Trois-Rivieres is the midpoint, more or less, on the highway between Montreal and Quebec City, so you'll either be buying fuel or be hungry. This small downtown has a main drag, Rue des Forges, which has obviously gone through a small renaissance and has some trendier eateries as well as nicely finished renditions of McDonald's and Subway. It's on the Saint Lawrence River, has a port, a small downtown, old churches, a gritty industrial section, the topography slowly climbs upward as you go inland from the river, and one senses that there is a lot of history there. And this little "locals only" (not really) pizza place/diner fits right into the equation.
