Seneca has a strong hold on the area just outside the tourist district. Not a bad thing, just noticeable. The lot for the gas station was big and prices seemed to be on par for the area. This also houses a Dunkin' in side for your coffee fix or if you wanted to grab a few donuts. I came in with the first thing on my mind, facilities. They are single person use only and I had to wait a bit. The door finally came open and the guy before me came out. Odd, no noise when he was in here...because he did not flush. Wasn't here to visit another person's kids. Aside from that, the facilities were clean. When I was finished with that I came out and started to browse the coolers. I wasn't seeing anything in the main coolers that was going to quench my thirst. Then I noticed the multiple mini coolers throughout the store. I saw one that had nothing but water in it and grabbed one. Pricing here is what is great. A buck for a big bottle of water would keep me coming back. Tobacco needs may not be met here as they only have their brand.

Essentially the three stations (Petro-Canada , Esso, and Shell) on Ontario Street have the cheapest gas in St. Catharines and the surrounding area. One nice plus for this place is that their window washing liquid has soap in it (most gas stations just use water which is dirty most of the time).

But if you're in the area and need gas, you can be pretty certain you won't save anything by driving around so if it's not crowded it's a solid choice.

Profanity-laced racist verbal attack…read more Worst customer service I have ever experienced! Was there recently to buy gas. The gas station employee, Hansi, was very rude. When I pointed out to him how rude he was, the employee, who was south asian, responded with a vile profanity-laced racist verbal attack on me, 3rd generation Afro-Canadian. He repeated the profanities and racist verbal attack several times and also threw the receipt on the counter claiming he didn't give a "profanity" who I complained to. I escalated the incident to Canadian Tire Gas+ corporate office and eventually spoke with the District Manager, Canadian Tire Petroleum. The district manager, though empathetic, explained that the person is employed by the "franchisee", not by Canadian Tire. Therefore Canadian Tire cannot take disciplinary action. Shameful behaviour from the Canadian Tire Gas+ employee Hansi. This is not how customers are treated in Canada.

Regarding the car wash, I think there has been some staffing changes, but I found the guy that was…read moreworking there until about a 2 months ago was amazing. He spent the time to make sure my car was spotless whether it was mud, bird droppings or ice. He also let me know that I get my money's worth by doing a quick buff of the excess wax; you can really tell who the regulars are by seeing who pulls to the side when they get out of the wash to do so. That 1 minute of work makes a huge difference on a sunny day if you are getting a deluxe or the works. The current attendants are still good, but this guy was particularly great. Another yelper is complaining about tipping. They're surprised that people get better service if they tip? Shocker!! They may need a reality check. I've NEVER been asked to tip here. I tip because the guy EARNS it. If I see that even tipping a $1 or 2 gets me exceptional service I'm happy to do so. A lot of the work is done by the machine, so you are NOT going to get a "bad" wash because you don't tip. But if you do tip, (depending on the attendant) you can get a noticeably better wash, above and beyond what you paid for (like literally anywhere else in the service industry). If you don't like that, go to an automated wash. But this is one of the only washes in the area were you can ask an *actual human* to detail a particular part (rims, bug spots, etc), which is why it's my wash of choice. It is true that you may have to wait during busy times, especially when the weather is really good, holidays or when cars get particularly dirty (mud, ice). But you can see the line up literally from the street, so if looks busy and you don't want to wait, come back another time. They're good with honoring your ticket for another day, or even months down the line. It's that simple. The gas station itself is ok, although gas prices are usually one of the most expensive in the city. But since it's only 1 of 2 Shells in the city, if you want to take advantage of airmiles you have little choice. A car wash pack alone is enough to get you miles. Their gift card selection can be limited which hurts when there's a airmiles promo for them. Other than that, they have lottery, lots of smoking/vaping stuff and a decent food/automotive section.
