Had a great meal here! Best dinner we've had in Portugal since arriving 5 days ago. Atmosphere & service were awesome too!

We had a great experience at this restaurant. We were exploring Obidos and got hungry - most places had closed between lunch and dinner but fortunately we stumbled across this gem. I'm not sure why some others described this as touristy. We found it be be very charming and full of character. Obidos is a charming walled city, but unfortunately during the day it's so over-run by tourists. The only main street was so touristy, and the menu listing beef straganoff, pasta and the like didn't give us much confidence. However, unable to dig any hidden gem and not wanting to drive around at night in a somewhat rural area, we decided to go in. The two-storey interior is totally charming in an old, rustic way that makes for a romantic setting. The food turned out to be quite delicious, and if you prefer Portuguese food, quite authentic. Naturally, you can go for the more familiar dishes listed there for tourists, they look well prepared too, spying at other tables, but if you want to go adventurous and try some codfish and the like, this is not a bad place to try. Walking out of the restaurant, we found the city emptied of tourists, and were able to take some good pictures and discover the charm this village held for the Portuguese Queen centuries ago. BTW if you are staying the night in the area, highly recommend Casa de Campo Sao Rafael, which turns out to be by the same owner. (Nope, didn't get a penny off this referral...) read more

Amazing lunch with 2 girlfriend while visiting Obidos. Our server was nice, polite and fast. We started with bread and a plate with cheeses, butter and bread. After it we had Bacalhau with Gamba and Bacalhau with nata. We also had a chocolate cup with ginja ( a local liqueur, port, red and white wine. We also had the chocolate brigadeiro cake. Great Portuguese food with an old tavern feel. One of the few restaurants opened late. It was a 30 minute wait but there were few options so we waited. We were served with bread and great local cheese as we sat down. I had the cod in potatoes and my wife had the pepper steak. Both were excellent. This is hearty food and hit the spot. read more

Food composition below average maybe this is Óbidos specific cuisine not sure, we did not like either one of our dishes.. we had cod which was weird : mix rice egg and chunks of fried cod, and also beef stroganoff which was also with rice.. something you might throw together at home for a quick dinner, not worth 15 euro a plate.. more like half of that.. service and staff are top notch but not the food read more

I would absolutely recommend this restaurant. Service has been great! Food came out pretty fast and the presentation was lovely. It is a cute little restaurant with two stories. We sat at the top which was overlooking the entrance to the restaurant. There is a relatively large selection of food and it is vegetarian friendly. I got the mixed salad and the vegetarian fettuccine. The pasta was delicious- the best I have ever had!! Price is reasonable. I normally wouldn't come to the same restaurant twice, but I'd make an exception for this one. read more

Very charming restaurant with great atmosphere. We ordered the beef stroganoff, octopus with praprika sauce, smoked salmon fettuccine and cod with prawns. They we're all delicious, cooked perfectly and came out piping hot. read more

Excellent restaurant in Obidos! Probably the only one on the main road. Stay away from the tourist traps that the hotels will send you to and go here instead. You'll need to make a reservation or wait, but it's totally worth it! We had Cod fish with prawns and veal medallions with mushrooms. Excellent! read more

Really good atmosphere and location. Price reasonable even if a little bit more expensive in comparison to other cities in portugal. I had the sauted seafood: really delicious. Also the vinho verde was good (even if light). If the service have been better (slow, no ice bucket for white wine, bill to be paid at the desk) I would have given 5 points. Nevertheless for sure a restaurant to be reccomended. read more

We ate here as we arrived quite late into Obidos on our first night and it was one of the only restaurants open... It's a bit of a touristy restaurant (not our first choice usually!!!) and the food/overall experience was pretty average in our opinion... However, the staff were very helpful and tried very hard to make it a good experience... read more

Great spot. Loved the ambiance. Service was very good and they make a good whiskey sour, who knew. Order the veal scallops with mushrooms, very good. Other winners were the pasta carbonara and fettuccine. Definitely recommend this spot. read more

Very nice atmosphere good variety of dishes. The apricot stuffed chicken with orange sauce was great! Fairly priced for being in a very touristy area. read more
