Excellent choice for a high end group pheasant hunt. New facility. Great food. Dave is one of the nicest and most hard workings guys you will ever meet. Well organized hunts with lots of birds. read more

This is a review of the campground inside the Historic Prairie Village outside Madison. We stayed…read moreone night in a grassy, fairly level 50 amp electric only site that functioned as a pull-thru because no one else was there and we were just told to pull through the site behind us to get to ours. Otherwise when it's full, these sites are back to back. They're also next to the state road and pretty far from the restrooms and bathhouse. The tent sites and 30 amp sites are closer to the bathhouse and further away from the highway. They have very limited 50 amp sites so make sure you reserve it if you need it. The lady at check in was friendly and helpful. Your camping fee gives you access to all the historic buildings there and you're free to wander around the grounds. Some of the 30 amp campsites have water but they look like they're filled with long term residents or seasonal workers. Dump station is on site, free. There's free WiFi but it was weak at our site. No cable, no playground, no pool, no off leash dog park. For the price, this was a good overnight for us and we would likely return.

There are not many places to stay in Miller. You must choose between The Dew Drop and the Super 8…read more(and let me tell you, do NOT pick the Super 8 unless you smoke, enjoy garbage, and already have bedbugs). You can also look for a B&B, but many are run by folks who don't advertise online, so unless you already know who to contact, out of towners are left out of the loop. Which brings me back to The Dew Drop. Long story short, it's a place to sleep and take a shower. It's an older drive-up motel with none of the fancy amenities you'd find at a Hilton. If you're all bougie and fancy, don't stay here and then blast them with a crappy rating and complain about it. It's not for you. Drive another hour to Pierre and stay there instead. But if you just need a place to sleep, it gets the job done. It's clean. It doesn't smell. They take care of the property as best they can. Reservations are made by phone. You're in South Dakota, so you're going to get flies in your room. There's a swatter on the wall. There's a mini fridge. You can make yourself a coffee in the office. My one and only complaint is the pillows. They smell like sweaty dudes. Management needs to run every pillow they've got over to the laundromat once in a while to clean them out. I took a hand towel from the bathroom and slid it between the pillow and pillowcase and was just fine. Or, just bring your own pillow.

We had a little trouble getting the heater going at a good temperature, but it was nothing an extra blanket couldn't handle. They have a cooler with sodas for $1 in the office and they offer coffee in the morning. An added bonus-- the owners were wearing masks! Seemed like a rarity in South Dakota and it was an extremely welcome surprise.

Carpet is crusty, curtains falling down, paint chipping off ceiling, tub drain was dismantled. Bed was so tall, it took a flying leap to get on it. (Comfortable, but too high) The comp breakfast was fine, free newspaper, coffee in lobby. RYAN's Hangar Restaurant was convenient and pretty good. Chislic and steak fries were way too overseasoned with salt. Loaf of bread divine, Walleye delicious. Hotel needs an update!
Finding stained sheets on one bed would have been unacceptable. Finding stained sheets on every bed…read morein our room was inexcusable. The room had clearly not been properly prepared before our arrival. When I brought the issue to staff's attention, I expected housekeeping to correct the problem. Instead, I was handed clean sheets and expected to change multiple beds myself. That is not a guest's job. We paid for a clean, ready-to-use hotel room, not to do housekeeping work because basic cleaning standards were not met. The condition of the room and the lack of an appropriate response from staff left a very poor impression. Clean bedding is one of the most basic expectations of any hotel stay, and this property failed to meet that standard. I cannot recommend staying here based on our experience.

There are 15 spaces with 30 and 50 amp hookups though there is no water. A dump station is available at the south end of the park. Stay up to 72 hours (three days) though the spaces are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. I did bring my lunch here to one of the picnic tables to dine al fresco and enjoy some outside. The park is quite large with a gazebo, playgrounds, fire pits and plenty of picnic tables. [Review 17849 overall - 51 in South Dakota - 1370 of 2022.]
