And you didn't think to call beforehand? My cat had a grooming appointment at 8:30, off she goes and I went to pay for her services. Registers aren't open so I have to wait...outside. Staff monitoring door said I'm a security threat because I'm in store before 9:00 open, she also said I can't get back in until 9:00 open. A few minutes later (5-7 minutes) I'm let back in services rendered! Very nice gentleman opens register and I pay. Out by 8:48. I called and booked her reservation for grooming, call center gave me an 8:30 option I took it. So I originally submitted my complaint in real time the day that it occurred on 04-13-2024 on the official website under customer support after I picked my dog up from his grooming appt at Petsmart.But since Petsmart has failed to even acknowledge my official complaint let along reach out to me for more information to possibly remedy the situation,I will be posting my complaint on here with photos attached as proof. First,do not ever bring your pets to this grooming salon because they injure your pets & do not have the decency to tell you to your face that something happened.This is what happened when I picked up my dog from his most recent appt last month.I automatically knew something was off by the energy and how my dog was behaving.My dog is a very friendly & exciting dog,&when I picked him up, he was totally subdued,agitated,&antsy.He has never acted this way when picking him up from a grooming appt.Also it was the fact that (my dog has come to this salon multiple times at this point) the groomer herself did not meet me at their front desk like she usually does & hands my dog off to me to tell me how the appt went,how my dog did, etc.I'm use to very open &honest communication with them.But not this time.I noticed that the groomer had already started on another dog in the back &she talked at me real short like "yup he did good during his haircut".I thought nothing of it at the moment & I said "OK thank you"even though I'm used to a more personable experience with her.So another groomer handed my dog off to me at their front desk.Usually in a handoff, the groomer has control of the dog while I, the owner/dog parent, regain control by placing their collar and leash back on their neck simultaneously as the groomer is removing their leash.Nope, not this time she just released him free without completing the transfer of control,leaving me to gain control of my dog on my own as my dog is extremely antsy, agitated & uncomfortable,taking longer to regain control of my dog. The energy was still weird. I had even ordered the spring savings for this particular appt that included the coupon book and a cookie for my dog.Was it included in handoff?Nope.I had to ask that the groomer "Hey, where is the additional coupon book & cookie I ordered included with his haircut?"The other groomer says "Oh!" and walks to the back to give me my additional items that I had already ordered & paid for.Again,I'm thinking "Why did I even have to ask for the additional items included?" & to add insult to injury, I noticed majority of the coupon book dates were already expired.Wow! As soon as I get home,I noticed my dog had fresh bleeding spots in both ears, and his tail was nicked.I am now very upset & furious.When I went to pick my dog up the first thing that the groomer said(while she sat all the way in the back) "He did well during his haircut".If he did well,why is he bleeding in BOTH of his ears?You injured him &you did not tell me! I'm sure the groomer saw he had huge fresh blood spots in both ears but she decided not to be honest & transparent with me& those fresh blood spots have turned into huge scabs on both of my dog's ears!(All photos attached below).My dog being injured in both of his ears &tail is the reason why my dog was acting differently.He was in pain and was obviously traumatized from his experience! It took my dog over a week to get back to his normal self, and as a dog parent that was very hard to watch & endure. That is why I submitted my claim in real time as I first noticed it,&the fact that Petsmart has not even tried to acknowledge my report about this situation that I submitted on their official website is very disheartening & lets me know that their first priority is not pet safety.I will never patronize or recommend their services ever again. as an excuse to shave them so low that nd say anything as if they were just hoping that I wouldn't notice.0 Stars,very unprofessional would never recommend if you actually care about your pets that is. read more

My beagle was groomed by Hailey. Upon arriving to pick him up, we were told that his nails were not cut / grinded correctly and that someone would fix... We watched them through the window "fix" it by being very rough with our 4 year old sweet pooch, practically putting him in a headlock. Appalled, we went back into the salon to put a stop to it, to which they picked him off the table and we could overhear the one groomer teaching Hailey that it's important to fully dry dogs' faces as that's the first place pet parents check... Our dog was given back to us damp in spots. I understand he doesn't love the dryer but I just feel like there's a way to get the job done without upsetting him and not having to hand us a wet dog. I just feel like bathers at PetSmart aren't trained properly and pets are treated like a number, without real care or compassion. Their services are grossly overpriced for what you get also. I picked up my pup from being groomed at the PetSmart on Charlotte Pike and he still has dry, untrimmed, smelly little pawpads, his tear stains are still crummy, his muzzle area yet has food debris, his private area was not cleaned nor trimmed AT ALL, and its apparent they got overzealous with the powder to grip the hairs in his ears because its all over the back of his ears & were obviously, never washed as the hair is a powdery tangling mess!! THIS is unacceptable!! I paid $82 for a BATH & FULL HAIRCUT; a PROFESSIONAL grooming. THIS is merely AMATEUR work!! Not even! EYE could have done a better job & this is my first dog! Cindy needs continued focused training on Feet/Face/Fanny before she graduates to full grooms & her manager, Marcia, needs to find HUMILITY!! -- I booked my Coton de Tulear a Bath & Full Haircut($55) with the Coconut SPAW add-on($27) & was met with the nastiest attitudes & the most half-hearted efforts in grooming service I've ever witnessed at a Petsmart in 6 years!! Granted, we arrived exactly 8mins late as the little guy was more indecisive than usual about finding the perfect spot to make his grass deposits at home, but such is no excuse for how absolutely underwhelming this experience was!! I received a call from Cindy in grooming as we were pulling into the parking lot at 8:07a, requesting that we arrive no later than 8:15a or reschedule. When I walked into the salon, Marcia(at the computer) and Cindy were at the front counter, Marcia confirmed my appt in the computer & the details of my grooming and Cindy asked if I wanted the same cut specifications as last time. We confirmed the lengths and I requested if she would cut his muzzle a bit shorter for water and sniffing-sake, but not completely shaved as he's often mistaken for a girl. She was very disgruntled at my request & said it would be an extra $8--she would have to use the scissors to cut shorter as her blade can't cut close. I agreed & Marcia asked if I wanted the nail grind added, I recalled the online package listed Coconut SPAW including the nail grind & catered to his white hair (hence why I chose it over our previous fav CHI® Package-- also including nail grind). Marcia said the nail grind isn't included & would be an extra charge bringing my total to $100.00!! for a 13lb WELLkept pup! I carefully agreed & left my pup for the grooming, went back home & immediately went to double check their listings online. I already knew what I'd find; we've groomed with Petsmart since I got him in 2015!! The Coconut SPAW did indeed, INCLUDE the nail grind! I called the salon back, initially spoke with Cindy, but she sounded as if she was too preoccupied & completely incapable of going over the grooming details, THE GROOMER HERSELF(smh), so she passed the phone to her manager, MARCIA! I asked Marcia to go over the grooming deails with me again. She read each item; the Bath/Full Haircut & its price, the Coconut SPAW & its price & the full descritption INCLUDING THE NAIL GRIND. I interrupted her & pointed out that she just read it inlcuded nail grind & she said, "No, I said nail trim!" I had had ENOUGH back&forth, I told her that I didn't appreciate her giving me the run around. I don't doubt that she looked at how young I APPEAR(good genes) & thought I was naive/careless enough for them to overcharge me & get away with it!! I mentioned this & her tone changed. She finally said in a condesending tone she will agree with me & "take the extra charges off FOR ME!!" OH! WHAT LUCK!!? Its not about doing FOR me, its about doing WHAT'S RIGHT! I asked her to give us the grooming booked, nail grind included & no extra scissoring needed; we have our own Oster & can get a closer cut at home! I have mostly groomed my mini poodle myself, but Sometimes have taken her to Petsmart at Bellevue 1 shopping center with Christy (who recently left Petsmart) and 3 times to Petsmart at Nashville West. My dog is very passive, has been groomed since she was a puppy and will 'help the groomer out' , for example holding her leg out while the leg is being trimmed. The first time at Nashville west, my dog came out looking great and was very happy. The second time (same groomer) she came home with a cut on her chest and only one ear had been cleaned. I spoke with the groomer who promised to be more careful. The third time when I went to pick up my dog, she was terrified, getting as close to me as possible at pick-up and burying her head in my armpit ... after we got home I found more gunk in one ear about the size of a raisen, and whats more she is now afraid of the comb. She always loved being combed, so much that If I held up the comb she would run to the couch to get combed out. Now the comb scares her and she wiggles and squirms as far away as she can get. You cant watch the whole grooming process so I dont know what happened, but its safe to say I wont be taking her there for grooming anymore. Probably combed roughly instead of slowly working out knots. Who knows what else happened at the Nashville West petsmart. The bathing area and kennel crates should also be behind clear glass so we can watch our dogs through the entire process. read more

Terrible customer service from the Banfield clerk. She literally sent me and my gf home with our two dogs because our paper work was invalid. We only came here to get their claws clipped and we were asked to provide paperwork of all their shots and history even though we were previously with the company, we will not be coming back. I only came to get their nails clipped, both of my dogs have their rabies tag on there collars, I don't know what else I would need. My long-haired cat was in desperate need of a bath and hair cut, so I decided to take her to Petsmart. I have to say that I was beyond impressed by the job that was done! The groomer, Sarah, did a fantastic job with my finicky diva and made her look like amazing!! I went with the "lion's cut" hairstyle and it looks great! I highly recommend her to anyone looking to get their feline friend pampered! The only downside is that cats cost a bit more to be groomed. Ended up spending $66 for the day (and that's a base price for a bath and cut). I wish cat grooming was a little more economical. :-) read more

Petsmart is often my favorite place to explore and shop, these times are very much deminished when I come across one certain employee, I'm not sure of her name but I remember vividly the way she made me feel. I am in the market for a bird and when I ask her about which type she recommends she overly exaggerated the cons and was very aggressive in changing the birds bedding. I was honestly scared for the creatures and wanted to take them all home. Having done my reading I knew that most of what she said was not true, granted there is some leeway on the amount of attention a bird needs but when the pamphlet says 30+ minutes and this woman says 3 hours minimum... needless to say she was desperate to kill my excitement. Another instance with this woman I had my finger in a birds cage, keep in mind I had visited this exact bird many times and we were familiar, she walked by and all but yelled at me that I was messing up all her "taming". 1: I had been there the previous 3 days and she was not even working, 2: many other petsmart employees had walked by and congratulated me on my friend, 3: the bird had its head bowed and was eagerly pushing against me for head scratches, nowhere near upset. I was reprimanded without end on how I was teaching him to bite and undooing his tameing. Idk this is a long rant this woman just didn't make me want to buy these beautiful birds?! Worst experience I have ever had. I've been taking my dog to the same groomer for almost 2 years for a bath and brush only. He is half Pomeranian so his hair is finicky and when cut may or may not grow back. We make sure to never cut or shave his hair. I take him back to the same place I've been taking him for almost 2 years, and when I pick him up I noticed that he is shaved around his butt and underneath around his legs. When I asked about this, his dog groomer Toni, told me it "sanitation" and they always do that. I explain to her that I've been coming here for two years and not once has my dog ever been shaved, the only time he has ever been shaved in his life was for surgery and it was just on his paw. Not only did she shave my dog and lie about it, but she did a bad job of it. My dog now has a definitive square around his bike that is very noticeable, he has a few cuts from being shaved too close to the skin, and she didn't even do a evening job of shaving as it is patchy. I've never in my life seen a form of caretaker decide to Do what she pleases, and then lied to my face when I ask about it. I will never be returning and I advise that nobody brings their dogs here for grooming. What's worse is that Because my dog is part Pomeranian, and we have experienced that his hair is finicky when it comes to growing back, he may be stuck with this bad job forever. read more

I went in for medication for my new rats- I was so confused before I even walked in. As soon as I made it to the aisle and started to panic a guy, who I assume was the manager, came and helped- he explained they didn't have the certain medication I was after but he showed me different options that were similar (and he of course reminded me tht he wasn't a vet & couldn't suggest anything) but I was impressed by his knowledge of animal medication. It was really impressive and he was the sweetest! Even the cashier that rang me up was super sweet! I apologize for not reviewing this store location prior. I hit this store at least every two weeks for the baby's food! Many trips here and I've never had a bad experience. Managers and staff have always been helpful and friendly. I don't always take baby because she gets nervous but staff have been sweet to her when she did visit. I find prices fair on most products and there is a great selection here! I have not used the vet or groom services at this location. I only have a dog so all of my experience is with dog products. I have found quite a few deals on marked down items here, one was a carry bag for my vanity dog...$4! Can't beat that deal! When I arrived I was told by grooming manager woman that my appointment was at 915am and because I was late they canceled it. Basically, she was rude and treated me as though I was lying . It was only until I asked for the store manager did they figure out it was their human error and/or system error. I got my dog groomed here and he came back with abrasions on his chest and slight bleeding a few days later, possibly from the clippers they used. It took over three hours most of which I'm sure he was just sitting in a kennel in the back. They didn't seem to have treated my little buddy very nice and it was around fourty dollars. In this case, Petsmart really WAS Pet Smart. Our incredibly picky 12 year old Maltese decided that henceforth he would only eat the dark brown pieces, and not the light brown pieces in his food. It took us a while to figure out why there were large piles of light brown dog food all over the house until it dawned on one of us that this was the case. My husband and I have 2 dogs, but we actually come to the groomers for our cat! Our dogs are really small so we wash them in our kitchen sink. But our cat is super 'plump' and fluffy so he comes here maybe twice a year for the "Lion's Hairstyle". They do a great job! And I like the big windows so you can watch them grooming the pets. I believe they have a special cat groomer Monday thru Friday. I know they don't do cats on Saturday or Sunday because of how busy they are with dogs and the cats are easily frightened. This really cuts down on shedding at our house and I've noticed our cat is much more friendly after his hairdo - I'm attributing it to him feeling so fresh and so clean clean. It seems fairly small for a Petsmart. The live animal selection is fairly limited just a few basic snakes and rodents, does not carry nearly as many fish as a typical location. The vet and groomer though seem top notch. I've brought my dog in twice for unscheduled visits. Was checked in and seen within 10min at both offices. I only ever have the groomers do nail clippings but they do a great job because my dog fights whenever anyone tries to cut his nails. read more

The worst example of customer service I have ever I countered at a PetSmart. I arrived at 8:35pm after traveling 25 minutes for replacing my pump that had broken. Store closes at 9:00pm, at arriving at store an employee would not allow us in due to what he stated was a store wide register problem ( we had cash) and the store still had several customers inside paying at registers. As a customer was allowed out after paying for their order I asked to see manager and was told she was busy. I attempted to call store, an employee,Nathan, picked up the phone and as I started to voice my complaint he said to hang on and hung up on me. I called back 6 times and he hung up each time. Good to buy products from but please don't buy reptiles from this store. Their selling bearded dragons as juveniles but they're hatchlings at least. I saw one in there the size of my pinky and it might be cute that they stack up on top of each other but that's because they aren't getting proper lighting. We've used a lot of the services at this Petsmart over the first year of having a dog. We did puppy training classes, which were great. Convenient timing and we enjoyed the instructor a lot. We also got Penny bathed here many times - I love how convenient it is to make an appointment and the groomers are really great. It's also a great place to pop in for a quick nail trim/grind (no appointment necessary) and we've never had to wait long. Finally, Penny loves getting treats from all the sweet cashiers at checkout. It may be a chain, but the people here make this location 5-star worthy! read more

Yes, I'm reviewing a Petsmart and giving it a glowing review at that. Please let me explain myself before you start doubting my reviewing abilities. A little back story: I have an extremely energetic, mischievous, sweetheart of a dog. He's 9 months old and he's the first dog I've had all on my own since the age of 8 weeks, so naturally there is a bit of a learning curve, especially when it comes to training. (lesson #1: dogs can/will eat contact lenses) I constantly find myself in Petsmart replacing destroyed toys, etc, and since I'm kind of a nomad lately, have been to every Petsmart in the greater Nashville area over the last several months. I have never received such excellent customer service as I have at the Nashville West Petsmart. There are several examples I could give, but most recently I took my little (70 pound) troublemaker here to look for a bark collar. I know, I know, I didn't want to, long story. So I'm standing in front of the case with the approximately 86 options of different ways to shock the hell out of your disobedient pup when an employee approaches me and starts to explain the differences. Then she asks why I think I need a bark collar... I explain the situation and she asks if I've considered their training classes..... (I've always been skeptical of chain store services like training, but I politely listened to her spiel) She then goes to get the actual trainer, who gives me several things to try to get him to stop. The helpful tips would have been enough to impress me, but then she asks if I have a few minutes to try it out! We went over the training area and she literally started to train my dog. right then. for free. and just the 20 mins or so she spent with him made a difference. She then let me in a little secret for how to get a discount on the training classes. We're now, of course, signed up for classes starting soon. Update to come. read more

There are really four businesses - the merchandise, Banfield, the grooming area and pet training. 1. Store - it is a smaller Patsmart but I usually find what I need, good clearance items as well. Staff is helpful and overall good experience. Store is clean. 2. Banfield - I like the vet at this store - Banfield in general is over priced but the people working at this location are helpful and will do their best to work you in or get an appointment. Usually they have a coupon on their website for a free inital visit. 3. Grooming - caution - they have cut my dog's nails too short and hurt the dog. Another dog came out covered in loose hair and I had to ask the manager to have the dog regroomed. Unless you have a groomer you like, I would pass on this. 4. I went to this Pet Smart yesterday in an attempt to get my dogs' nails trimmed. We just moved to Nashville and I've taken them to the same PetSmart (on Chippewa) in St. Louis for years and always been very happy with the service. I have two small dogs and because of the horror stories I've read of mistreated dogs in the care of others, I never leave them alone at the groomer. I still like to be comfortable with those handling my dogs even while standing on the other side of the glass. When my boyfriend and I walked in, the first thing I saw as we rounded the corner to the grooming salon door was a tiny yorkie being groomed. I noticed that the poor thing was clearly scared of the grooming clippers and doing its best to try to stay away from them. The next thing I saw, is the reason we walked out before even opening the salon door. The lady grooming the Yorkie, grabbed it by it's head and roughly dragged it back into the center of the table. I'm pretty sure I audibly gasped when I saw this, which made my boyfriend ask "what?". The groomer immediately made eye contact with me and knew I had seen her rough handling the, easily less than 5 LB dog. The other groomer in the salon was greeting a couple who had just walked in before us with their sizably larger dog. So we sat and waited for a minute before checking our dogs in and I continued to watch the lady with the Yorkie. The couple ahead of us tried to take pictures of their dog being groomed and were immediately stopped by the yorkie groomer, prompting me to think that they have been in trouble before and with photo evidence. Probably just a paranoid thought at this point, but these two things were enough to tell me to leave. So we did. The salon seemed to be understaffed, with only two ladies working, I'm used to seeing 3 or 4 groomers at all times, especially on the weekends. Perhaps this was the source of the groomers frustration which lead her to mistreat the tiny dog, but I was not going to take any chances. If you, like me, stick around for the duration of your pets appointments, you could give this place a try. if you usually leave your dog alone for longer appointments, I personably would not risk it. read more

Great service always, and good prices, especially when they also take competitor's coupons! There's always cute cats too to look at (and also for adoption) but sadly I'm not a cat person. They often have good sales and discounts. I mostly come exclusively for my dog food, treats, toys, etc. The cashier always hands out treats! On weekend, they have adoption events! read more
