Do Not Use The Pet Hotel! The employees are incompetent! We used this hotel 3 times and each time had a problem!! We had 3 grooming appointments, one for each hotel stay . Our dog was NOT groomed any of the three times ! Each time they assured us the dog would be groomed ! They made notes on it etc.... But never groomed! The hotel blamed the grooming dept and the grooming dept blamed the hotel. Plus you can't get a hold of the hotel when you call ! No one ever picks up the phone! I had a TERRIBLE experience with the PetsHotel at this location. In the past, my cat boarded without incident at other PetSmart locations outside the NYC area as well as with his previous vet. I recently had a trip planned and made a reservation to board my elderly cat while I was away. Upon arrival, I completed all the necessary paperwork, then was asked by the employee to wait while he got settled into. Didn't catch her name, but it was a young woman with long hair and a septum piercing. Less than 5 minutes later, the employee came back out, still holding my cat's carrier, and told me they would not be able to board my cat because he hissed at her and posed a danger to the staff. My cat is the furthest thing from dangerous. He's old, anxious and has early dementia. I asked whether I could come to the back and help him get settled in (other PetSmart locations and his previous allowed this) but I was flat out told no. I explained to the employee that I was traveling and had a flight to catch and needed them to honor my reservation, but she was not the least bit helpful. I asked her what I should do under the circumstances and all she could come up with was I should download a pet sitter app and make other arrangements, as if that would be a possibility at the last minute. If your policy is to refuse to board an anxious animal, that should be made clear upon making the reservation. Alternatively, you should consider requiring a screening ahead of time to make sure there won't be any issues at drop-off. Instead, your employee was completely unprofessional and clearly, has ZERO customer service skills. She left me in a terrible bind as I was traveling and had nobody who could take care of my cat at the last minute. I had to tearfully plead with the leasing office of my building for help and they connected me with another building resident (whom I've never met) who agreed to check in on him from time to time. Fortunately, he was ok when I returned, but was crying and very anxious. I'm grateful the outcome wasn't worse. I will never again shop at this PetSmart or any other PetSmart location for that matter. From now on, I'll stick with Petco and the local mom and pop shop in my neighborhood. read more

So this is the second time Dawn L. groomed my two year old peekapoo and I cannot get over what a nice job she does! Lucy's terrified of getting groomed but Dawn is so gentle with her and I feel at ease knowing she'll be in good hands. Lucy had a TON of knots (totally my fault for not keeping up with it) and Dawn suggested we do the CHI package so it won't hurt as much when she brushes (didn't feel like she was trying to up sell). Lucy was there 8am-12pm which is longer than usual but I really can't complain. 5 stars to Dawn's professionalism and amazing work! Totally would recommend her. read more

The person who works at the dog day camp was very rude to us and handled our dogs in a very rough way. The person's name is Allison and she was dragging and forcing our 7lb dog among 5/6 large breed dogs even when our dog is clearly not comfortable with it. She then complained to us about our dog being non-cooperative. Please make sure Alison gets the training she needed on handling dogs and if she dislikes dogs so much please let her work in a different department. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG TO GET GROOMED HERE. I took my dog to get groomed here today and he came back a choppy mess. I told the groomer to cut down the body and leave his face puffy like a teddy bear. The groomer did opposite; left his body very puffy and cut off all his facial hair. His head to body ratio looks soooo weird. My poor dog looks like beetle juice when that guy sprinkled something on him to make his head smaller. The hair is choppy and looks like my 7 year old niece did it. I should have asked for a refund. My puppy stayed at the Secaucus location for 5 days. He was completely healthy before dropping him off at the location. When I went to pick up my puppy, I noticed a slight choking sound. My partner and I did not think anything of it. By Saturday, my puppy was making a choking suffocating sound and I immediately contacted the Assistant Manager at the location. I asked him if there were any cases of kennel cough or any sick dogs in the space and I was informed that there weren't any cases and that all dogs were healthy. On Sunday, I almost couldn't sleep because it had gotten worse and was so afraid that my puppy's condition may have escalated. I took him to the vet, and he was diagnosed with Canine Respiratory Disease Complex and a fever of 103.7F. I immediately panicked because if I would have waited another day, my puppy would have been at a 24 hour emergency facility. I contacted the PetHotel, was told by the Manager that there was nothing they can do to prevent this from happening. I just hope that they can do a better job at cleaning this place up because there must be a ton of germs and bacteria laying around. I am not sure if the cleaning solutions they use are enough to disinfect the place. This ended up being expensive because not only did I had to pay my pet hotel bill, but I also had to pay a vet bill. My puppy looks like he is recovering but he is only on his first day of recovery taking 3 different forms of medications. Hoping my puppy feels better by the end of this week. read more

Received great recommendation from a neighbor who has used the Pet Hotel, and decided to board my 6 month old puppy for 48 hours as we were going out of state. Picked up puppy around 10:30am. Puppy couldn't get out of there fast enough... And no wonder! As soon as I got her in the car, my husband asked "what's that smell? And what's that??" Half her back side was covered in what looked like dried feces - yuck! As soon as we arrived home, took her to the back yard so we could wash her, and she could relieve herself. The poor puppy had really bad diarrhea!! We provided our own dog food, so we knew it wasn't from change of food. So, she caught something nasty while being boarded - glad she was there only 48 hours not longer... God knows what else could've happened to her. Obviously, PetSmart disappointed us with their lack of care and attention. We will not be returning and will definitely not recommend!! read more

Zero stars. My dog was boarding at the Petsmart pet hotel. For whatever reason he had bloody diarrhea and was brought to the vet at Banfield. The vet initially said she wanted to conduct a few tests, that would have cost me over $500 if I let them. I reminded that person, he has been in the pet hotel premises this whole time. It's not like I took him hiking in the wild. Then she agreed to simply give him some diarrhea med. after that conversation, some other lady called and I couldn't answer because I was away, on vacation. Then this lady called five times after without leaving voice message. At this point my phone has less than 10 percent of battery. I had to answer the phone otherwise they will drain my battery completely. And this lady was rude and threatening me to put me to collection agency if I don't give her a credit card number and pay up. I had agreed to pay in two days when I go pick up my dogs from the pet hotel. She just couldn't wait. The reason my two dogs were in the hotel was because we went on vacation. Why can't they simply leave a voicemail and leave me alone. Let me handle it when I'm on WiFi, with at least 20% battery. Also, this happened while they were at the hotel. If I pay when I check out, why can't they charge me at the same time I'm checking out of the hotel? Together with the grooming and hotel bill?afterall, they are in the service industry. The grooming salon did not wash my dog well. His hair was dusty and the cut was jagged. His paws are dirty. Didn't look like they washed him at all. So after spending 5 nights at the pet hotel, I got a sick dog back, still having bloody diarrhea after the vet and the medicine, dusty and ugly from the groomers, and I have to pay over $500 for all these "services". I would like a refund because the hotel didn't take care of him and got him sick, the vet didn't fix his illness, and the groomer didn't clean him and gave him a terrible haircut. Almost a year later I come to find out what happened to Trouble due to me doing research after my recent experience at the Grooming Salon at Petsmart Secaucus. I would like to share with you: I dropped my 4yo Maltese Dog to get groomed at PetSmart Store #1487 at 2:30pm for a 3:00pm appointment. At 4:23 I received a call from Manager saying there had been an incident. The groomer clipped him on his back and they had taken him to Banfield Hospital #1487 right next door. She said they put glue on the injury because it was a superficial laceration. When I got there she changed the story and said that they put 3 staples in to keep the wound closed. And they injury was not on his back but on his stifle or knee. Why would staples be required if it was just superficial? After seeing the mutilation I called the police to have a report made. The vet at Banfield who treated him did not speak to me at all as she went home for the day. She did not prescribe any medication for pain or antibiotics. My half groomed and injured dog has to wear a cone for 2 weeks until the staples can be removed. I had to return with him to Banfield to get the antibiotics and pain medication that the first vet who saw him did not provide. The people they employ are there for an 8hour shift and only care about their paycheck. In my opinion, these grooming salons should rate their groomers and not have those inexperienced or with bad reviews do such work. If those in managerial positions would take charge and hold people accountable for the work they put out these mistakes would be avoided. After this experience, I was looking online and there are so many bad reviews for Petsmarts & Banfields all around the US that it is just unsafe place to take a pet. I've read about ear clipping, eye tearing and even a death due to inattentiveness by groomer. There are more but I did not read further as it is just too disturbing. In my circumstance, I don't even think the groomer was reprimanded. There is no trust in the people they employ. Store calls it grooming, Manager calls it incident I call it Mutilation. I hope something is done both at Petsmart Grooming/Petshotel/ & Banfield to not let any more innocent creatures suffer. read more

I reserved a spot for my Husky to attend their 'doggie-day-care' / 'pet hotel', as the Manager was apparently the head of a Husky rescue...When I entered, I was ignored and my dog was very scared...The attendant eventually took us in, removed my dogs leash, collar, and ID and asked me to fill out a contract relieving them of any liabilities!.. First of all, the dogs ID collar stays around her neck...It's a pinch-disconnect, so you can easily remove it, if needed...You can't control a dog without a collar and your medical tape can be easily torn off while playing...Her ID also has my name and contact on it as well as her Vet and vaccination info... if there's a fire or some sort of evacuation, what then?..It does me no good to have that in my car - that belongs with the dog... And also what's this contract thing about?..Relieving you of any liabilities?..NO WAY!..If my dog is in your care, she is your responsibility...I can't discipline my dog from work when she's at your facility!..And what if you step on her tail and she bites you?..That's my fault?!? The manager (shall remain nameless), who supposedly works at a Husky rescue took my dog by one of their leashes and DRAGGED her into the play area...My dog was resisting whole-heartedly...Once I saw this I hip-checked the attendant and took back my dog...You have to make the dog want to follow you...Positive reinforcement goes much further than negative pressure...They tried to charge me for the reservation, but because I didn't actually stay, I refused and stormed out... Normally I wouldn't bother reviewing a huge chain, but this story REALLY has to be shared because it is so insane. It's a little delayed as I didn't have a Yelp account when the event occurred, but again, still a story worth sharing. A few years ago I rec'd a notification in the mail that I had been part of a group of consumers who'd purchased one of the mainstream canine heart worm preventative meds out of a lot/batch that had been made improperly (% of active ingredient was too low). The notification instructed me to report to any local PetSmart to obtain a full refund. I went to the Secaucus NJ PetSmart with notification in hand (as instructed) and ran into the THEN assistant manager (not sure if this lunatic is still employed at PetSmart or anywhere for that matter), but he refused to honor the refund. Reason: slow adult syndrome. Seriously, he couldn't understand the notification and insisted that "no one else had come to the store with such a notification". The guy seemed to have a borderline IQ, like just slightly above the cutoff for mental retardation. I went home and put in a call to the store's manager who responded by BANNING me from that PetSmart location for "refusing to let the issue go/accept the assistant manager's answer". No joke, the giant dipsh*t actually "banned" me. This was clearly one of those cases in which someone hasn't really succeeded in life and they're angry about it. They get a tiny bit of (relative) "power" over others and they use that "power" in an abusive way to try to fool themselves into thinking that they are relevant (which they are not, obviously). Anyways, little big man PetSmart manager with his "power" to ban unruly complainers was of course promptly reported to PetSmart corporate (and as such I seriously doubt he's currently employed by PetSmart...). Ultimately, PetSmart Corporate sent me a letter of apology (nice touch!), a gift card, and of course, the heart worm preventative refund I originally sought. The moral of this story is that some seriously questionable staffing choices were made (again, a few years ago) at this particular PetSmart location. The good news is that PetSmart corporate responded appropriately, but really, the situation should never have gotten as far as it did. Again, I know nothing about the current upper echelon over there at PetSmart Secaucus, but given the two asshats I had the misfortune of interfacing with during my last experience, I would never ever go back, particularly with the myriad choices available in this area for pet care products. read more

I don't EVER leave reviews, but I just had to warn people who are thinking of boarding their pets at the PetsHotel. On Friday, July 9th, I called this PetsSmart to ask about how their boarding works and whether or not I can make a reservation in time. The lady on the phone asked when I was going to pick up my dog (which I told her was Sunday) and I let her know that I could only come around 8PM which she said was completely fine (mind you, the store closes at 6PM, so the lady lied) I come Sunday, and the store is closed. No biggie, I call and say if he could stay an extra day and they accepted. Today, I went to go pick up my 2-Year-Old Pitbull and he was absolutely TERRIFIED. He was skinnier, he was shaking, and he wasn't even happy to see us. I paid for them to cut his nails and give him a bath. He came out with cuts all over his paws AND all of his nails weren't even CUT. They pretty much half-assed it, and he smelled like they just dumped water on him (gross wet dog smell) rather than actually GIVE him a bath. I can tell my dog CLEARLY didn't enjoy his stay at all. He was SO much skinnier than when I dropped him off and eat like he had never eaten before when I got home. He also was dying for a walk because he hadn't used the bathroom. Be VERY careful with letting your dog stay here. You will never know how they actually treat your dog. My dog, by the way, is NOT aggressive in ANY way, despite him being a pit bull, which is the reason some of you might say it was my dog's fault. I know it wasn't, and I am NEVER BRINGING MY DOG HERE EVER AGAIN. This place is sketchy. PetsSmart, step your shit up. This is unacceptable and disgusting. How dare all of you. read more

If there were possibly a negative 1million star rating that's what I would rate this PetHotel! I arranged for my 13 year old Havanese dog and my son's 6 year old LabShepard dog to share an atrium room my family vacation. Worst decision ever! Our dogs were left in PetSmart Hotel care on Friday (in good health) and picked up on Monday in very poor health. We have been up to our ears in doggie diarrhea since (going on 4 days now) - Both dogs have been to the vet and we are waiting for the parasite test result now. The managers that I have spoken with on the phone offer no explanation other than "We have many, many, dogs that go home with diarrhea which could last possibly for a week to ten days" Are you kidding me?! Had I known that my dogs were going to suffer for 2 weeks with illness just so I could go away for a weekend, I would never board them at PetSmart! Not to mention the cost! I paid almost $400 for the boarding and grooming - then another $232 on top of that for the vet visit and meds. My dogs have been boarded at other Pet Hotels before including Pet mart East Hanover, NJ with no medical issue upon their return home. Never again! I urge anyone considering boarding your dog here - to research other pet sitter alternatives. If you love and care for your dog - you will not leave them here and risk the health and well being of your beloved pet. read more

It's a national chain pet store. Tons of merchandise to sell and usually sold by kids looking for a job. The workers are not experts but they can be helpful. Looking for stuff and easy questions are things they can usually handle. Most cannot go into the plus and negatives over raw diets when compared to organic kibble. That's the way it is. The groomers have always been good with me and my dogs. No complaints and my dogs can be a handful. The hotel. If you love your pet, please for the love of god, don't leave them here. My guys always came back sick. Respiratory or Stomach infection; 3 strike and they are out. never again. You have to pay extra for the workers to take your dog out of the crate. BS!!! DO NOT let your pup stay here. Not even for the day camp. I have a (now) 7 month old German Shepherd, and they have no idea how to care for her. First, why would they have one person to handle a room full of dogs? Why would they accept her in knowing that she's a high energy breed? I brought her in 3 times total: 3 for day camp, one including a board stay. My husband brought her in the 4th time, and when he picked her up, the girls at the front everything went well, that she had a good day. Not even an hour later, a young man calls me to say that she had to be pulled out of camp, and had one to one time, that she's too much for the small dogs. Also, if it happens again, they'll have to ask us to not bring her back. I said fine, I won't use your services any more. He said, ok. That was it. My husband calls him since he's the one who picked her up. Turns out, this young man was being the messenger for the girls in front. They didn't have the courtesy to have this discussion with my husband face to face. This could have been addressed right then and there. This store does not know how to handle dogs, especially larger breeds. If you look in the play room, even the little dogs look terrified. This is an observation without my dog there after the fact. One person to a room full of dogs. Makes no sense. I doubt there's any formal training. Stay away from this location unless you want ignorant ghetto trash handling your pet. read more

When we took our cat in to the PetsHotel, she was active, friendly, and docile. On checking in regularly with the staff, we were told that she was happy and friendly, and enjoyed playtime. We brought her back home and noticed a few things: 1. She had a cut on her back, just between the shoulder blades. The staff denied any knowledge of this cut. The manager actually said that the cat did it to herself. 2.Her behavior had changed. Drastically. She was aggressive for the first two days. Almost a week later, she is still fearful and extremely clingy. 3. She shakes severely while trying to fall asleep and even then, sleeps with half an eye open. 4. As soon as we brought her home, she made a beeline for the water fountain and gulped down water as if she hadn't had any in a while. 5. When we tried to put her favorite collar on her return, she got upset and somewhat aggressive. She kept yowling and pushing us away. 6. The staff are supposed to give you a progress report for your pet on check out. I asked for it and the lady helping me out went in and returned about 15 minutes later with a hurriedly written piece of paper. Other things noticed while waiting to check out: 1. The doggy playroom is small and poorly kept. 2. They had large and small dogs together in the playroom. The smaller dogs were frantically pawing at the door. 3. A couple of dogs in the "rooms" were howling miserably. 4. The cats in the window looked terrified and were shaking. All in all, this has been a traumatic experience for our cat and us. The staff at the PetsHotel are not helpful in the least and clearly lack any proper training in animal care. read more

Not exactly a fan of this particular PetSmart. Seems a little run down compared to the others in the area. Plenty of parking and tons of clothing accessories for your pooches however, I think those are the only positive parts. The floors were very dirty, there was literally pee and paper towels everywhere I looked. I brought my new puppy to the pet hospital they have there to get him his first set of shots and I honestly didn't even want him walking on those dirty floors. With the staff members, it's either a hit or a miss. Some have more knowledge and are more helpful than others. While I was there, I left my puppy with my mom waiting for our appointment and browsed the store. I noticed they had a pet hotel and a doggy day care. I was watching the doggy day care and was completely unimpressed. The worker inside seemed just beyond unhappy to be there. A dog literally went up to her and she shoved he or she away and started spraying the dog with the water bottle. The dog literally didn't even do anything. There was also a lot of pee inside on the ground in here as well with all the dogs running around and playing on. Overall, I'm not a fan and there are much better places in the area. read more

I have visited several Petsmart stores in NJ and I consider this place to be the best. The employees are really helpful and caring. I have a Pitbull n hes hyper-active and does not get along with other dogs...so going in Pet store is risky. The employee, Remus, helped me out really well. I asked him what I need and he went over my list and got me all the stuff I needed for my dog. He also suggest me the right food and also explained why I should use it. I just have a complain regarding their toys( not blaming any employee for this but the company itself)...My dog loves to play his animal toys but so far I had no luck in getting him the right one...he does not like to play with a rope or a ball n is cheerful when he see animal soft toys....he was successful in ripping off the toy in 1 hour....I appreciate if the company can look into this and make some durable products ( animal toys) for big dogs. read more

My little guy has been going to PetSmart since he was a wee little pup. This is like his second home! We started here with Puppy Training for him (or rather, for me) and then moved on to Intermediate Training. He had a little graduation ceremony and everything - too cute! He has also been seeing his groomer since he had his first puppy cut. His groomer knows exactly how to cut his hair and he always looks fabulous. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. They always try their best to make your pet feel at ease. We have also used their boarding/day care facilities on many occasions. We have taken him for a day of play to overnight visits. What I specifically like about this facility is that there is someone available overnight. That was extremely important to me, as I want someone available in case of emergencies. PetSmart offers a variety of products - food, toys, clothing, supplies carriers - you name it. This is definitely our place to get our little guy looking and feeling good. read more

I recently boarded my dog aka my BEST FRIEND who is a senior dog, which I had the pleasure of loving and caring for him since he was 6 months old (and now he is 12 years old and still going strong). I boarded my BEST FRIEND for 11 days at the doggy hotel. Prior to dropping him off, he was in the Best Of Health, no issues whatsoever. Upon my return, the following (3) issues I immediately discovered. 1. One of his front tooth was missing. 2. On his belly, in an area where there was suppose to be his fur protecting his body, there is now no fur in that area, his skin is completely exposed consisting of a red raised gash approx. an inch long, and at the point, it is about to erupt and bleed out. 3. Severe case of diarrhea with blood in his stool. As a parent, you can imagine what was going through my mind, and mentally I had to gain control of my emotions. I immediately rush my dog to the veterinarian and my BEST FRIEND was treated with (3) different types of injections; (1) fluid and (2) types of pills - a total of (6) different medical treatments to nurse my BEST FRIEND back to where he was (great health). After I got my BEST FRIEND the necessary medical care he so desperately needed, I then focused my attention on PetSmart Hotel.....let the games begin!!! I originally wanted to reach the CEO of the company, but understood the rules surrounding the chain of command, so therefore, I contacted the manager at the PetSmart Hotel (not the store manager). The manager had no clue of how my BEST FRIEND sustained the injuries (stated above), which I am not surprise she had no clue. These are SERIOUS injuries, and the best defense is simply to say "I have no clue how your dog got those injuries". These were not over night injuries, and by the grace of GOD, I am so glad I came back just in time, because the injury on his belly was at the point that it was about to erupt and bleed out any day now. After the manager did not see or hear anything, and could not tell me nothing of value to do "damage control" in any capacity, I bypass any other managers in between and went straight to corporate headquarters (forget the rest of the chain of command). While speaking with the corporate office, I received a call from another manager at Pet Smart Hotel, which she said that she is a "higher manager" than the other manager I previously spoke to. I said okay great, thinking we will get to the bottom of this, and I was wrong. After going through the entire story, the manager ask me what do I want to be done. I said I want a FULL investigation as to how my BEST FRIEND sustained the injuries and I want a FULL refund, every penny I paid for the boarding, plus his emergency medical bill. She said, at best, she will see if Pet Smart will reimburse me for the medical bill, and if so, then that is all I can get, not the boarding reimbursement. I told her, "this conversation is over", "nothing else to talk about", because that is unacceptable. I did not pay for my dog to be subjected to the injuries he has sustained. Therefore, I redirected the communication back to corporate headquarters. A few days later, I received a phone call from the STORE MANAGER (he was on vacation during the time this all occurred), he is above both managers at the Pet Smart Hotel. He asks me questions about my BEST FRIEND'S health and to see how he is doing. The STORE MANAGER appeared to be very "concerned and sympathetic", and he was already brief on what I wanted. From that point on, the situation was handled very well. He said not a problem, you will receive a FULL REFUND of the boarding expenses and the medical expenses (both was done expeditiously). Also, a full investigation will be done. I already knew that nothing will come from the investigation, so that was not surprising when I was later told that he could not find any "negligence" on any of the staff members, but I felt differently. Now my BEST FRIEND, health wise, is back to himself (thanks to god), with (1) less tooth in his mouth, but still a cutie. I do realized that as a senior dog, some of his teeth in the front are loose, but not to the point that they will simply fall out. So the million dollar question is, how did the front tooth come out during his stay at PetSmart. For me, I will never know the answer, but I do have my own conclusion for how that may have occurred. I share my story, because us as "dog lovers" and "parents" need to share this kind of vital information, so us parents can make a better informed decision when considering to board our BEST FRIEND at the PetSmart Hotel. PS I am out of the "boarding business", no more boarding for me, my BEST FRIEND is in his golden years (stress free), and I will find a one-on-one method for my BEST FRIEND when I have to go away. I like this place. I'm not crazy about it, but mainly because I end up going crazy and buying my puppy a ton of things. They don't have a crazy selection of dog toys, probably because they're always selling out! Overall, the selection is nice and the staff are friendly. So friendly! I have him in Puppy Education classes now and we see a little difference, but we've just had his first class. At first I was concerned because our trainer looked like she was straight out of high school and I had the what-would-she-know mentality, but who am I to judge? When we got to our first class, I could tell she knew what she was talking about. Its always nice knowing that your dog trainer has a dog or two at home, or is a real animal lover, not just a trainer. Hope it goes well! The only CON is that though the training area is surrounded by three solid walls, the fourth wall is a glass wall connecting to the store. Which means people like to sit and stare and taunt your puppy (I'm sure not knowing that they're being distracting) while the training is going on. read more

Absolutely the worst customer service. Actually a complete lack of service. Associates rolled their eyes when I asked for assistance.

I have had several pleasently filled visits at this location. All of the staff were friendly and loved my pup. Grooming was especially friendly and they treated my pup with so much attention and love. Props to this location. read more

As an update, my dog did catch Kennel Cough from this particular establishment, despite being vaccinated. I haven't been back since. I did the right thing and called it in, but they didn't relay the message. The next day I went in person and none of the staff were aware, which I found very odd and I assume that means they didn't sanitize or deep clean anything, I'm not bringing her to this location anymore. There was no "I'm Sorry" or offer to pay for her vet visit. And the fact no one knew and probably so many other dogs contracted it is off putting. They should have deep cleaned the entire play and kennel area. read more

I advise anyone who is thinking about leaving your dog/cat at petsmart hotel... please re-think it. Because i left my dog here for 9 days and a lot of people told me not to because of all of the bad experiences they had and because of the reviews i read too, but i thought to myself "they must have good service if they have 4.2 stars"... but NO. My dog returned to me damaged. She was perfectly fine before the drop off date and when we picked her up i noticed a mark on both of her back legs. Idk how she could've gotten those marks because the marks are bigger in person (the pic makes it look smaller than it really is). I pray that abuse didn't happen to my dog and i'll never know bit this is something all dog owners SHOULD CONSIDER before thinking about leaving their dogs at petsmart. The other thing she returned to me was with KENNEL COUGH. AND APART FROM ALL OF THIS, I might be assuming, but i think they DID NOT feed my dog. I took her to the vet yesterday and she weighed 6 pounds lighter than she normally weighs. We LEFT INSTRUCTIONS FOR THEM TO FEED HER WITH TREATS BECAUSE SHE DOES NOT EAT WITHOUT TREATS. AND THEY RETURNED OUR TREAT BAG FULL.... COMPLETELY FULL, UNOPENED AND 6 lbs LESS OF A DOG. I had to pay out of pocket to the veterinarian and that WAS NOT CHEAP. I am DISAPPOINTED at petsmart . This was posted on the Paramus, rt 17 location but pertains to this location as well.. Figure I'd leave it on here also.. When you pay to have your dogs nails and anal glands expelled you would expect to have your dogs nails and anal glands expelled.. Nails, done.. One clipped blood vessel but done.. Anal glands on the other hand... When my dogs' been sharting up a storm and they "supposedly" expel his anal glands and tell you "nothing really came out" you should start to really consider their experience or lack their of.. About 5 mins after I left he begins to shart. Didn't think much of it, maybe some leftovers? But he's been sharting non-stop since.. We've had this problem with the secaucus location and also had a problem with one of their staff there being a brute with our pug.. If you're tugging on the dogs leg obviously the dog will tug it back.. You don't continue to tug on the leg.. It makes the dog uncomfortable and makes him panic.. Anyways, point is be leery of what you pay for.. You obviously don't know what they do in the back room where you can't see them and to pay for a service and not receive it really pisses me off.. Worst experience ever !! This place doesn't know how to treat any type of pets. Left my dog for one night, called the same day 5 minutes before closing the store to said there was an incident with him and we had to pick him up tomorrow morning. We made by 11am the next day my dog, smelled like pee, had poop on his paws, and was bleeding from his right front leg. For 2 days my dog couldn't walk Wasn't eating, just sleeping. Took him to the vet and she said i feel like someone might gave him Something to sleep. You guys are the worst and very cruel !! read more

People here don't give sssss about customers service,busy on their phone instead to smile to people that brings money in,

I've used their Pet Hotel service multiple times for the last few years and were very pleased with their service until lately As part of check in and check out my dog demonstrated the ability to walk unaided, but during her last stay there was a report that she had difficulty and was limping and therefore could not qualify for future stays at the Pet Hotel. However when she was checked out she had no problem walking and eliminating in front of me and the Pet Hotel employee. I asked the employee "Do you see that?" and all she could say was "Yes but the report...". I sarcastically asked if we could make a new report with the current situation but she did not help with that but simply said "She may be like that with only you." Driving back I realized this was during a heatwave and if she's forced to walk on hot concrete she would be in pain and it would look to a careless person that she was limping I wouldn't want them to take care of my elderly but capable dog anymore so it all works out in the end read more

I really can't understand why it takes so long to answer a call, especially the Pet Hotel and Day Camp. This tells me management is not paying attention. The first contact with the business sets the tone for the rest of the business which includes loyal customers. Imagine waiting 20 to 30 minutes and still no ones picks up.... read more

The hotel is awful. Dogs kept in cages not room as explained. When I picked my dog after 2 nights stay, she smelled so bad. Also came out so thirsty as if she never drink water the whole day. Only one person doing everything there that's why they never update you about your pet! read more
