Ellesmere Healthcare Centre - Reception and the hallway leading to the exam rooms

Ellesmere Healthcare Centre

This review marks my 2300th. It is fitting that it's about preparing to travel to the States, which…read moreI haven't done since early March 2020. I originally booked an appointment through Specialty Rx Pharmacy for a COVID-19 antigen test. When I arrived at the pharmacy, I was directed over to Ellesmere Healthcare Centre to check in. I got Joan at reception, who was the sweetest woman. I indicated that I had an appointment at 10:45 am. She found me and asked that I fill out a short form. The last question in a series of five was a trick. Most of the questions had me answer no. The last one asked, "Are you fully vaccinated?" I checked no accidentally. Oops! We got that straightened out. You do need to provide proof that you are you. A passport or driver's licence work. I provided the latter. Done! I had already provided my health card details online, so I didn't need to flash that. It was strange, but I'm guessing that my driver's licence proof reinforced my health card information. She confirmed that I was travelling to the States. You do need to have this antigen test within 72 hours before your departure. She had to think about my situation. I said that it was more like 52 hours. We both chuckled, as she implied that math was not her strong suit. She entered my information into the system. I had added my credit card information online, but her payment system was down. We settled payment at the pharmacy, which was smooth and seamless. When she was ready, we headed over to a medical room. She let me know that I could keep my mask on, but to lower it enough for her to swab both nostrils. She used a swab with a brush tip. She swabbed and it felt like a tickle, but without my bursting out in laughter. It was oddly enjoyable. Who knew?! She let me know that it would take ten minutes for my test result. She said that I could come back in ten minutes. I indicated that I'd wait in the waiting area, which was cool with her. Sure enough, ten minutes later, she had my printed report ready. She had also sent me a digital version of it. She asked that I look over all details to make sure that everything was good. It was. I wished her a great day. She wished me a safe trip. It was such a great experience. This clinic does take patients. It doesn't take walk-in patients, but you can book an appointment to see a doctor. The clinic is clean. The pharmacy and clinic are under one roof without any walls when you are inside. Both businesses have separate entrances. I'm guessing that it's a design trend these days. There is plenty of parking at this plaza. I wish that Chatime were open when I was there. I'll need to come back and check it out, along with the other stores. I'd return here for future antigen tests for travel. The report quality is perfect and it was $39. (429)

The…read more4-story building is located right at the NW corner of Finch and Midland, in that plaza with all kinds of quick eats and restaurants! Hence, people often complain that there are not enough parking spots, and they are right! But never fear, there are plenty more parking spots BEHIND the restaurants in that plaza... just go in from Midland Avenue. It is quite a lively building, with people going in and out at all hours. There is a pharmacy and a post office conveniently located on the main floor. Once it is past the building opening hours, the main doors automatically lock! The only way you can get out is from the back door near the stairways. Yes, I've seen people madly trying to get out at off hours, getting very frustrated, panicking, banging and pushing on the doors (and swearing!) o_o **NOTE: Please use the back door ** The management keeps the building very clean, inside and out. They have cleaners cleaning throughout the day. The directory is clearly displayed, making it easy for people to find where they are looking for. ** Another thing to NOTE is that there is a 3 hour parking limit during building opening hours ** Management strictly keeps tabs on every vehicle, so be sure not to go past the limit or you'll be fined by a parking enforcement officer for overtime parking at private property. I let her know as I wanted to know what to expect for the next appointment so I would not lose work for her. I waited 4 months for her to call me with food in her mouth and a rude entitled attitude and when I called her out on it she says she doesn't appreciate the "verbal aggression". I was assertive not aggressive. She is condescending and I would never let her be my doctor

Like another reviewer, I also created a Yelp account specifically so I could warn others about how…read moreunsatisfactory the experience with this sleep clinic could be. I am so dis-satisfied with the way I was treated, I would give zero stars if it were possible. The accommodation was clean, but not conducive to sleep- the room had a night light that stayed on all night because the camera in the room (apparently) didn't have night vision. The room was also very warm, and loud (I could hear people coughing, people walking through the hall, people talking and laughing in the kitchenette down the hall, and toilets flushing, with water moving through the pipes, throughout the night. I barely slept because of the heat/light/noise, to the point that the sleep study that was supposed to continue until 5pm the next day, was cancelled because I didn't sleep enough and it would have thrown off the results. Instead of booking a new sleep study, I was told that there were "results". Considering a three hour drive in each direction for a 15 minute meeting with the doctor, in order to get "results" that were very likely not relevant to my usual situation, I asked if it was possible to book a phone conversation. The receptionist would not even entertain the thought of ASKING the doctor, and insisted the ONLY way to get the results was to drive there. As I was hoping for another (properly completed) sleep study, I felt obliged to follow through and speak with the doctor, so I booked the appointment, the time off work, and asked a friend who is comfortable with city driving, if they would also book the day off to take me. Around noon the day before the appointment, I received a call, asking if I still wanted a phone consultation. Considering the snow and freezing rain warnings in effect, I was thrilled and very grateful! The woman said she would ask the doctor at 9am in the morning, then call me back. That evening, I received a "Reminder" text, confirming my "Phone appointment" for the next day. Around 9:30am on the day of the appointment, I called the clinic and left a message, saying I received a text saying my 2:15pm was by phone, but I wanted to make sure it was confirmed as such and not done pre-emptively as I had been speaking with someone there the day before who had said they would confirm the change from in-person to phone, with the doctor. Someone called ME from the clinic a short time later, and said the appointment was definitely confirmed as over the phone. A short time after that, I received another call from the clinic, telling me that if I wanted the results today, I would have to drive there. Otherwise, I would have to book another appointment, this time, for a friday. After some back and forth conversation, a different woman came on the line, and without giving me a chance to speak, accused me of lying about receiving a return call from someone in their clinic that confirmed today's appointment as a phone conversation with the doctor, and told me I was welcome to drive down in the freezing rain if I wanted the results today, but that's the only way I would get them. I ended up telling them I won't be booking another appointment with them for results or anything else.

They were absolutely wonderful. The place is immaculate, doctors and most of the staff are…read morefriendly. I was treated very professionally by the sleep techs and Dr. Bohra. Note that even if you have one, you may need to wait a bit longer. COVID precautions are in place, and each person is screened before entering. The waiting room has approximately seven seats, all spaced out. I was quite concerned when the technologist called me to the front, gave me a bottle of liquid to drink, and asked me to wait one hour. My Naturopathic Doctor requested the bloodwork, which is not covered by OHIP (Ontario Health Care Plan), so I knew what tests were required. I told the technologist I was not aware of this, and she spoke with her colleague. There must have been a mix up, so I do suggest looking at the requisition before handing it over. My health card was not required, but the technologist asked for my birthdate (make sure you confirm this). The parking lot is normally crowded, but during the pandemic, it is easy to find a spot. The bus stop is also very conveniently located, just steps away from the front entrance.

Would strongly not recommend this location for any matters. And there was only another patient when I arrived. So no, don't think she was busy and that is not a legit reason for her to be extremely rude. When I was called in for blood work. I sat in the room for another 10 minutes or so. Then a lady with better manner came in and help me with it. The second lady is the only reason they got two star instead of one.
