The first spot I pulled up to, credit card wasn't working. The second spot I pulled up to, the gas was trickling so slowly that I could hear it--1 gallon must have taken a full minute or more. So, the third spot I pulled up to worked. Thank goodness. But this whole time, I'm scared that someone could easily see me alone and take advantage of me. I think I will fill up somewhere else if I ever find myself back in that area.

The Rockport Lighthouse Country Store & RV Park

Awesome news until you have to get any form of work done. It was rumoured that the Lighthouse had WiFi and I had no choice in the matter. Found between the bridge to the US and Mallorytown Landing, the Lighthouse has long been a place that campers and locals would come to for necessities and the elements of civilization. The WiFi isn't the only indication that they've stepped up their game. Firstly, there's a gas station if your car or boat happen to have been caught out. You're also able to camp there. They are a registered campground and you're more than welcome to stay over. They have all the tuck shop faves such as cold drinks, snacks, maps, newspapers, and probably the tastiest coffee in Mallorytown (which admittedly may be the equivalent of being the best hockey team in Dubai, but it is good stuff and it isn't Tim Horton's). You're also able to grab a sandwich that's made daily (or made to order if you ask nicely) and homemade soup that is also made daily. Not hungry? They also offer a movie rental service that is as current as most independently owned movie stores. Oh, and if you're thirsty, they're also a fully licensed LCBO that has for its size a great selection of beer, wine, and sprits. After I was done stealing their WiFi, I was able to buy tins of Sapporo, Grolsch, Gösser, and a bottle of Casillero Del Diablo's 2007 Shiraz. Not bad at all for a campground.

I filled up my car's gas tank before I headed back home. There are plenty of pumps. The station is clean. I didn't have a chance to go into the convenience store. Too bad the staff looks grumpy.
Canadian Tire Gas+ - Gananoque
To prove how lame I am when it comes to marketing devices. When I'm stopping back in Gananoque on…read moremy way through, this is typically the place that I stop in to refuel. Why? Well, the gas prices there are consistent with your other Gananoque options, so you're not getting pooched there. It's the Canadian Tire money. Which is sad, because I tend to collect and stash away all of my Canadian Tire cash with grand aspirations of turning it all in for a free Winnebago or something, and just end up losing it in the car, the couch cushions, the usual spots. Nonetheless, I still head to the gas bar at Canadian Tire when I go through. It's self-serve. There's no pay-pumps so you have to go to the wee kiosk to pay for your fuel. The snack selection is slight, but is still decent enough to get you on your way. It's a tiny do-it-yourself place and because of the Canadian Tire money I keep coming back. Maybe with enough trips back home I'll be able to afford a pup tent.

What started out as a $10 or $15 purchase ended up being more than double that - because of a sales person standing outside the door. She was friendly, and approached people pumping gas, to promote her wares: cans of compressed car cleaners, and she proceeded to spray the windows and headlights. It did such a good job that we picked up half a dozen cans. Hey, you never know when you'll need your vehicle to look sharp; you might be out in the middle of nowhere, and you never know who you'll run into :-)
