I took my 3-year-old poodle to Petsense for a full grooming service, and it was a terrible experience. The groomer claimed she couldn't finish the haircut because my dog moved too much. My dog is regularly groomed, and I've never had this issue with any other groomer. He was dropped off at 9 AM, and I received a call at 4 PM that he was ready--seven hours later! When I picked him up, his haircut was incomplete and uneven, yet I was still charged $110. This level of service is unacceptable. Petsense needs to provide better training or hire more experienced groomers. This is how my dog looked after leaving, totally unacceptable. read more

I relocated from San Antonio Texas with two dogs, a cat and a snake, so when I saw this was one of the only pet stores I was happy to check it out. Here's the thing. Price wise? They're all kinds of screwed up. I'll be ordering and paying outrageous shipping costs before I waste my money here. Some of the leashes I saw were $58 for the leash alone. That same brand is at most $28 at a PetSmart or Petco. The hill science diet was $68 for a small bag. At PetSmart or Petco the large 50ib bag is $68. On top of that their enclosures for their animals are far too small and they're charging $258 for an adult ball python with a basic morph, my juvenile hypo clown morph was only $160!!! They have no clue what they're doing price wise and they clearly have no clue how to properly care for the animals they are selling. On top of that I'm a dog groomer and I needed flea and tick shampoo, apparently they don't even carry it. read more

Love this little store in Alamogordo! Taylor the trainer is amazing, very professional, and helpful. She is very knowledgeable and good at explaining things. I am grateful this store has her and offers the training classes. We were driving to Pet Smart for classes but decided to give Taylor a try and we are thankful we did. She has helped my dog so much, his manners have improved immensely. I wish they had a bigger area for training as space is pretty limited. That is one thing I liked about Pet Smart- they offer a safe space for dogs and their owners can sit, learn, and demonstrate what they're learning without having to stop every five minutes when customers come in. I also like how Pet Smart has a demonstration dog that shows the students what's expected and gives them an opportunity to be around a trained dog. All the employees there are kind, helpful, and make going in there a good experience for everyone! Very thankful. read more

I made my dogs grooming appointment online. I didn't hear anything about it until the next day which was the day of the appointment. I got 2 text messages the next morning. One acknowledging the appointment and then the second one was canceling the appointment. when I tried calling the store the man that answered transferred me to the grooming dept. because I told him that I went back on line to reschedule and the exact day and time was showing still available. A lady answered the phone with a can you hold a second but never came back to the phone. After 10 minutes I hung up. I went back online and saw then no appointments for 2 days. I will not try again! I will make my appointment with a groomer that I can talk to and not have to schedule online! read more

Supervisor of PetSense in Alamogordo NM was rude and unwelcoming. I have shopped at this store in the past but never in the future. I was a part of an obedience class for my dog along with approximately 15 other participants. We were on the last weekend of our training. Dogs were on leash, and supervised. We entered the store as a part of socialization training with our instructors. The supervisor told us to leave and he did not want our business. Our instructor owns a pet day care and boarding facility but she sells no merchandise. He told her it was a conflict of interest. I will tell my pet owner friends what occurred and encourage them not to use this store as well. Sad and disrespectful! My money will go elsewhere!! read more

Buyer beware. The ad in the paper made it look like I would get either a 10.00 or a 20.00 off if I purchased a certain kind of dog food for 35lbs or higher. When I walked into the store I asked the clerk if this was correct, she said yes. So I get two 35lb bags of dog food and go to the check out. As I am checking out I asked again about the 20.00 gift card and again she confirmed I could use it on my next purchase. Well she scanned my purchase which totals 146.00. I knew that wasn't right; the most should have been around 100.00. So I asked why was the total so much and she pointed out that I had 2 - 20.00 gift cards promotional. As it turns out the gift cards apparently are not free. What they do is add the 20.00 to your total and then give you a gift card. for 20.00 So really there was no promo or sale and you pay for the gift card amount. I guess they normally charge for a gift card so you are actually purchasing a gift card. Deceiving ad and the clerks have been trained well to fool you. read more
