What I love about being able to leave a review for a person who exemplifies customer service is when it's a chain store. Today I made a little bit of an error by grabbing two sizes of pottypads thinking that they were the same. I asked a gentleman named Xander, who was busy doing something else if he could assist me compared to me interrupting the standard checkout line. He did not hesitate at all! He was cheerful. Today I had my final visit to this PetSmart location specifically for the grooming services. They have repeatedly dropped the ball and honestly it's my fault at this point for thinking my dog was going to have a good experience. In the past grooming staff has injured my dog by giving him a bath, putting him in a drying kennel without first doing his nails. This resulted in him, standing up in the kennel and ripping off one of his declaws by having it get caught in the drying kennel. This was my first negative experience with this store, the only redeeming factor was Tee who had bathed my dog and provided excellent customer service and care to my senior Great Pyrenees. Tee is the only reason I remained loyal to this location as I've never encountered any issues with them. This last 3 days I've been trying to get my dog into the groomers with an appointment that was already scheduled. Due to the last injury that was mentioned above, PetSmart does not allow my dog to be put in a kennel so when I take my dog to the groomers, they force me to pay an extra fee so my dog isn't kenneled during the service, even though this is a problem caused by their negligence. Apparently I also can't schedule this kind of "express service" online so I unknowingly scheduled the wrong type of bath/brush/haircut. We brought him in and not only did. The staff belittled me and made me feel like it was my fault that this oversight wasn't caught and they rescheduled me for a few days out which was inconvenient but it's whatever they could've been kind about it. Today, i dropped off my dog and explained his grooming needs as he had just been seen by my vet and treated for a hotspot that's fully healed. 15 minutes after dropping off my dog I got a call that they were unable to provide my pet a grooming service as "his feet were wet". Then two groomers tried to explain to me that because he had wet feet, He had an open wound that was caused by yeast and bacteria then advised me to take my dog to the vet for antibiotic treatment. They explained to me that it is PetSmart policy that the animal will be sent home if they're showing signs of an open wound. I asked their manager to show me this policy and they explained they were not allowed to do so. -I'd also like to mention that we live in Washington and this last weekend we have had half an inch of rain...- I'm incredibly dissatisfied with my experience, I will no longer be bringing my dog to this grooming salon, I simply wish the staff was willing to aid me in coming to a solution rather than telling me, I'm a neglectful pet parent through a policy, they couldn't even show me. My dog is a senior and has had redness on his feet his entire adult life, his feet smelled completely normal and we're not showing any signs of yeast overgrowth. It was unfortunate that I was being gaslit by staff into thinking that my dog is in distress and in dire need of going to the vet when in reality he stepped on wet soil before going into the groomer when he was going to the bathroom and he is completely fine. That was also confirmed after sending photos of the alleged incident to my LICENSED veterinarian who agreed, my dog isn't having a serious infection or yeast overgrowth. Love it or hate it, PetSmart has it all in the world of pets. Food, litter, litter boxes, toys, and more. This store has a very warehouse feel - a bit dimmer than other PetSmarts and a bit more industrial feeling. Not sure why, but it doesn't always make sense where product is located. I was trying to find litter deodorizer and instead of being located near the litter - any litter - it was located in the fish aisle. It was a just a bit weird. The cashiers are not necessarily expedient as they are required by their corporate metrics to sign people up for awards and credit stuff that it seems that's the push. It is fine - just don't expect to pop in and pop out. read more

I brought my Newfie and Saint Bernard here for a groom yesterday. Once I was home (and after they had their long naps) I realized their "groom" was maybe a brush, as opposed to a full groom. My Saint Bernard was still wet, to the point I had to towel him down (sensitive skin + wet fur = skin infections), and my Newfie still had tangles and mats (she mats easily behind her ears and privates area). Usually, literally every other time I have brought her to this location, these areas are fully brushed out, and trimmed if needed. This did not happen yesterday. I paid for the "Summer Groom" bundle, yet I couldn't tell you if they brushed their teeth, and the grooming obviously wasn't done, and neither had a Summer bandanna. After spending $180, plus a $50 tip, and bringing home a wet dog and a not poofy/groomed dog, I will not be returning to this location. read more

Today we did our first full from for our 4 month old pet Jax! Our groomer is Emily, and this is our second time with her. She's outstanding. Make sure you book with her because she makes sure that your puppy is left happy and looking awesome. She made sure that my pup was smelling good, showed me the size she was cutting the fur down too, and made sure his ears were all clean! The store itself always has a great variety of stuff, I'd rather go to petco though for the prices but still good. I dropped my dog off in good faith that she would be seen with the upgraded services I added upon checking her in, all while we are talking, the lady checking her in gave my dog a once over, not noticing ANY scabs or open wounds. After about 30-40 mins, I got a call stating the groomer had her hand over the spot, or may have "missed" it but Daisy had a "cut" or "bleeding sore" on her foot therefore forerting the remainder of her appointment due to store policy. I asked when and where did this take place because she didn't have any scabs or open wounds prior to me dropping her off. She mentioned on the phone only paying for what she did do; ears, paw pads and teeth brushing. Either way, I had to pick her up without the completion of her requested services. Once I got there, conveniently the lady who did the service was gone for the day and suddenly there was no charge. I am not psychic, but my senses tells me I was lied to and the nicked my dog during the appointment. I DO NOT recommend this location. read more

We went to PetSmart to order meds for our cats and were able to place the order for the 2 items we needed and received an email back that they had received the order. After a week reach back out to them to find out what was going on with the items we had ordered only to find out that they are out of stock and they don't know when they will be back in stock. Now 8 days later we now have to go through the process of finding the items elsewhere and get our vet to send an prescription to the new place. The whole issue is they should have flagged the items as out of stock so we didn't waste 8 days before we found out they didn't have it. see email response: "I was able to get in contact with the pharmacy and unfortunately, the item you ordered was out of stock and the pharmacy is not sure when the items will be back in stock. I do see that you have not been charged yet so the authorization hold will fall off in 5-7 business days. You will also be receiving an email confirmation of the order being cancelled soon as well." Do not use them for pet meds because you can't trust that the item is in stock and they don't notify you that it is out of stock..... read more

I just finished Beginner Puppy Training with my 6-month-old Golden Retriever. She already knew a bit of her basic training, but I wanted to socialize her with both other dogs and people. Rylee was her teacher, and I could not have been happier with her. My puppy adored Rylee and she had a lot of fun in the classes. The price was good for 6 full hour-long classes. Even after owning Goldens for decades and going through numerous classes with them at different places I still learned a lot from Rylee. So this is my go to spot to get my things for my bulldog puppy. He also gets his grooming here. The staff is always really friendly and they just love having my puppy there. The isles are kept clean and pretty spacious. They have everything you could need for any animal you might have. If you have any questions, the staff are pretty knowledgeable and are more than willing to help or get someone that can. There is plenty of parking with a couple of spots for curbside. I have yet to use it, so I can't really give a review about that part. I like being able to bring my puppy in to get more interaction with people and other pets. Such a great experience! Staff are all friendly and helpful. The groomer that helped me today was Emily and she did SUCH a fantastic job on my Maltipoo. He hadn't been groomed for months because I'm new to Washington and couldn't find anyone I trusted to leave him with. But he got pretty matted from his running harness so I had to find somewhere quick so he could get groomed and more comfortable. Emily did everything I asked and he looks great. She got all the mats out and he's back to being a happy puppy again ! I'm sure all the groomers here are wonderful after this experience, but I'm definitely gonna stick with Emily. I called PetSmart to inquire about Nail Grinding/Trim services for my Service Dog and was told I had to schedule an appointment online for this. When I could not find this service online I called the store to ask about it. The person I spoke with was the supervisor (I did not know that at the time) who was very rude and disrespectful to me. She was very unhelpful and gave me wrong information. I kept asking her about it and told her I could not find Nail Grinding services online. She abruptly told me to go somewhere else to have this done. I asked her if they are doing this service in the store or not, but she never answered my question. She told me I should go to Petco instead. She then accused me of yelling at her and then hung up the phone on me. I called PetSmart back and asked to speak with the supervisor. I got the same woman again and when I asked if she was the same person I had just spoke with she said yes. She, again, spoke very rudely to me and said she wasn't going to argue with me on the phone. I told her I was not arguing, I was just trying to get some information. I am a physically disabled person with a Medical Alert Service Dog and it is imperative that my Service Dog has his nails trimmed each month, as this is a Health issue for him. She was very rude, uncaring and insensitive, had a very bad attitude and treated me with such disrespect. This is extremely unprofessional for any employee, especially for a supervisor! I don't know if this is some form of Disability Discrimination, since I mentioned it is my Service Dog that needs services, but I feel like I've just been discriminated against based on being Disabled My Service Dog is the only "Family" I have left and means everything to me! I've been coming to this PetSmart since moving to this part of town. It's located in the busy shopping plaza where Target, Game Stop, and other little shops are, but across the way, so you don't have to deal with all the cars and foot traffic. The parking lot is large, so no worries on finding a good spot. They also offer curbside pick up if you choose to do so. There isn't a Banfield hospital located at this store, like most. I normally come to shop for cat food, treats, litter, and toys. I recently went to purchase raw foods for my feline, and there were only 2 options versus the endless options for dogs. I also bought a bag of Science Diet dry food. Next to it, is a stack of $5 coupons you can use at the register. Any little savings counts now-a-days. The store is really clean, but do watch out for little accidents from irresponsible owners that don't clean after their pets. There are cleaning stations for a reason. The staff is very friendly and helpful as well. I have always had a team member walk me to the designated area that I needed to find something. Check out is straight forward and easy. Don't forget to punch in your number for your loyalty card. You can build points to redeem as cash later. I can't say anything about the grooming department here as I groom my cats. They also price match items if you can show them on your phone. I'm pretty much a regular here and will continue to do business with this location. read more

This review is for the grooming department. I brought my dog to this location for the first time yesterday, but I've been going to PetSmart's all over the country for years. I've always been impressed with the care of PetSmart's grooming, training, day camp, etc- but this grooming salon just doesn't live up to the standard. I called ahead and made an appointment for a Pawdicure Plus which is typically a walk-in appointment. When I got to PetSmart, another groomer checked us in, verified my dog's updated vaccines, and despite not having any other customers they told us that the groomer we were scheduled with was on lunch so told us to walk around for a few minutes in the store and they would call for us overhead. They never called us overhead. I waited 15 minutes, went back, and the groomer we were scheduled with- Emma- made us get our vaccine paperwork back out even though it had already been verified. She didn't give us the bandana the Pawdicure service comes with, and I don't think she actually brushed my dog's teeth by the look of them. She also said that she wasn't able to express anything from my dog's anal glands, but I suspect she just didn't try. Needless to say, we won't be back despite the long history of loving PetSmarts elsewhere. read more

I've never been to this location so I was excited to see what I would find. Nice location by other big name stores (Target, Hobby Lobby) and the parking was quite easy and plenty of parking spaces, clean parking lot and all of the "poop bag" stations were full! (That makes me happy) Came to the store prepared to buy dog food and of course we leave with toys! The store had a well thought out floor layout with great signs to help navigate through the store. What I loved the most was the extra 60% off discounted toys at the front of the store. Terri was more then happy to help us get our additional discount and even had me rambling on about my own dogs. It's nice to shop somewhere where I feel welcome and this Petsmart definitely gave me that warm welcoming feeling. read more

1. The carts are kept outside. I went into the store, looked around for a cart, then walked back outside in order to get a cart. I have seen two other people do the same. It's just not customer-thoughtful. I don't care so much for myself, but this is an area with a lot of assisted/retired living apartments around. This would be more than a mere inconvenience to an elderly person. 2. Many of the carts I have gotten have broken security straps, the straps that are secured to a dog to make sure they don't jump out. This is a safety issue that needs to be addressed. 3. Now for the good, which is why I gave it a 3 (it's ok) rating instead of a 1 or 2. The staff are helpful and even assisted me in assembling a crate. That was very appreciated. read more

Groomer: If I wanted to be shamed about what a mess my dog is, I would have gone to my mother in laws house. I KNOW he is a mess - that's why I brought him to YOU!! I hurt my back 6 months ago and he hasn't had a bath since. The person behind the counter here was so condescending and shaming that I walked out, took my dog home and gave him a bath myself, ruptured disk and all. It was 2 hours of agony to give him a bath myself, but I would hate to see how they would treat my poor dog if they treat their CUSTOMERS that bad - and HE can't complain. read more

I've been here plenty of times, shopping for fish supplies, lizard food and dog toys and for getting my dogs nails cut. Always greeted when I walk in which is nice. Sometimes it's hard to find the fish lady but all you gotta do is wave someone down. The dog grooming department is great. I've had all great experiences. They love animals and accommodate whatever is needed. My medium/large sized dogs are slightly neurotic and hyperactive but they always handle them with care. My dog needed a haircut, he got one. It was perfectly fine aside from too many nicks for my liking on his skin. But what disturbed me the most was when I went to pick up my dog, and I saw two groomers, working on this beautiful black toy poodle, and to get her to not freak out as much...they held her down UNDER A TOWEL...I didn't say anything because it wasn't my place, but its been inside my head ever since. My dog was very matted and they took care of that, and they said he was a good boy, but my heart broke for that poodle. read more

As I stood there waiting for my pup I saw this "groomist" falling asleep while cutting this other dogs hair. I've seen a lot in my lifetime and I know what a person on drugs looks like and she definitely was coming off whatever she did. So as I stood there she woke up enough to grab the nail clippers and was about to cut this dogs tail! Right when I saw this I yelled out "What are you doing!? Why the fuck are you about to cut the tail with nail clippers?! Why are you falling asleep!!" The other groomist looked at me like WTF. I WAS PISSED OFF, I STILL AM. If my pup was in this person's hands, I don't know what I would of done. All she says is "I'm tired." Yea I know why you are. I ask to speak to the manager and this other woman says she's the manager and does nothing, just standing there not knowing what to do. I ask to speak to the store manager and this younger, taller guy comes in. I tell him what happened and then I walked out with my pup. Not but two minutes later I see him walk out and she's back to grooming. I bring this to everyone's attention who love their animals who happen to their pets to this location for grooming. BE CAREFUL. As for my pup and I, we won't be going there ever again. PetSmart I REALLY HOPE YOU UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS SERIOUS AND TAKE SOME ACTION. read more

I've loved PetSmart since the first one opened in Pierce County! They're so much cheaper than PetCo, especially when you're buying live fish! OMG, PetCo is like double to triple the price on some fish, especially Neon Tetras! But I mainly shop at PetSmart for cat food and cat supplies, and again PetSmart has the lowest prices I've found anywhere! I've even found some things here cheaper than Wal-Mart, which is often amazing. Another thing I notice at PetSmart is that they have some of the friendliest, most helpful employees! I don't expect friendly staff at a pet store, so it impresses me to find them here! I'll forever be a huge fan of PetSmart, not matter which store I go to! My sister likes them so much she drives from Shelton to their Olympia store just for her cat stuff. My vote for the best pet supply place on the planet. Until I find one better and cheaper, I don't think my opinion will change anytime soon. read more

So, I'm not the hugest fan of the chain pet supply places, mostly for no good reasons and lots of presumption that other people could tell me the good reasons not to be a fan... but, I gotta say, today made me like this place just a bit more... First, our dog seems to have a way of losing her tags/destroying her collars... so, before she goes off to Auntie N.'s for a few days while we're away, we figured we should get her a tag to replace the one she just lost, lest we lose her! Enter our local petsmart and their instant tag engraving machine. Except this store's machine was broken worse than a presidential campaign promise. So, when we tried to ask the closest employee where the next nearest Petsmart was so we could find one with a tag-maker that worked. She proceeded to rattle off ten different stores (most of them not petsmarts) where we could find what we needed, quickly, and close-by. That was awesome customer service. read more
