The brothers are sweet and greet you when you walk in. They take turns showing you around. It's absolutely lovely and has petrified wood, local artists, a Native American collection, and other assorted rocks and art. It's a great stop off I-80 if you're going across it. Stop for half an hour to stretch your legs, teach your children, and look at a collection they've been amassing since the mid-1950s. These Korean Veterans are doing good for the local community by keeping this open to the public. Now they only need to make some petrified wood drink coasters! read more

Occupies a store front on Front Street, an "old-cowboy" feeling area in downtown Ogallala. It's a great quick stop if you like to look at rocks and petrified wood. It's FREE, donations accepted, and the people the greet you usually ask you to put a pin in their map for your hometown. The thing I love about this gallery isn't really the gallery, though-- it's the gift shop. A bit on the pricey side, you can get anything from candle holders to goblets to vases. Again, expensive, but everything is just so darned cool. I am a local and take all of my guests here if we have some free time, and no one ever leaves without buying something. I myself did a lot of Christmas shopping here. read more

If you even get near Ogallala, NE, you absolutely must stop to see Howard and Harvey Kenfield @ their Petrified Wood and Art Gallery. The twin bros were in the Korean War, so thank them for their service first, then be prepared to take in all they have to offer. If they happen to be busy with other visitors, watch them on the telly, look for the "steps" they have posted to tell you how they do their work, and don't leave before you talk to them in person. This gallery is an extraordinary treat of natural treasures (the petrified wood and art) and national treasures (the twins). Allow enough visiting time to do it justice. read more

If you are passing through or in town to visit the lake go visit this sweet little place. The brothers are very nice and so proud (as they should be) of this establishment and what they have created. A lot of interesting things to see and a nice piece of preserved history. Donations are highly appreciated and I would recommend as this is a non-profit that runs with the help of volunteers and donations. read more

I took my very first trip to Nebraska over the holidays and one of my stops included visiting the Petrified Wood Gallery in Ogallala, NE. For me this was an incredible visit. I had never seen so many different types of Petrified Wood from all over the world. I got to meet and tour with Harvey and Howard Kenfield, and it only enhanced the experience. They have so much knowledge and talent when it comes to the work shown in the gallery. Featured in the gallery were some carefully crafted designs by the twins themselves as well as collections from local artists and petrified wood from all over the world. I HIGHLY recommend making this a MUST SEE when staying in Ogallala or even just passing through Nebraska on Route 80. read more
