I dropped off our dog for a trim at 4 pm. I was told it would take about 3-4 hours. I missed their call at 7:40. They texted me at 8:04 that I needed to pick up my dog by 8:30 or pay late pickup fees. I was already warming up the car so I left immediately. I arrived at the store at 8:24. I was told I would be assessed a late fee because were already closing. (The posted closing time is 9 pm) I protested that this was unfair and arbitrary. I couldn't know that they wanted to close early, and I had arrived within a half hour of their first attempt to contact me. I appealed to their manager on duty, a woman named Emily Chaison, and she stated that she didn't care if she lost my business. read more

Took my miniature Burna doodle in for a trim. They tried to convince me that she was matted on her face, but she was not. They also tried to tell me not to brush her with anything but a wire brush, and I've never brushed her. Her hair is not that long , the haircut was uneven. They shaved her to the skin on her face, nicked her multiple times on her body and her face shaved her down to her skin in multiple places on her body she was traumatized I sent a complaint and I never received a callback. Also, after checking out, was told that they overcharged me and charge me the wrong price, but they would charge me the right price next time and never received the refund difference very unprofessional, very rude. I would never take another animal to the groomers ever again I do not recommend these people they are awful. read more

I've been going to the store since it opened. I've been a grooming salon customer for over a year. There is a high turn over in this store you never see the same people for very long. The grooming salon is even worse regarding turn over. All these young inexperienced people that have no customer service skills. Instead of working with a dog or even picking up a dog I've seen dogs dragged to the back. Oh by the way that's how trachea's get collapsed. There has been one groomer that I know has been there consistently for over a year and she is good. The other ones are just a revolving door. But, the young staff just totally ignore people or make you feel invisible and to be honest I'm now stopping going there because of it. So I'm going to find another groomer that hopefully has some stability for my babies. read more

The sign on the door said they would have to close early at 3pm due to lack of staff, however I was turned away at 1:45pm. We have a rescue lab mix and two rescue cat one long haired and psychopath LOL. PetSmart is a one stop pet shop for all! Providing grooming and obedience classes all competitively priced. It's a nice treat for Miss Daphne (the lab) to go into the store and meet all her friends. She thinks people are there to see her and we let her pick out a treat. The staff always says hi to her. They did not do what I requested. First off they have my dogs sizes. He is very large and not once did they seem like this would be an issue however, when they called to tell me he was ready I noticed his nails were not trimmed. I also requested and paid for furminator treatment. I had to use our furminater when we got home and took out so much undercoat that there is no way they even brushed him. Petsmart is a great place to buy pet supplies. They have good prices, a really good selection, and are pet friendly (allowing animals in the store) but without the pet mess. Petsmart is also a great place to go if you are planning on adopting a new pet. They almost always have cats, and you'll have to check for the days when shelters bring their other pets to be adopted. We have one cat (Tumbleweed) we got through petsmart from the Southside animal shelter, and find it hard not to walk out with more cats every time we are there. read more

I've been to this PetSmart a few times since moving to the area. I thought it was great that I had a Petsmart so close to me. I still do, but boy is it unfortunate to have so many disassociated associates working here. Every time I come in I try to be friendly, polite, and respect the idea that some retail workers have bad days (I managed a Verizon store for 5 years). Today really just set me off, however. I am looking for a particular pet product and the need is urgent. Knowing that the past few experiences at this location have been subpar, I took my business first to Walmart. After finding Walmart did not have what I was looking for, I came here. I searched online for the product and found some available at Petsmart in store. I went in and searched for the product in the cat section. I searched and searched but couldn't find it. I decided to ask for some help after about 15 minutes of looking. I paced the store looking for someone to ask. I could see one employee working with a family adopting a small animal. Some employees were in the grooming section, and 3 employees were at the register. 1 working the first line, 2 standing at the second register. There was a line of customers so I left the employee alone. I approached the guy behind the second register and said "I'm looking for a product." From his expression, I could tell from experience he wasn't on-the-clock. "You're not on the clock, are you?" "No man I just got here. Haven't even clocked in yet." I just stood there looking at him. The girl next to him didn't say a word, but stood there looking at me. The employee at the first register turned her head towards me and we made eye contact. And that was that. Not once did they offer to help me, or "give me a minute to get clocked in and I'll help." Not once did anyone say "let me get someone else out here." Nothing. Just 3 Petsmart employees staring at me as I ask for help in your store. I can not wait until automation fully comes to the retail world, and I won't have to deal with incompetent employees anymore. read more

One poor cashier attempting to handle a never ending line of customers while two employees working on fish tanks. When asked by me if they could help up front I as told they have a flooding problem. I would think one person could handle same while the other helped up front. They had plenty of time to cut up an giggle. I guess customer service is 2nd priority. I took my dogs for nail trims. I've taken my dogs for nail trims in the past. I could sense the groomer was fairly new and nervous with dogs. I'm usually asked if I want the pawdicure, I was not asked. My first dog almost got hung, the groomer was not watching and the dog fell off the table, choking. After I called her attention, she saw my dog and helped get the dog back to the table. Next came my "special needs" dog. He's nervous, but by no means is he a viscous dog. Been bounced around from home to home, so he's a bit needy. Groomer was rough with him & he yelped, pulled his paw back, and quit cooperating. She needed help so the other groomer came over, was just as rough and my dog yelped and as he did, his mouth touched her back - instant muzzle. He's now labeled viscous for something he didn't even do. Won't be back there. read more

WARNING FOR PET OWNERS IN INDIANAPOLIS: BOTCHED GROOMING & ABUSE BY PetSmart⁣ ⁣ Bingley had a grooming appointment scheduled at the PetSmart in Indianapolis on Washington Street this morning at 8am. At 11am I received a call anticipating news that he was finished, but to my dismay (& later horror when I showed up at the "grooming salon") they, meaning Haley, Lindsey, & the 3 other groomers STANDING AROUND DOING NOTHING completely botched his grooming. ⁣ ⁣ Now why you ask were they unable to complete this grooming? Bingley is the sweetest dog in the world, and also really anxious & easily scared. I warned them of this prior to the appointment, and Lindsey herself even confirmed they would go slow and be gentle with him. During the appointment, they shaved his body first, and then attempted to bathe & dry him with a blow dryer. The first time, he had diarrhea from stress. Instead of calling me, they tried a second time to blow dry him, with again him having a bout of diarrhea from stress. THEY ATTEMPTED A THIRD TIME, BECAUSE YOU KNOW, IT'S THE CHARM. After he CLEARLY was not taking to their "grooming" methods well, that's when they finally decided to call me. We walked into the salon where all 5 groomers were standing around. They explained the aforementioned, but could not answer the question: WHY DID YOU CONTINUE TO TRY TO FINISH THE GROOMING WHEN HE WAS CLEARLY STRESSED & NOT DOING WELL, & WHY DIDN'T YOU CALL ME THE FIRST TIME HE GOT SICK. You can imagine my face when Bingley slowly walked out. Pieces & tufts of hair mangled on his chest, stomach, & all 4 limbs. ⁣ ⁣ It's heartbreaking & horrifying to imagine what they subjected Bingley to, just so "THEY COULD JUST GET THE JOB DONE." I'm sad to be sharing this story, because it involves the one thing I hold most dear in my life. If you're thinking about where to buy pet supplies or groom your pets, save your time and money. Go elsewhere. Petsmart (or at least this location) is a joke. A couple of months ago, my family bought a cage for our puppy. He was 7 or 8 months by the time we got him and bought this cage so we used it maybe two or three times. We didn't keep the receipt as we were not initially planning on returning it. Today (May 31 2019), we went in to return the cage the cashier asked for a receipt. When we didn't have one, she said that was fine and asked for a phone number it would've been under. We tried both our landline number as well as our cellphone numbers to no avail. That wouldn't normally be too off-putting....except for the fact that less than a month ago, we got our puppy groomed here AND we had already been coming here for YEARS with our other dogs. They couldn't find one single record of us ever doing business there. Their evident lack of record keeping ability isn't their first problem we've had with them either. Our older girl (coming up on 16 years here in June) tends to growl when her feet are touched and because of this, they have neglected to clip her nails on many occasions (and we still had to foot the bill for it) and in our last couple visits, their grooming skills have been mediocre at best. I think them claiming we've never done business with them and pretty much saying 'sorry about your luck' to our unsuccessful return makes it clear... this will be our last time coming here . I'm from Indianapolis but only recently moved back after spending nearly fourteen years in Noblesville... Aside from the visits made when I was younger, I've been in this PetSmart twice recently, with one visit being this past Sunday, September 15, 2019. I have a bearded dragon, so I am a frequent visitor to PetSmart because of needing to get live crickets for my lizard. When I stopped in on Sunday, I was not there to get crickets. I was there to look for any type of "medicine" that might help my cat I adopted last week with his poor eye issues. I was greeted when I entered the store. I looked at the cashier & greeted in return. After walking around the unorganized store, I finally located the small selection of medicine & treatments for various issues, for cats (& dogs, I think). When I was in this PetSmart on Sunday, while I was looking at the medicines & treatments - no luck finding what I needed, by the way - I recognized the female employee working the fish/reptile area from the previous visit I made for crickets. The cashier who greeted me when I entered the store was standing with the female employee in the fish/reptile area. I noticed they were sharing a handling session with a chameleon. Now, I will clearly state that I have filed a formal report with PetSmart's corporate office regarding the situation I am about to explain. I was looking at the medicines, and I noticed the two handling the chameleon. Keep in mind, these employees were not anywhere near the chameleon's enclosure, and I have never known a PetSmart to do much "handling" & in-depth care, unless necessary, outside of pre-opening & after-closing each day, perhaps with periodic check-ins at the tanks during portions of the business hours each day. Another thing that I immediately noticed was that the cashier was handling the chameleon - I am not sure that PetSmart makes sure all employees are trained for handling all types of creatures in the store or not, but, again, I have not known this to be a tradition. Chalk that up for two red flags, almost immediately... I turned my head once more to place an item I was holding back on the shelf, and, in the moment I had my eyes off these employees, I heard, "Oh my god, I can't believe you dropped him!" The employees carelessly handled the chameleon, which led to the employees dropping the chameleon on the floor. I have never owned a chameleon, but I have read extensively about them because I thought I would want to get one someday. Chameleons are generally nervous creatures - Honestly, being in a pet store is probably scary enough for the poor things. Some grow accustomed to their owners and become much more comfortable with exploring/being outside of their enclosures. I seriously doubt that was the case for this poor chameleon, because the chameleon was climbing all over the whole time the employees were handling it. The reptile probably just wanted to go back in its tank. On top of hearing that the chameleon was dropped, ANOTHER employee that I could not see & did not recognize the voice of mentioned that the SAME chameleon had ALREADY BEEN DROPPED BEFORE! At this point, I felt my blood boiling & my heart breaking for the poor chameleon. I stormed a quick lap around the store and found absolutely no employees giving a clear appearance that said they cared about my concern - let alone any employee that remotely appeared to seem in a manager position. I thought PetSmart employees were to wear clearly identifiable outfits. It was hard to tell who was who and who was doing what in there because nearly everyone had something on over a blue shirt. I also was extremely upset because of the incident, so maybe I easily overlooked something. It's hard telling. Either way, I figured my best option was to leave immediately before I got myself in any trouble or on a social media video for the whole world to see. I went to the Michael's a couple stores down and immediately called PetSmart corporate office to file a complaint. I was on hold for a quite a while, and the person who took down the information did not sound remotely enthused... like he was reading a script instead of listening to what I was saying. I hope that, for the sake of that poor chameleon & all other reptiles in that store, PetSmart does something that will validly resolve the issue. You cannot just drop a reptile on the ground & expect it to survive without any potential issues. I guarantee that, even if someone came in to buy that chameleon, the store employees would make absolutely no effort to advise that the chameleon had been dropped at least TWICE. I will not be returning to this store ever again. I'd rather go out of my way to the Noblesville store that I'm used to, as the employees there actually care about the animals & about handling the animals with respect. All the things they said he was going to get never happened and when the employee seen me come back she tried to hurry and brush him . He still smelled and ears was still dirty. they didn't do anything that I could see but waist my time and charge me full price they service sucks ASS!!! I typically don't write reviews and honestly only write them when I have positive experiences. Tonight I could tell the staff was busier than normal and was working hard. I had some difficult questions about a new diet my veterinarian had suggested for my old pup. Lauren, one of the managers, dropped everything she was doing to stop and answer my questions to help me find exactly what I was looking for. Hard to find in big stores like this anymore but don't worry about finding a little personal attention at this Petsmart! read more

I love to take my dog Luke in to walk around and look at the toy selection. He loves it and we love the fact that we can take him in. There are always a bunch of clearance items and inexpensive little treats that you can grab if you aren't looking to spend too much money. Everyone is super friendly and the store is surprisingly clean. The only negative thing I have to say is that SOMETIMES, the grooming department is lacking. I take Luke there regularly and the last couple of times, his ears weren't cleaned when we paid for that to be done, and his nails weren't trimmed as good as usual. I don't know what the deal was, and I'm not the type of person to complain but it seems like I might have to mention it next time we go.
