This Pet Store in the Villages is a combination of supplies, adoptions, and grooming. It's not as big as a Petsmart or a Pet Supermarket, but it was still pretty expansive with many aisles filled with what you may need. They also had more than just dog and cat supplies as I saw some other items for aquariums and bugs for feeding to animals that eat bugs. The store was very clean, had a restroom, and had both a front and rear entrance which is nice as the main street going through the plaza looks like it may be difficult to find parking at the front. On this visit, we arrived to pick up a new kitten we found online and decided to make the drive from East Orlando to The Villages (about 1:20 each way) to pick him up. With an adoption, you get a free bag of their branded food, although we picked up some additional food and litter. Everyone was super friendly and we didn't feel rushed even though they were approaching closing time. We were able to spend some time in the Adoption area with the kitty to make sure we were compatible. There was no pressure to adopt and she wanted to make sure we were Ok with him. We were, now we'll have to see if the other animals are too. I'm sure a friendly cat fight or two are in the near future. If I lived near hear, I'd make it a regular stop as they have some quality brands of food and litter. It's also golf cart friendly driving around the plaza so be aware if you're driving a vehicle.

I have been going to this location for years, mostly for nail trims, toys and other miscellaneous…read moreproducts so it's been pretty expensive (which is fine). The girls who have done the trimming along with the rest of the staff have always been wonderful and kind. A special thank you to Ms. Kelly who has taken care of my dogs for years!Sadly, I haven't seen her at my location in a while. ***HOWEVER*** I have been going to this location since a nail trim was $15. I always tipped generously. When they raised the price to $20, I still tipped generously. The price was raised again earlier this year to $25. I have more than one dog (and they are small-breed) and I cannot add a tip to that. I don't know if they continued to raise the price because other customers weren't tipping or what. But IF that's the case, I shouldn't have to pay extra because certain customers may have been "cheap" or simply couldn't afford it for whatever personal reasons. Anyways, I don't know the reason for the price increase but it doesn't really matter. It's the principle. So to the employees... I have always been a generous tipper at ANY business. I'm truly sorry that I'm no longer tipping on top of the new $25 per-dog fee. I just ask that you try to show some understanding and compassion when I pay at the counter instead of looking irritated and judgmental. That was my experience the last time I went to your location and I was pretty disappointed but I would never expect that reaction from the rest of the girls. To that one girl: be kind, it's easy. To the rest of the girls: thank you for always being sweet to my dogs (and to me too).

First time here and they honored my first exam free coupon, no problem…read more As we were walking to the exam room, they let me lead Fenney behind the desk rather than negotiate the gauntlet of lil fancy dogs in the waiting room. I really appreciated that. The vet tech and Dr. Corn were professionally friendly and did not say my Fenney was fat.

I am beyond disappointed with my experience at VCA Buffalo Ridge Animal Hospital…read more I called because I had concerns about my pet and needed guidance on getting her seen. This was not a major request. If the answer was simply, "Your pet needs to be seen by the doctor," that would have been completely fine. Instead, I was treated rudely, my call was disconnected without explanation, and I was left feeling dismissed and upset. When I later spoke with the manager, Nicole, I was told that she had listened to the recording and that I had been "out of line." I strongly disagree with that characterization. I was not rude or disrespectful. I was a concerned pet owner trying to get help for my animal. What is most upsetting is that it felt like there was more interest in arguing with me than in focusing on getting care for my pet. The entire situation felt unnecessary and petty. A simple conversation and an appointment could have resolved everything. I left the interaction feeling as though Nicole was trying to punish me over a disagreement rather than help my dog, and unfortunately, the one who suffered from that approach was my pet. Pet owners call veterinarians because they are worried about their animals and need help, not to be made to feel like an inconvenience or to be put in the middle of an argument. Because of how I was treated, I will be taking my pets elsewhere and have requested to end my relationship with this hospital. Beware: If you are looking for compassionate, customer-focused care during a stressful situation with your pet, this was not my experience.
