Review mixed. Lots of available showers but for the price of $18 I would think there could be better quality of cleanliness. There is great parking for oversized loads and not as busy as most at 6:00ish to find a spot. iHOP is the anchor restaurant if you want more than fast food. Close by is another restaurant just a short jaunt across the lot. Overall we would come again but I think that a big cleaning overhaul is needed in the restroom areas. They are very small also. Ya ya ok ok... we found a BT spot last nite in the back 40! Slept pretty level too after moving around a piece. Sleeping against gravity just doesn't cut it anymore ya know. Came in to do laundry while eating. Card machine NOT working so had to get quarters. Then I looked at $3 for wash & dry!!!!?!!!! U crazy here. So we left laundry bag and came inTo eat. Will find a laundry mat down the road somewhere else for sure. Crazy... Left a review in Resturant. But it's all one here so here it goes. Ordered steel cut oatmeal and I got some mushy oatmeal. I told the waitress that this is not steel cut. Her answer" well that's all we got"! Really??? I ask a different waitress that got our drinks she said she would go look. Voila ...... it's regular oatmeal. Cook said someone ordered the wrong thing. Duh... so I did get a small 20% disc. They said no one has ever noticed before... whatever. And I just ate it and sucked it up. Plus I asked for a poached egg for my other piece of toast. They did not charge me for that. Woo hoo... lol. Bf got Buffett. So now we got full bellies. 5 stars. Truck drivers are pigs. I am one. I am not a pig. But I am eternally disgusted by my 'colleagues' gross, disgusting behavior. More women need to drive semis, then places wouldn't be so gross. And we could park in more places! ANYWAY! wow. So I came walking back from my epic breakfast at Neimbergs Steak House, (or whatever its called, in Effingham. Great food, at great prices, see my other review on Yelp.) and caught a Petro employee "being good". Picking up trash that lazy slob truck drivers casually tossed out their windows. Grr. Felt so bad for him, he's probably DEFINITELY underpaid. Felt so great about staying at Petro, dang, this place is CLEAN! And here's why. This dude. This employee, who gets paid minimum wage, to clean up after freaking adults. Truck drivers, do better. It matters Petro employees, thank you for your literal service, and I apologize on behalf of my gross, lazy, inconsiderate ilk. Wow we are gross, and more women need to drive semis and eradicate this issue. Semis are automatic, not stick shift. Jes' sayin'. Get a job at a great company,, like mine, and you can have the shop do it all for you, including change your wiper blades, cuz you'd be a professional driver, not a gross pig grease monkey or whatever. Worst restaurant experience of my life. I was sexually harassed by a fellow customer and the manager blamed me. After asking the customer to move from a table that was clearly marked for social distance he became belligerent and used abusive language of a graphic sexual nature. The manager, Scott, came out and asked him to leave after WE got up to leave. I decided it was time to stand up to the sexual predator and walked back to take his picture. He stood up and proceeded to make thrusting motions while grabbing his genitals asking if I had returned to "suck his -----". The manager ushered us out asking if we wanted our food. I had lost my appetite by then and was shaking. We returned after I had calmed down to ask the manager for a statement about what he had witnessed and to pay for the coffee we had consumed. He responded that the language the customer had used was offensive but that I had exacerbated the problem by returning to take a picture of the man. So...if a victim manages to take a picture of her assailant and he becomes more violent then she had it coming? Got it. Oh, also the manager told me that if I were so worried about Covid I should not be eating in a restaurant. Thanks, Scott. This is a truck stop/gas station/restaurant complex. I have visited a few times before when traveling in a big-rig. I always find the facilities to be well-maintained, clean and organized. As in all the Petro's I visit, their restaurant has never failed me. The diesel fuel island is well-laid-out. Transient parking can get to be a little crowded at night, but that's the downside of being located where crossroads meet. Still, they advertise 242 parking spaces for big-rigs. Scales, a truckers lounge and theater, 19 showers available, this is the largest and nicest truck stop in the area. Diesel fuel prices are competitive, and on this trip, I found gasoline prices to be so, as well. If you're passing thru, take exit 159 and pay this Petro a visit!! read more

The food is ok, but could be a lot better if they took more time in preparing it. Waitresses are really nice and the general appearance is clean so that's another good thing. I think if they want to higher return on their restaurant they should take the time to prepare the food better and have more options as far as food goes read more

Well, I've eaten here twice in the last week. The first time was the breakfast buffet and it was hard to get the attention of the waitresses to refill my water. All three of them we're busy chatting with a customer ten feet away. Finally some waitress came out from the kitchen and saw my glass raised and asked me if I needed more water and the other three finally turned around and saw me. The second time was today I had the lunch buffet it was $17.21. I don't eat much, usually only one or two trips I can't believe that Petro thinks their food is worth almost $20. I know the cost of food has gone up dramatically lately but truck stops in general have always been in the business of gouging travelers. That's almost as much as a casino buffet where they have REAL food. It used to be the best one out there but this will be the last time I ever spend money at the Iron Skillet. read more
