While bored in class one day I stumbled upon Leah's insta and loved her style! However, I'm pretty impatient and since her books are closed, I decided to look into the other artists there. Boy, am I happy I did! Through Instagram I found Sam and immediately fell in love with an available flash piece she had posted on her IG story. I decided to reach out through email that night because I couldn't stop thinking about how cute it was. She got back to me the next day telling me the piece was still available-- woohoo! We shot a few friendly emails back and forth about size, color, and pricing (she works for ~120 an hour) and worked out an available time later in the week. This isn't my first rodeo with tattoos, so believe me when I tell you I could NOT BELIEVE how comfortable she made me feel the whole time (it was like chilling with an old friend). Even better, the tattoo was the least painful I have EVER gotten. I even pointed out that I couldn't believe how little pain I was experiencing. Whoever taught her, taught her well. The little piece turned out beautifully and I've been getting so many compliments. Thanks so much Sam and WTC! One day, during…read morea test, my engineer father walked me to the end of our alley to touch the pole, feel the vibrations, and learn how sound worked. When I wanted a tattoo to honor my dad, I knew that I wanted something geometric, riffing on engineering drawings and schematics. I gave Aaron a few images of the air raid siren that lived at the end of my alley, a Federal Signal Model 1, and told him my desired style. He went to work on a drawing, sending my drafts for comment throughout the process. The final was just what I'd hoped for, capturing the memory of my dad permanently on my shin. Even though the tattoo was just linework, I've seen some of the amazing ways Aaron can work with color, and while I'm pondering my next ink, I'm making sure it will take advantage of that skill. Aaron is a great listener and asks good questions during the design process to ensure you're happy with the design. He's unrushed in the studio, taking his time to get things right. He is an excellent conversationalist, converses on a wide variety of topics, and makes the time in the chair pass quickly. Getting inked at Black Dawn was a great experience that I will definitely repeat.
