I was referred to this agent through the State Farm portal when I requested a quote and it started nice enough, but I'm telling you: RUN. I met Peyton at an event my kid's high school held. I was already a State Farm customer but with a different agent, but wasn't happy with the service I was receiving from them. Peyton promised us that he could definitely fix the issues we were having but didn't. He is nice enough, his staff is decent, but it sucks that any changes made by us customers go through our agent...but yet the agent "can't make" them technically. I made changes to my policy on 2/4, well before my auto-draft (2/25) and was told it would take effect immediately. Only to find out - even though the bill for Feb. was generated on 2/5 (after my changes) that I would be paying for coverage that I no longer have (as of 2/4) because "the home office still has to process changes, and they do that in the order they are received. We only enter the changes, home office processes them". Ridiculous! What's the point in even having an agent and having to go through them for my account?! I never actually met Peyton Pettus...met his lackey, but never him. Signed up for homeowners and 4 vehicles and not so much as a generic thank you email. Even after the wind blew shingles off our home and as an "insurance company" State Farm chose to cancel our policy instead of actually doing the job they are paid to do, still no word from Mr. Pettus. Now I understand that insurance companies in general are a crap shoot and definitely not "on your side". but State Farm and Peyton Pettus are the absolute worst I've seen and due to the type of business I own, I've met a lot of agents and adjusters. They have made me feel like some young punk that has gotten himself in trouble and now I am being punished for it with no outside help. I can't control the weather and now I can't control the fact that we will have a cancellation on our "insurance record" which will undoubtedly result in higher premiums in the future. Which reminds me, not even a 30 day notice, we have about 12 days to find new insurance before our mortgage company imposes their own. Nice! You do what you want, but I wouldn't give this guy the time of day. His office seemed to be more interested in the "Add On", the "Up Sale"...the lackey told me Peyton was more involved with Financial Planning and that's why he doesn't reach out often. Unfortunately, After 15 yrs of service with Farm Bureau we decided to switch to State Farm for cheaper annual premiums. Ha, joke that only lasted 6 months. When I canceled the office staff was not prompt and I had to waste a lot of time calling to tell them to get the dates right, to do the cancellation, and even to complain (with them blowing me off and not contacting me back after I had left messages). By then, I am an irate consumer of their poor services with no attention or follow up to the people who pay their salaries. Well here we are 6 months later on Homeowners cancelation which was initiated in Feb for March 1 (mind you tom is May). Tammy dropped the ball, she saw that I signed instead of my husband, and still submitted the form. I just received a document stating they are "canceling" us due to the risk that someone else is staying in the dwelling other than the insured. Okay we both have the same last name, we both are on the mortgage with me being first, but someone else is living in the house. I have had to call, and call, and call, to get them to do the simple every day requests/transactions that are happening all over the place in the insurance field and they FAIL, FAIL, Fail not once but 5 times. I have never been more unhappy with a company in my life and I have felt with many. Go elsewhere for personal customer service with people who care. I wish I had stayed with Farm bureau albeit more expensive- I never would have had to deal with them. read more
