Almost everything you could want or need for your pet. Just usually not enough cashiers to check people out. Minus 1 star Decent location that is oftentimes busy for which one cashier is not enough. Grooming section always appears busy, so they must be doing a good job in there. Dog obedience classes seem to be full as well, so it seems like this store has most it mostly together. Email coupons and specials are what really get me to go here, but sometimes saving a buck or two doesn't matter if you need litter or food right away. Otherwise there is a huge variety of pet supplies for nearly any domesticated pet. They also have an adoption center and I like to see the kitties once in a while, just to see how cute they are. Convenient location and good prices are the main reasons I shop here. read more

PetSmart's address is listed as Derry st, but it's technically off Derry st. PetSmart Harrisburg, has a great selection of Pet supplies, including pet foods not found at other local stores. Services include pet training classes, grooming, and a veterinary. Customer service has never been an issue. They help me find what I need, even occasionally offer alternative suggestions. My only suggestion to improve customer would be please streamline check out process. Try to Visualize a Visio flowchart or code; At checkout your asked for your rewards info. New rewards members are registered at that time. It often takes minutes. The Cashier asks if you want to contribute to "Name your pet Charity" When paying you're asked again if to donate. You're required to navigate even more menu options before getting a receipt. The whole check out process is a Killjoy. Seriously , it's an utterly soul sucking experience. Willing to bet it's not much better for the poor (often lone) cashier looking out at a line of exasperated, toe tapping customers; eyes glued to their phones huffing & puffing. Very cumbersome, time consuming process. I like PetSmart, but I dread the checkout process. Imagine coming in at lunch, there's a line of 4 people and it takes ten minutes to checkout! I believe this has little to with the cashier, and more an issue with upselling mandated by Corporate. I've encountered painfully slow checkouts at numerous other locations. Today when I brought my dog(a shitzu) for his regular Grooming. They clipped 2 of his nails to short. Although I didn't notice any blood on his paw. After placing him on the seat of the car and drove home. I noticed that there was blood all over the seat. I called the store and spoke to the Grooming manager and explained the problem. She said I could bring h8m back in and they would try to stop the bleeding. I told her that I was applying pressure and that was slowing the bleeding. I asked her what they were going to do to correct the situation. She said "Nothing". I told her I was going to contact corporate about this issue. I'd like to start by saying Bella was great. She was really sweet and patient. However, the black woman working with her didn't start off the best, with me. As soon as she walked over to me, she asked that I hold my dog back as if she was about run at the dog next to us. First of all, she was on a locked non-extended leash, and secondly, she was in no way about to move towards the other dog. So her comment was unnecessary. She turned out to be ok. I dislike dealing with rudeness when I'm spending money at an establishment. Pet Smart please encourage your people to be a little nice and less condescending when interacting with customers. I put in the day I purchased her 4 times and each time it was rejected and would not let me go any further. I was told this was an easy way to register her but nothing about it was easy. I went to Petsmart to buy canned cat food, because the grocery stores have nothing but empty shelves. They had plenty of cat food, but the only kind they had was pate. My cat won't eat pate; she won't even look at it. I spent about twenty minutes going through every shelf, and I couldn't find anything. I ended up buying some of the food that comes in pouches, which I don't know if she'll like it. I spent $50 there, because their food is overpriced. Do not subject your dog to this store or their staff. This is my second poor experience with this location. The first time we went in, there was a dog on the loose and the staff was frantic. This particular experience was far worse. Upon entering we were told that they could not accept our dog due to the fact that she was panting. Moments later a second dog was turned down for the same reason. Keep in mind the groomers were going on and on about how overbooked they were. Additionally they mocked the individuals who they had also refused. They also asked us to get our dog out of the way as they accepted an extremely aggressive dog. The manager kept repeating that he was 100% behind us but neither took control of the situation nor made any attempt to resolve it. Overall professionalism lost out on this one. read more

PetSmart is all right in my book. I usually try to avoid large pet chains but find that there are not that many dog boutiques in Harrisburg. I was pleasantly surprised to find a wide selection of dog foods and products here. My dogs are picky eaters and I was in search of a formula called Royal Canins Yorkshire Terrier brand that I had bought in a boutique in my hometown. PetSmart had it when no one else did; this is normal for the more expensive pet food products (some things you cannot skimp on). Their products are reasonably priced and the staff is friendly. I have been to a few other pet supplies stores in the area and was either disgusted or unimpressed. PetSmart is my oasis in this pet supplies desert. read more

Apparently Petsmart has a rule in the grooming salon that only one person can work on an animal at a time. When my cat became uncooperative they gave her back half shaved. My cat has been groomed at a different Petsmart in the past by one individual, not sure what the issue was this time. read more

Wish I could make it zero stars! Worst experience EVER from a groomer! I have been taking my dog to PetSmart in NJ for 9 years. Had a great groomer who he loved. Always a great job. Then I moved to PA. I found a good groomer that he liked for grinding his nails, so I thought I would get the whole package this time. First, I was told she no longer worked there, and would be getting someone else. OK. I dropped him off. About 20 minutes later, I get a call from the manager telling me he is on his way to an Emergency Vet Hospital across town. He was fine when I left! Said they found a cyst at the base of his tail, and took him for care. He has had that cyst for over 5 years. He actually has over 20 on his body (he is an older dog). If they asked me, I would have told them. I said if they were not comfortable washing him, I would pick him up. I was told it was too late, that he was already on his way to the hospital. Luckily, I was able to contact the hospital and tell them that my dog had basically been kidnapped, and they did NOT have my permission to treat him. When I arrived, a young girl from the store was in the parking lot, with him in her car. He had no harness or tags, as they were in my car with me. Thank goodness nothing happened on the way there! He was not properly secured, in a car with someone he didn't know (nor did I). He could have easily gotten away from her, as he is half her size, and she only had a loose, thin leash that they use in the salon. They took my dog off premises without permission, to a place a 10 minute drive away, and tried to stick me with an unnecessary emergency vet bill. Needless to say, I will NEVER use them again! read more

I took my dog in for what I thought was going to be a haircut but he did not get a cut. He was washed and brushed he has curly hair so now he is just a frizzy mess. He got his nails trimmed but they are not even some are super jaded. He looks horrible. No one called me when he was done like they said they would so who knows how long he was stuck in a cage in a dark room. If you bring your dog here make sure they are listening when you tell them what you want or your dog will just look like a stray leaving the salon. So upset with how this turned out. read more

The store itself is nice. It's large, stocked well, and clean. However, my review is about the grooming salon. I called and booked an appointment for 3p. I received a confirmation email for 230 which days later, received a call from the groomer asking to move to 3p bc 230 was when she took her break. No worries right because 3 was what I'd booked for anyway. I arrived and first thing, it smelled and yes I understand it's a grooming salon but I've been to numerous PetSmart salons and this is the first time there was a noticeable smell upon entering. She asked if I'd stay while she did a quick physical exam on my cat. I did, she was hesitant but the groomer said she'd be fine. We completed the paperwork and she said it's be about 45 mins. I told her not to rush because I had a meeting at 4. I'm used to her appointments taking a couple of hours. I left about 315-320. I received a call at 330 saying she was ready for pickup. I thought it was extremely fast but I remembered she'd said she didn't have other cats. I had to attend the meeting prior to picking her up. I received another call asking when I'd be coming bc they like you to pick them up immediately. I've not had a groomer say this in the past but I do understand. When I arrived to pick her up, I was told she'd been aggressive and the groomer was unable to clip her back nails or brush her coat. She loves petting/brushing. The groomer had her barely 20 mins and that's including the "bath" she received. My cat should have also gotten an inspection of her ears which wasn't even mentioned. When I took her from the carrier, she had loose hair all over her and still wet. The job was poor. The groomer didn't put in the time to properly care for my cat and blamed it on her. They also still charged the full amount. I will not go here again. With the pandemic we had a really difficult time finding cat groomers and we just recently moved here. I was very excited that they had one on staff but after this very poor job, we're in the same boat. Very disappointed. read more

My mother and I went to this PetSmart yesterday to get a hamster and our experience was very good given the fact that the customer service person was friendly and approachable. Now we went again today because my sister wanted a guinea pig and the customer service was terrible. The staff member was rude, disrespectful, and belittling, so we asked for her manager.Her manager was just as bad as her, she didn't listen to our concern.She only listened to what her employee told her and every time I tried to explain the situation she cut me off saying she already knew the story, which was one sided and bias because it came from her employee only. The so called Grooming Manager said they did not finish my dogs nails because she was freaking out but they made no attempt to calm her down because i was standing there watching!!!! NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS WILL I TAKE MY ANIMAL TO BE GROOMED HERE!!! About a year ago we were in Pet Smart shopping for a playground for our cockatiel. While waiting in the check out line, my son and I observed the grooming section which was open windows for customers to observe. WELL... there was a cute little shih tzu getting groomed when all of the sudden I saw the groomer hold the little guy and start ripping the hair out of its ears. Powder in the ears, then rrriiipppp!!! I was horrified! The dog was upset also as he turned to nip at the groomer who in return raised her hand to smack it on the muzzle. I could not believe what I was seeing. I have a big heart for the Shih Tzu breed and I was so upset (as was my 8 year old son). When we were done and ready to leave, the Shih Tzu was so shaken, I thought it would vibrate itself off the grooming table. When we left the parking lot I immediately got on the phone and called the store manager. He put me off saying that the groomers are trained to use the hair pull method and that they use an antiseptic powder to numb the pain for the animals. I told him that it would be a cold day in Hades for me to ever take my beloved pet there to be groomed. He told me that people call all the time about this issue and that it's totally my choice to have my animal groomed there or not. I refuse to go back to Pet Smart for anything! read more

I brought my dog here to be groomed after looking everywhere for a good groomer. I figured it was a chain so they couldn't be that bad, and they have the windows that look into the grooming area so I can make sure they do a good job. So after getting my dog's shot records I took him in at 5:45pm for a 6pm appointment, and they took him in back and put him in a kennel. An hour later (why not just have me bring him in at 7pm?) they took him out and started grooming him. I stood in the window watching, but was careful to stay out of sight so to not to upset my dog (who was already pretty upset from being shoved in a kennel). One of the other groomers came up to the window and shut the blinds on me! Hurt and confused, I retreated back to my car and waited two hours until my dog was finished (at 9pm). When I finally got him back he looked like they took a hacksaw to his coat. It was horribly uneven and choppy. For $45, it was an overall uber disappointing experience. To top it off, the store itself (which I spent part of my two hours waiting browsing in) carries mediocre dog food, has an awful selection of toys and is a tad on the dirty side. I would recommend skipping this place and just heading over to Petco if you have the option. read more

Me and my child went to petsmart to purchase a hermit crab. The hermit crab tank was not taken care of. It was dry as a bone hermit crabs need moisture to breathe. The water bowl had dirt all in it and it had no water in it. Furthermore there is no salt water provided for them or freshwater.Then we went to see the cats. There was only two cats which is a good thing but the litter box was completely full of poop it looked like it wasn't scooped for a couple of days. read more

My experience with Petsmart Grooming at this particular location was unfortunately terrible. Although I have frequented two times previously and have never been truly impressed, I have never had an experience like the one last night where I was left with a bitter taste in my mouth; a taste that will prevent me from having my dog groomed here EVER again in the future. We dropped our puppy off for a typical puppy bath and quick puppy trim. After over an hour of waiting we walked into the grooming department to evaluate the cause of the wait and were shocked at what we discovered. The groomer with an attitude basically informed us our puppy was "impossible" and that she just "didn't know what to do with him. He just won't let me do anything". There were many problems I saw with this encounter. Firstly, her wording was very unprofessional and she even went as far to make it seem as though our puppy was the most terrible puppy to have ever been through the doors by continually explaining how bad our puppy was. Secondly, we were there for over AN HOUR and WERE NEVER told about our puppy not tolerating the session. We could have attempted to calm him down, decide maybe this day wasn't the best day for him and take him back at a future date, or have stayed in the room if that would have helped. Instead, we were LEFT WAITING WITH NO UPDATE. It is important to mention that I am genuinely curious how long it would have been until the groomer decided to let us know of the "problem". We did not discover the situation through her notifying us, but rather by going into the room expecting him to be done. Instead, we discovered an unfinished puppy who had NOTHING DONE TO HIM IN AN HOURS TIME and were then informed. Needless to say the grooming department will never receive our business again and it may be some time until the actual store does in the future. read more

I show up this morning at 8:20 and they can find my appointment and 3 people asked me the same damn questions about bookking online and and 3 times I said no I spoke to a young lady yesterday and I for email confirmation. while I disagree with the one reviewers comments about selection of dog food and toys, my review is on the fish. I have more fish die from here than any other place. I have been keeping fish for over 35 years and know what I am doing. I choose healthy looking specimans, acclimate them properly etc and most die. I stopped buying from them and go to a local aquarium shop now, in which none of my fish died from the aquarium shop. There are not many places to buy fish anymore and most of the aqaurium shops were put out of business from the big chains. Yes petsmart has a fish guarantee but it gets old bringing fish back all the time for a couple bucks here and there but it all adds up. I even had fish dead on arrival when I got home from my 15 minute drive. Sometimes the fish are dead by morning and gone, other fish ate them so I do not even have anything to bring back for refund. I see a lot of dead fish in their tanks so stopped buying from them. If the aquarium center goes out of business I will be stuck with getting fish from this place or the other big chain. The rest of the store is ok, typical chain pet store with a good selection, Prices are a bit cheaper than the other chain store that starts with a P. read more

We took our two dogs to get groomed here, one's haircut was fine, but the other one had razor burns all over his belly and butt and a big cut on the inside of his back leg. Our dog had to wear a cone for 2 weeks after this and get medicine on his wounds. When I called to complain they said this never happened and that maybe my dog hurt himself at home. The management at this store is ridiculous to get ahold of and even though we were told we will receive a gift card for the amount we spent, we have yet to receive it a month later. We drove from Virginia to Pennsylvania to pick up a dog we found on the internet. When we pick got him he was covered in dirt and fleas. We stopped at the first pet supply store we found. Suzan, the store manger, went out of her way to make get us Quicktabs and the right flea stuff for new puppy. She was even able to get him a bath before our long trip home. Absolutely do not go here for grooming services. Had to take my dog to the vet in the days following his shampoo/cut for intense itching. Dogs itch all the time...no big deal right? Turns out his tail was infected from and I quote from the vet "the clippers used during the grooming process" and further went on to say how other animals have come to her clinic with similar presentations. read more

Although I agree that the grooming part my not be wise to take your pet to, guess it depends who you get... but no complaints anywhere else. We are here at least twice a week for dog stuff and guinea pig stuff. Bedding prices for pigs is not bad, dog treats good also. They have just about everything, and it is always very clean. Employees I have talked to are nice and knowledgeable, and always a quick checkout. Of course you get to look at all the animals each trip, which makes that fun for the kids. read more

I took my dog, whom is a mix for a summer shave. I come back two hours later knowing, I would be charged around $30 plus tax from prior experience. Oh no, I come back and my bill is $55. I look at it and ask the boss why is it so much? She replys you wanted the oatmeal package, I even asked her if that would be extra and she earlier said no. I take my dog to Petsmart when in need of shopping for essential pet supplies. But, when I ever get close to the grooming room she will fight me to run outside the entrance. I never knew a sweet and well behaved dog of mine to act like that and even when she had an appointment she would either have to be tugged or carried into the room. So, I will not be taking my dog here ever again. I Adopted a kitten in Petsmart... They give you a card, the chip, and a free bag of food. But the problem was they didn't give any information of where the kitten was fixed and the shots he already had. I went through several people day after day, some said they would get back to me, but never did so I had to keep calling. You always give the person who adopts an animal , of where they were fixed, and what shots were given so far. When I called Petsmart, one of the Managers was very rude saying they didn't have the information. I still never got the information for the kitten I adopted. read more
