Drafted Google Review for Boca Midtowne Animal Hospital 1…read moreStar I wish I could assign fewer than one star. I strongly advise against taking your Frenchie (or any pet requiring BOAS evaluation or surgery) to Boca Midtowne Animal Hospital. I do not trust this practice or its owner, Dr. Boaz Man. Here is a complete, chronological account of my experience, beginning with the initial contact: In preparation for addressing my dog Rico's chronic brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome (BOAS), I first obtained pet insurance that included a mandatory 30-day waiting period before any claims could be filed. Before any services were rendered and before any claims were submitted, I explicitly informed the office staff of this situation during the appointment scheduling process. The purpose of the insurance was solely to help cover the cost of the necessary BOAS surgery and related diagnostics for Rico. I scheduled a free consultation. Upon arrival, I was informed that all required procedures could be performed that same day. I immediately and clearly explained to the staff that I was only willing to proceed with any additional diagnostic work-up if my insurance would cover it. The staff assured me that they work with my insurance carrier regularly and proposed that we call the insurance company together to verify coverage. During that joint call, the insurance representative confirmed that the services would be covered. Relying on this assurance, we proceeded with the preliminary examination. I paid the practice more than $400 at that time. According to the practice's own later statement, the services provided consisted solely of x-rays and a physical examination. Notably, the bloodwork that formed a substantial portion of the quoted services was never collected, never sent to a laboratory, and no results were ever received by me. If the hospital now claims that no payment was made or that services were not rendered, I respectfully request that they produce an itemized receipt detailing exactly what services were actually provided. I retain my own receipt documenting payment in excess of $400. Subsequently, when the insurance company reviewed the medical record prepared by Dr. Boaz Man, it determined that the wording describing Rico as having "snored before I brought him in" established a pre-existing condition, thereby jeopardizing coverage. I own multiple other dogs that snore but have never required BOAS surgery; snoring alone does not automatically equate to a surgical-level condition. I therefore politely asked Dr. Man whether he could reword the report to reflect the clinical findings more precisely--without altering any factual data or medical observations. He refused. At no point did I request that any medical records be falsified, nor did I ask Dr. Man or the staff to engage in any illegal activity. I simply sought clear, accurate documentation so that my insurance could fulfill the coverage it had verbally confirmed during our joint call. Instead of assisting with this legitimate request, Dr. Man's public response to my original review accused me of attempting to commit insurance fraud and of showing disrespect to the staff. These accusations are false and deeply concerning. I was left shocked by the practice's handling of the situation and by the owner's public characterization of events. When a pet owner is simply attempting to obtain appropriate medical care for a beloved animal, professionalism and transparency should be paramount. In my experience, neither was present. I have since taken Rico elsewhere for the care he needs. I sincerely hope other pet owners--especially those with French Bulldogs requiring BOAS evaluation or surgery--will consider this account before entrusting their animals to this facility.

I never thought I would find another veterinarian as good as my regular but I was wrong. In fact,…read moreif you have a cat Dr. Hugo should be the only veterinarian you go to. I wondered how you can run a practice (and stay in business) while solely catering to cats. After our visit I understood exactly how this was possible. Dr. Hugo has so much knowledge on cats that I was genuinely impressed. For example, our cat turns into a vicious monster at the veterinarian. Not a single vet or vet tech can handle her without my help lest they get scratched. She's so difficult that you can't even get her out of her cage without tipping it over. Well Dr. Hugo was an exception. I didn't even get a chance to warn him about how vicious she was when he smoothly got her out of the cage. He handled her firmly yet with care. In fact, she was handled so well that she didn't even take a swipe at him! That was never happened before. Usually I will volunteer to help with her examination so the vet can do what he needs to without struggling with my cat. But after watching Dr. Hugo handle her expertly, I didn't even bother because I could tell that he really knew what he was doing. The rest of the visit was just as smooth. He spent a lot of time with our cat and listened intently to each issue she was having. Then he took the time to give us detailed answers to our questions and multiple possible remedies to each issue that we could implement. So you would think that such top notch service would cost an arm and a leg. Frankly I didn't think about the price and for his level of service I expected to pay a lot. However, to my surprise he was extremely affordable. His fees were on par with what you would expect to pay at a cheap veterinarian clinic. Our cat is a member of our family and we want the best care possible for her. And I do believe we have found that with Dr. Hugo. As much as I love my regular veterinarian; Dr. Hugo is on another level. If you have a cat I urge you to give this place a try.

I can't tell you how caring and wonderful everyone was from the front desk, to the techs and Dr Kristy. They dealt with both Max and I in a caring, professional way. They didn't seem to mind I might have been a little crazy but Max is my only family. They kept telling me he'd be fine and they were very understanding while a one point I was a puddle of tears. We've been home 4 hours he's eating drinking and now peacefully napping. No whining crying or yelping. They only gave her one med for 5 days once results came back treating 1 bacteria. Meds ran out uti was BAD peeing 14 times in 2 hours. No sleep for both of us for weeks, puppy pads everywhere. 6/12 got more meds $53 Cavomax. Meds ran out waited 2 days on no meds uti got worse from the waiting period of doing bloodwork, another exam fee, e-collar, allergy shot another $487 by Dr Hannaka. Brought my other dog here just for office visit and allergy shot. Total for both dogs spend was $1200. At the end of the second drug they switched the drug to rx# 243051 1/2 pill a day which is laughable used by itself, it did nothing! So from 6/8-7/13 summers animal hospital could not/would not help my dogs UTI. The last thing Summers told me was "we can't help her you need to take her to see an INTERNIST " after hundreds of dollars for a uti-I took her to another vet office I used to go to and been open for over 30 years spent $200 for office visit and meds-meds-l gave the other vet all the bloodwork, urinalysis and culture from summers -other vet office immediately knew summers was ONLY treating 1 bacteria and not 2 bacteria's present and that treating 1 bacteria she would have NEVER got better. I got a lot of attitude from the dr, summer animal hospital did not do a thorough job. Summers animal hospital MISDIAGNOSED my dog by trying to only treat 1 bacteria and not 2. Needless to say my dog is much better from a 10 minute visit at the other vet animal hospital, that took the time to go over the results from summers. My dog Isabel responded immediately to Simplicef 100mg and Ciprofloxacin 250mg treating Both bacterias. I wasted so much time, aggravation, for over a MONTH for a UTI- my dog suffered, hundreds of dollars spent. I do not recommend summers animal hospital. They have a lot to learn. STAY AWAY Seiler animal hospital viewed the previous lab work and culture done at summers. The bacteria staphylococcus pseudintermedius. Summers did not treat Isabel with the correct meds for 3 weeks. That's complete negligence causing the uti to go on for weeks and then trying to have me have more tests done! Admit your fault summers misdiagnosed Isabel. This should have never happened and yes summers animal hospital owes us! They shouldn't be treating uti's. She would have never gotten better treating just 1 bacteria. Why pressure the client to do more cultures when this was shown on the very first culture???!?! Carmen L. Their excuse was the dog had to be under anesthesia and may need to stay overnight. Also cited reading of the MRI. My dog had cancer surgery which included pre and post OP visits, anesthesia, the actual surgery where the Dr and all the assistants were there for over an hour, a night's stay and medication. It cost $2100. He had another surgery on his eye. Same scenario with the anesthesia, the Dr and assistants, pre and post OP visits, a full day's stay and medication. $2300. Their ridiculous price forces a pet owner to either take out a loan they can't afford or put down their cherished loved one. I had to put down my dog without ever knowing what happened to him or if he could have been saved. I posted this review on another site and they replied with a pathetic, fake sympathy statement followed by a long list of excuses why they are special and worth THREE TIMES more than a doctor that performed actual life saving surgery on my dog. I replied with this: IT'S AN MRI NOT CANCER SURGERY. You think the other doctors that did actual surgery on my dog don't have the same things and costs associated with their field of study? You want to have sympathy? Stop catering to the rich and taking advantage of the poor. Charge a reasonable fee for a damn MRI. An MRI for a human with the same equipment is a few hundred dollars. You have ZERO justification of that amount for an MRI other that pure greed. Then they deleted their reply. This place is disgusting.
