ask me. As a former professor and soccer aficionado called it, a "death trap." I'm giving Rizal Memorial 3 stars simply because of its historical significance, but the two stars are still waiting to fulfilled by an all-out renovation to restore the facility to be at least internationally respectable and at par with modern standards to ultimately bring it back to its once glorious state.
