They are a very caring facility and were able to fit us in last minute on a Saturday without much trouble. What was really excellent was Dr. Whalen gave me 2 prescriptions that were "people" medicines and can be filled at any pharmacy. He told me that sometimes Stop & Shop will fill it for free because they have a surplus of certain antibiotics. I wasn't sure it was the case and sure enough I went to get them filled and it cost a penny for one medication, and $10 for the other. Where the vet could have easily sold me an expensive drug at the visit, I greatly appreciated Dr. Whalen's care and his suggestion to get a medication in a very cost effective manor. I highly recommend this facility to any pet lovers in the area.

The lady I spoke to in reception told me that he was no longer involved with the practice and she could not help me at all with getting in contact with him. And oddly, she repeated it several times in a weird and gleeful way. I mentioned that it was regard to an eye emergency and she could not care less, and then disconnected my call. Draw your own conclusions from that interaction, but would you really want to try to get help from these people during an emergency? I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. We found out about A Cat's Place via my boyfriend's friend, who works there at the front desk (Amanda is so sweet and amazing!). We were immediately greeted upon arrival, and we only had to wait about 5 minutes before we were seen by the vet, Kara. We were actually late a few minutes so the 5 minute wait was realistically us filling out the new patient paperwork! Kara and her assistant (I'm so sorry I forgot your name) were both awesome, patient, and kind. I could tell immediately from how they handled our kitties that they were skilled and had years of experience with cats. Although our cats were finicky and trying to get away, Kara always spoke calmly and professionally. She made a few geeky jokes which I appreciate. :) After this 20-30 minute appointment/check-up, Kara brought some recommendations to our attention and I really trust her judgment. She seems to know her stuff, and she's been doing this for over 15 years. She also clipped their nails in no time at all (thank goodness), and the check-up and medication fees were reasonable. I've seen a shift in the way the place is staffed - the new staff seemed to care less and less. I've ignored signs (being that I myself work at an animal hospital - the burnout is real) but the fact that clients pay you to take care of their fur babies is a service you commit to provide. My boarding experience earlier this year- I noted that medication for my sick asthmatic cat was not given by the staff due to the fact that he "looked stressed". It would have been okay since they take your phone number in case of an emergency and promise to call if anything comes up. Instead I took him home, coughing and wheezing after 4-5 days away to look at the inhaler count to see it hadn't moved. I wasn't notified at pickup and had to call them to find out why. The funny thing is all the times we have used them to board, he could come back sick and we always used to think it was a change of environment. When I complained Jessica (management) was really great and compassionate and apologized essentially for the mishap and informed me that they will have protocols in place to tell owners when things like this happen. That's great, right? Except that it shouldn't take a mistake to have that plan in place. That should be the FIRST thing you do. I ended up having him admitted in another facility for 3+ days in Emergency until he was back to normal. All in all, it's a clean facility with only cats which is a major plus. However, I don't think we will be returning anymore. For those of you who board your pets, make sure that meds are being done when they are supposed to be done whether it be marking the bottle or noting the counts.

After reading about the benefits of Chinese herbs and acupuncture, I searched for a veterinarian that used these tools in their practice. I was very fortunate to find Dr. Gurevich to treat my dog, and the results so far are more than favorable. My observatioan of Dr. Gurevich is that she is a very knowledgeable and dedicated young woman who clearly has a great love for her profession and the animals that she treats. She examined my dog and reviewed all her medical records and stated that she would work along with my preferred vet if I wanted her to. After her evaluation, she prescribed two Chinese herbs to help with her skin and inflammation and then performed acupuncture and laser which also treats her skin and paws. After two series of treatments and several weeks on the herbs, my dogs coat is beautiful, and her constant licking of her paws has subsided to where the fur is starting to grow back. She didn't do "everyday" vet stuff, annual exams, vaccines so she recommended here for that. I booked with Dr. Michael Ragan who I absolutely love. He goes way above and beyond. Not only does he treat both my senior pets, who both have problems like hip displaysia, allergies, Cushing's disease to name a few, he treated them with ease. He gives you the time you need to talk and gives a very thorough exam. When specialized bloodwork needed to go to a specific lab, he researched the best. When I was looking into moving to London, he provided the necessary links to get the pet info. He worked closely with my dog's specialist and when he found a rising in blood work values, he recommended I get over to my specialist immediately and worked closely with her to diagnose. Thank God he did, my pet had a serious tumor needing removal, which due to being caught early by Dr. Ragan, was a successful removal and outcome. I am grateful for vets like Dr. Ragan. Now that I am relocated again, I am dreading the search for such a fine vet staff. I will miss him and his staff greatly! Ohhh yea... the office girls rock!!!! They are awesome and so accommodating! We got a new water fountain and give her hairball medicine. Sometimes the less invasive techniques are the best, what I love about this office I have been going to for over 40 years!
