We were driving from Milwaukee to Texas when our dog began having really bad diarrhea. It started…read moreabout 11 pm Thursday night and continued through the next afternoon with time between bowel movements decreasing from every hour and a half to about every 15 minutes. By Friday around 3:30 pm, he was not able to go anymore but was still acting as though he needed to, trying but nothing would come out. He was also beginning to pant, drool, and cry a lot and even tremble, I'm assuming from dehydration and/or pain. This is when I decided we had to get him into a vet right away. We found the closest one and headed straight there. They seemed uninterested in helping us from the very beginning but became extremely rude once I described his symptoms. They literally kicked us off the property with full hostility, claiming our dog was probably infected with parvo and that they didn't want him on the lawn (he wasn't, his symptoms even with the severe diarrhea didn't resemble parvo. I've had two animals die from parvo and his symptoms, as bad as the diarrhea was, were nowhere even remotely close to how parvo presents or smells--plus he is fully vaccinated, so very unlikely that he would contract it which I told them.) They would not even allow us time to discuss our next plan of action while our dog was secured inside of our vehicle. The vet stared us down aggressively until we were COMPLETELY off the property. The only decent thing they did is suggest that we go to Sullivan vet, which was approximately 20 miles in the opposite direction of where we were headed and closing within the hour. We decided to try our luck there as all other vets in the direction we needed to go were much further. I'm so glad we did. When we pulled up they looked extremely busy, I was so worried they would not be able to see him but they did! They did ask us to wait in the car with him until they were ready just in case, which is totally understandable. But they ended up staying past closing just to take care of us. They did a fecal test which literally took 2 minutes. Confirmed he didn't have parvo, he basically just had a bad stomach bug. They gave him a hydration pack, meds, gentle food, and loaded us up with extra free supplies like puppy pads for the ride in case he had any accidents. They were so incredibly kind and helpful. And really went above and beyond by staying late to care for him on Halloween when I'm sure most of them had family stuff to do.

Abi (manager) chimed into Ruth & my conversation, so to include her, I began asking her questions after finding out she was the manager. She appeared annoyed by me, all along typing on her laptop not giving me any eye contact or showing any interest answering my questions about my two fur-babies attending day camp. Today was the first day both my dogs attended 1/2 day of the day camp. I was told they allow the dogs out in certain groups 15 mins at a time, to not over stimulate them. So on a 1/2 day, they get two 15 mins out to socialize/play. Because both my girls appeared not interested in the other dogs the first 15 minutes out, that on the second 15 minutes out, they just let them out with each other. I'm so confused. How are dogs going to socialize, if you don't continue introducing them to others during playtime. A full day, they are allowed a total of one hour of socialization/playtime. And they are put up in a "cabin" for the remaining of the stay. Doesn't seem much for a day camp.
