I'm a veteran and am needing to get a service dog. We walked in the other day and they just so happened to have a corgis (one of the dog breeds I've wanted). Come to find out that they wanted to charge me $3800 for a puppy. That's almost my entire VA disability check! What the hell are these people thinking? And upcharging us just for me to take the puppy to get a medical check and vax and spay??? Then they offered financing for the puppy... WHAT? That's disgusting. Financing your pet??? It just felt gross and wrong, like a car salesman trying to sell me a vehicle! What's wrong with these people?? And shame on anyone supporting this sort of business. Dogs should not be designer pets, they shouldn't cost a WHOLE paycheck to buy! read more

Absolutely horrible customer service. The dogs have fleas and they refuse to treat the animals after purchase. I highly recommend going to any other pet store. read more

I used to have more respect for this place, and have even been a customer, but I will no longer be coming here. The manager and a worker were incredibly rude to us for looking at the birds without coming in the store claiming that by looking at them and talking to them nicely that it's "torturing them" - when in reality they were squawking prior to that, which is why we walked over to them in the first place. Birds like calm speaking as well as music, what is "torturing the birds" is the fact that there are three of them stuck in a cage, repeatedly saying "out". Just a lesson for the manager and employees, there are nicer ways to word things. Instead of shopping here, adopt or go straight to a reliable breeder. - The only worker there that is super sweet is Mew; they're incredibly lucky to have someone as nice and personable as her. read more

Bought a frenchie puppy for over $4000. Was told was in perfect health, came from a great breeder and they had a health guarantee. Dog turned out being deaf, needing nasal surgery, and had Gerardia(had bad diarrhea and took a month and a half to stop it). My vet confirmed all and also told me she was much younger than the store let on. Looked into her breeder. She has numerous violations from the usda for inhumane conditions and not getting her animals necessary vet care. Doesn't sound reputable to me. Had to take a day off of work and drive to their vet to get a second opinion from their vet (initially they wanted me to drive 4.5 hours one way for a BAER test). After over a month of proving all this, caring for the pup, cleaning her poop, and my kids and other dogs are attached, the only thing they will do is trade her in for a new pup, as though she is a broken refrigerator. They confirmed they can't resell her. Story constantly is changing about what they would do with her if I did bring her back. Sketchy! I live my new baby but she is a nightmare to train and I have to bring in the professionals to help me. They offered me 3 group training sessions 1.5 hours from my home at 6pm at night. Group training with dogs that can hear and only 3?!? That is about as effective as sticking a tampon in a dam! Not to mention that conflicts with my work schedule and the 3 hour round trip drive with a non potty trained puppy with diarrhea. When she gets a couple months older she will need nasal surgery. There is another $1500. Matters are only made worse by the fact their staff have been rude to me, even messaging me on social media, and pet solutions their organization hired to solve their issues has had me in tears at least twice. Needless to say, non reputable breeding, they don't stand by their products and rude, Rude, RUDE! This place is awful! If you must buy a pup, get one from a breeder and go their personally! I recently bought a Neapolitan Mastiff from Petland of Topeka took it to the Petland vet for it's free exam to find that it had ring worms. Later that week the puppy developed Cherry Eye You can see it in the photo. I was told by the people in Petland that Solutions warentied the puppy so I called Solutions who did not uphold the warranty and pay for the surgery or compensate me for the broken puppy. So now I have a very expensive broken puppy and broken promises. read more

We called in the morning to say that we wanted to adopt one of the dog. Then they made an appointment at 7pm. We arrived there at 5:30pm but they let another person to adopted it and they have already done the paper stuff without calling us. Then what's the purpose for the appointment? This Petland deserves good recognition. I've been here a few times since winter of 2015 and ultimately purchased my french bulldog from there, and it is one of the best/cleanest Petlands I've been to, including in Kansas City. They also have a much bigger selection of puppies than the others. The staff has always been very friendly and helpful, and the manager couldn't be nicer and more accommodating. We never felt rushed when spending time with the dogs. Prices are also a lot cheaper in some cases than the Kansas City stores. Staff can come and go, but when I was last there in August 2017, it was great. read more

There were nice staff, there was one man, who socialized with us, and talked about other things in the mall. however... there was one woman, who worked at the desk, she looked like maybe the manager or something, but my son was playing with some tennis ball launcher and when he put it back, he put back the tennis ball with it, but he put it inside the barrel because that's what he thought it should go, and this woman rolled her eyes and walked over to him and said, "is that where it goes?" Something has gone wrong at Petland. This used to be a respectable store with reasonable customer service. I'm extremely disappointed, however, in our recent experiences there. Customer service had gotten less friendly and helpful since the move to the Mall, but it was still at least acceptable. Recently, however, we purchased a small pet that died less than 48 hours later and we were refused a refund ($20) from Scott who said he was a store manager. Scott offered a replacement pet but avoided answering my question about getting a refund until I absolutely forced the issue and asked, "Is it store policy that you will not offer a refund on pets?" He finally replied "Yes". We were told we should have purchased a warranty and when I said we were not offered a warranty at the time of purchase, Scott said, "Yes, I understand and that is why I am offering you a replacement." Later, Scott had the audacity to say, "Well I don't know that you weren't offered a warranty." Really? That's a lot of bad mojo to drum up over what could have been a simple and good-faith $20 refund. Buyers beware - this guy ain't here to keep your business after you've spent your money. read more

We purchased 2 guinea pigs recently. Both female. We've had them for 2 months now and one of them gave birth and the other looks like she's about to pop. The fact that they are selling piggies that could be pregnant is ridiculous. They are lucky that these pigs went to a home that is able to accept the babies and love them. If I had been an owner that couldn't handle them or if they had passed away because of the problems with the pregnancy I would have been furious. SEPARATE YOUR PIGS BY GENDER. read more

Okay so not even a week and I have had so many issues. I bought a Pomeranian she started having seizures the second day I had her took her to my vet. Because I am in manhattan and the petland vet is in topeka it was not covered. She then started coughing. Well she has kennel cough and giardia according to vet in Topeka. A 3100$ dog and she is sick. Started having seizures again tonight and can't be low blood sugar because I let her eat freely as well as paste. I'm very upset that now my other animals are at risk and my new puppy is sick. I will be very reluctant to ever go back to petland. read more

Hard to sell a lizard when he looks like he's in bad shape. Perhaps turning on the heat lamp could be a starting point. read more

We picked out a Terrier dog there. Purchased her, but couldn't take her home until her kennel cough was gone. 4 days later they said good to go, we went to the vet that they send people because it's free of charge. I explained to the lady I believe she has kennel cough she sent us home and she gave me a round of antibiotics without looking or listening to her. And sent me me on my way. Today she is wheezing really bad, of corse it's a holiday so nobody is open. They should NOT have let her go. I bought this dog for my daughter and will be devastated if she won't make it. Petland has 20 year olds working there not knowing what the heck they are doing. Very sad environment . This dog cost thousands. What is wrong with this place.
