One of the worst shops for buying animals and so called knowledge. There's been two occasions I've had to butt in a correct staff from sharing false information to a naive customer. One staff member though it was ok to sell 3 gold fish and a 5 gallon fish tank, goldfish grow big and a tank that size is plain cruelty and abuse for one, let alone 3! The staff member scowled at me because I interrupted her sale. Reported her to her manager and nothing was done as they are still pushing too small of tanks with goldfish onto customers. Another occasion when they started selling reptiles, yet didn't sell thermostats! I asked why to get "they don't need them" excuse me?! Any serious keeper would 100% tell you otherwise. Heat mats can and will severely overheat and cook your reptile and kill it. After a while they stopped selling reptiles (wonder why that is?!) They are ok for food and supplies, but when it comes to animals then stay well alone as it's not just the bad advice, it's also quality of the animals as they buy animals in large bulk which increases the chance of unwell individuals. I had a crested gecko from them once and died within 24 hours even though ones I have from good quality breeders are thriving wonderfully! read more

The shop has everything you would need for your pets. They have a very good range of things from food to toys and a selection of pets for sale such as fish and rabbits. The staff are always friendly and helpful and will show you where things are if need them to. When we were thinking of buying a rabbit the staff gave us lots of information such as everything we would need to care for it and some advice on how to look after it which is good as they aren't just selling them to anyone. read more

Pets at Home at Parkgate is fantastic, its light and spacious, it sells everything you can think of for your pets from dogs to chinchillas. The animals that are there are kept to a high standard, and the staff really know about each animal even unusual ones. They can even give you bits of advice about rescues that pets at home have in the area and also a notice board with animal rescues on. They like to make sure you know as much as possible before buying a new pet or considering one. The store is really big and clean and always helpful staff around to help. read more

Quality shop this place. Its at park gate in rotherham. really big and sells just about everything you need for your pets. Whether it be food or just random toys. They also have different pets available like your fish, rabbits, reptiles etc. Staff are helpful and seem up on there knowledge of what they are selling, again whether it be food or animals. If they don't know im sure they will find out. They also don;t just let any randomer go in and buy an animal, tjhey make sure you know your stuff before selling them to anyone. read more

Absolutely discussted at the way we were treated today. Went in the store today to buy a tropical ram. We have been fish keeping for years and have hardly ever had a problem. We now have 7 tanks set up with our biggest being 4ft. We have all community fish in there but they would not sell us this ram even though we had another ram in there of the oposit sex as they said.it would get killed. In our tank we have dwarf gourami and a ram so no way would this fish be harmed. I walked out of the shop and put everything else I was going to buy down and will not be returning to the shop again. I have heard a lot of bad complaints about the animals there and how there are treated. Finally, I would just like to say that the tanks there are ridiculously small for the amount of fish in them and I could have given them a brilliant full time home where they would have been happy. I do not recommend this store at all. read more
