There billing is insane, deliveries when you dont request them, overcharging more then "double" the areas market rate, yes they charged me $5.069 a gallon in a $2.29 market !! Cancelled service, i was told there was a $99.95 fee to remove the tank amd regulator, i disconnected it myself and put them in my driveway and called to have them removed, they said "we dont know when we can come" i replied" well your equipment is sitting put there so i would come in the next few days", a month later they came out, by then someone helped themselves to the regulator, i provided a police report, petro sent me a bill for $400.00 !! They upped the removal charge to $155.00 and the balance was fpr the missing regulator. I called the head office who said "No, you paid $99.95 and im fact, you have a $18.25 credit" so i'm finally paid in fill amd done done done with Petro and warning all to STAY AWAY FROM PETRO for propane, get you own tank off of facebook marketplace like i did for a few hundred and have a local family owned buisiness test it and fill it for HALF of what petro would charge you. The whole experience with petro was a problem. Petro charge their customers more than any other fuel provider, for both propane and oil. Petro has gotten there delivery houses mixed up. they have delivered fuel even when being promoted not to both verbally and in writing and make no attempts to acknolo or correct the mistake. they change their rental agreement on customer after they are already using one of Petros tanks so that they end up being charged for a delivery fee of a unit aswell as a pick up fee of a unit. but entirely was told it was only going to be a one time fee when it was delivered to you. Petro is a very descriptive company and the only reason they have customers is because they allow there customers to pay their bills off monthly instead of all at once.... If their customers knew petro was taking advantage of them in all of these ways they would have never started business with them. read more

I called last year to switch to gas. They were not happy to lose a customer. Rep said it wasn't a smart move, i told her is is almost half the cost. Back and forth we went, finally she agreed to transfer me to the right department. The department terminate department went into the same crap about how dangerous gas is. OIL IS DIRTY!!!!! They placed me with a collection agency and my credit dropped 40 points. Now i am on hold..... Stay away from them!! Oh and BTY, their oil prices are ridiculous! read more

The highest prices of oil around, you also have to be careful of other fees they will sign you up for like tank insurance, which is fine if you want it but shouldn't be charged it and then have to cancel it because you notice it on your bill. I asked to be refunded it, so we'll see if that happens. Technicians are good but you have to check each time to see what the hot water temperature is at because they will set it high. Also the service contracts are expensive and if you don't pick the one you want they will just give you the most expensive one, and telling them verbally on the phone doesn't always work. I have used Petro Home Services for the past 13 years for my oil in my home. I also had their Gold Plan which covered any emergency services in our home. They are the most excellent company in every way. Their serviceman are very efficient and knowledgeable. They are also extremely nice. When you call this company they respond immediately and always solve your problem with ease. I highly recommend them. Needed a new Furnace for the home heating system. We'd worked with Petro a few decades ago on the last installation. From the first contact with our sales rep Bruce to the day of installation, every single person we met or spoke to was helpful, professional, positive and clear in answering all questions. Bruce spent time measuring the house and sitting with me after as he calculated the proper units to chose from. He answered all of my questions and I signed off on the project feeling as though I was in great hands. The installation day was this past Monday, November 15th, 2021. Every single person on the crew who showed up was terrific. Clearly they are a well-oiled machine, it was like watching a NASCAR pit crew at work. In a tight space like a heater / furnace closet, you have to have every task dialed in. These guys did. They finished right when they said they would and left behind a superbly handled installation. The Crew boss clearly had these men by his side every day- each person executed their tasks perfectly. The removal of the old vent piping and masonry went SO cleanl- amazing. The new pipe is snug and sealed totally with new masonry sealer. Without exception, everyone I have worked with from Petro has been excellent. I'd recommend them for ALL manner of work in the home. Wednesday night I noticed my sump pump was running non-stop. The sump well looked like a swirling water funnel and the pump ran continuously. I called Petro and within a few minutes my call was returned to schedule a plumbing call. A few minutes later the Petro plumber called me back with some steps to help remedy the situation prior to my plumbing appointment the next day. First thing Thursday am(okay, 7:45am) Mark the Petro plumber was at my home and by 9am he was rolling out of my driveway and my sump pump was fixed. Mark even provided some helpful advice about a new battery backup (marine not auto) that I should consider. Great job Petro and thank you Mark! read more

Price of barrel goes down and my bill goes up. 11 03 21 I was at 3.349 and on 04 19 22, less than a half of a year it is at 4.97. Over a dollar sixty a gallon!! This company is not out to help people. I had over 100 gallons left in my tank on April 19th 2022 which would have lasted until September when the price goes down but instead they auto filled the tank at its highest price. I am extremely in awe that a company who has been doing this for a while would fill my tank at its highest price knowing that it would have lasted all summer. I am very disappointed in my decision to go with this company and I will be doing everything I can to inform others. read more

I had a horrible and expensive experience with Petro. My thermostat didn't work. I called them, and they charged me $800 for a new circulator to the furnace itself. The next day, it stopped working again. They offered to come out again to see about it. Their diagnosis was that it was "an old circulator" and would cost $800 to fix. Apparently the two technicians didn't have their stories straight. It was a record cold spell and I needed heat. I chose to go with another plumber who was legit and honest. He said that they had installed the hardware without bleeding the system of air. Rookie mistake if you have any knowledge of a water heater. He fixed it and charged a fraction of what Petro wanted to re-charge me for fixing their mistake. I was disappointed to have to pay to get Petro's error fixed. In Petro's defence, the escalation manager offered to send out a technician, again, but it was going to be a week and it was way below zero. That wasn't going to work. I didn't have evidence to dispute their original proposed solution, so all I can say is avoid and cut your losses. What's more--since they are primarily a fuel services business, they run a call center like a normal utility. I spent hours on hold trying to reach someone. It was like calling the cable company. read more

I heard a weird noise coming from the boiler and so I sent an email - I got a response 15min later letting me know a tech will be there the next day. I didn't expect to get a tech here the next day to look at my problem. I was astonished that on a Sunday night I send an email just requesting a tech visit because of a noise and there tech was there on Monday. What a company. I have to be honest I was a little worried when I saw him. Reason is because he was young and I assumed he was not familiarized with the boiler. After all they were installed before he was born. Usually older techs are sent out to my property. Well he did a great job, he was able to troubleshoot the problem, got his manager on the phone and requested the part and I was up and running again. He was a true Professional and Gentlemen. Again what a COMPANY!! PETRO please do not change. Quality People, Service and true Professionals are hard to find. read more

My parents have automatic oil delivery from Petro Southampton. During this cold snap Petro did not deliver the oil and now Sunday morning at 8am their tank is bone dry. I called all numbers that are on the website and they are all disconnected. I called Petros local Southampton office and the phone is off the hook. I have been on hold with Petros main number and have been on hold for 20 min and the recording keeps bragging about customer service and 24/7 emergency service. This company is not 24/7 and does not have customer service. I will be switching my parents over to a more reputable company with better customer service. I use Gastech located Ivyland for my propane and their customer service is top notch!!! read more

We have been customers for more than ten years. We continue because of the unrivaled service, competant and personalized, that we have received over the years. We have always had service contracts for heat and air, and have never regretted the cost. Most recently, for example one of us was due to be admitted to hospital at noon on a Monday. Waking up to a nonfunctioning furnace, I called Petro. They were able to have some one on the scene within a couple of hours, and despite a major repair, we returned home to a warm house. Got a new house and inherit the name of the heating oil provider from a sticker on the burner. Talked to them on the phone (twice). Got really bad experience (twice). The so-called "customer service" (last time it was Jason who drove me nuts) instead of giving prices for their variable plan, tried to nail you into a fixed price plan and extract information 'how low is the level in your tank'. At the end of the conversation Jason said that we are not going to live in the new house. Interesting assumption. Will find other place to order my 500gallons. And please do not reply 'contact our customer's service' on the phone xxxxx. Tried it twice. Gave all personal info (three times).
