I got Heastings Electric's number from my Realtor. So I wanted to make sure I was getting a good…read moredeal, and made sure to get a few other estimates. Theirs was competitive, and most importantly they were able to come the next day to do the work. I had several GFCI's installed (in front of the house and in the kitchen), as well as running permanent wiring for an electric garage door opener, and rectifying an improper electrical installation (by previous owner) of the washer/dryer. I also asked my wife to find out how much adding an outlet to the back deck would cost, as this wasn't on the original estimate (I hadn't noticed there wasn't an outlet out there until the day we moved in). Not only did they arrive on time, and do all the quoted work quickly and efficiently, but when my wife asked them about the extra outlet, they said that since it was our first home, and they were already running wires near that area (for the washer/dryer) they'd throw it in for free! I can't recommend them enough. As a new homeowner I consider finding a trustworthy contractor a rare thing. So I actually asked them for references for other contractors when the HVAC contractor didn't show up , and they were able to give me a great referral that showed up same-day and completed the work for half what the no-show contractor had quoted us.

The work was sub par and they never had an inspector come to inspect the job. Apparently they claimed that it was due to coronavirus. Months later after trying to get this resolved without success, I hired an inspector myself. The inspector said he didn't know of any inspections stopping for COVID. Also, the inspector made me correct a lot of the work that was done before putting a sticker on the panel.

Terry was referred to me by a co-worker and he delivered. The first time I spoke to him I told him my current tribulations and by the time we hung up he was able to explain to me some things I didn't know about our protections as Pittsburgh residents and how permitting works with master electricians. He was able to confirm in less than 15 minutes after speaking the other said "electrician" did not, in fact, pull a permit. Terry came by the house within a couple days and saw the shoddy work of the other as well as clearly identified a fire hazard and immediately protected our home by disconnecting what he needed to keep us safe until the actions could be taken to rectify the problem. The work was done in a day, including the inspection, so he has some good rapport with the right people at the city, this is unheard of where I have been for a decade. Also, when the time came, he did more work than he expected just to correct what wasn't done right by the first guy at no additional cost. Terry also went out of his way when I called and asked for a written statement for my credit card company about what needed to be corrected and completed to ensure I could get my money back. He didn't require a deposit nor my credit card info and he only accepts checks so although I didn't get miles for the expense, I got piece of mind, and it is well worth it! I am very appreciative I found them and I will keep them in my pocket for future use and referral. I tried to go the less expensive route and got nothing but heartache. When I did things correctly I got more than expected and a fair deal.

For example, in my case I needed 8 recess recessed lighting in my room they quoted 1350 with two switches. In the job, the guy asked me 75$ for extra wire which was never communicated before the job. Once job was done guy asked me 125$ extra for putting one extra switch in the same box. After being asked for extra money I ended up buying double dimmer single switch from home depot for 30$.

They were hired to install heat fans for our community shower rooms. From beginning to end, the quality was poor. From installing the wrong wires, to cutting our drywall and ceiling up to the point where it left hazardous gaps for residents and/or staff to electrocute themselves. If anything, this kind of work will chase possible residents out and lowers our value. There is no way that their employees can be proud of this work. Absolutely unacceptable.

Asked them to run a line and install a new GFI outlet, light switch, wiring for a vanity light, and a shower light, as well as remove old K&T wiring in the walls. When the team was working I was sitting in my home office working. They never asked me any questions or spoke to me about needs, but ended up cutting 7 large holes in my ceiling to run wiring despite the walls being open and accessible overhead. They mounted the outlet and light switch boxes too deep in the walls for drywall to be mounted flush. They did not remove all of the K&T wiring. And they damaged a pipe in my wall mounting the entire vanity light (again so deep in the wall I need to move it to have it work with the drywall). I asked to discuss the issues and they sent a project manager out, who admitted they should have done a better job with the light switch and outlet. He said they did not damage the pipe, except if they did damage it, it was only because it was old and brittle and it would have happened no matter what. And that the fine print in their estimates states they aren't responsible for damages from holes they need to cut to run wiring for lights. (Part of my ceiling plaster collapsed afterward.) Repairs after this for the pipe and replacing the ceiling with drywall ran ~$700. They took off the $50 "Trip Fee" from my invoice. Very frustrating and definitely won't be using again.
