I just moved to the area and went to check out the stores that are around, well I had an awkward and uncomfortable experience at petite cellars. The behavior during my visit made me feel extremely uneasy. A young man working appeared to be intoxicated as he was slurring his speech while asking to help me, and the way he interacted with me was unprofessional and made me very uncomfortable as a customer. I came in expecting a normal, professional experience, but instead I felt awkward and unwelcome. Regardless of what was going on, customers should be able to shop without feeling uncomfortable or intimidated as he was pushy to sell me on stuff or get me to try something. I felt bad for the other associates at the store as they made eye contact with me with the look of I'm sorry and as I checked out I got the sense the employee at the register was embarrassed and disappointed as I would be too as this person who is obviously a manger and boss of sorts to the other employees. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this store and will not be returning, its worth the longer drive to avoid this place. read more

Great selection, and knowledgeable staff, as in, I asked if they had a specific wine, they had one bottle and had it in my basket in a minute or two (it would have been a needle in a haystack for me-huge selection) and when I mentioned that I had been hoping for two bottles, did they have something similar? They found a very similar match that was less expensive. Friendly ambiance, talk to the staff if you're overwhelmed by options. read more

One of the most extensive collections and offerings around neatly displayed. Educated helpful staff, tasting room for events plus tasting samples on weekends. In upscale turf valley area next to several great restaurants and Harris Teeter. And they offer my favorite, Wisher Beet Vodka. read more

Young man answered the phone and insisted that their website was working properly--that I was not typing "moscato," "white wine," and "beer" into the website properly. Very politely called to report it. He was very arrogant. Called back and thought I had gotten someone in charge. The older woman handed it back to the young boy and he was like "we're not going to fix it in 10 minutes" and still had the same snotty attitude. My family spends a lot of money there when we go, but no more. Good luck calling the store and getting someone friendly and competent. read more

My wife and I decided to come here after seeing good Reddit reviews. After filling our cart with several items I noticed a checkout person staring at me intently on her tiptoes. She continued to do this as I shopped and apparently wanted me to know that I was being watched. As I was wearing a T-shirt and shorts (and no bag) I don't think should I have fit a normal shoplifting profile. My wife also had none of those elements and was walking with a cane due to recent surgery. Needless to say this made me very uncomfortable and unwelcome. I don't know if this is normal "service" or just the rude behavior of one errant employee, but we found nothing particularly compelling here (price or selection). We won't be back. read more

HUGE selection. Great, reasonable prices. Knowledgeable staff who you can find chiming in on Reddit... I like that. Worth getting on their mailing lists. Their barrel picks are great, it's cheaper to get a barrel pick here than a regular bottle from the VA ABC... I have bought Buffalo Trace, Knob Creek, Makers, Elijah Craig barrel picks by the case. All positives, no negatives. HIGHLY recommended. read more

Excellent selections... Petite Cellars happens to be caddy corner to my favorite restaurant and I am glad I stumbled upon it. Getting on their mailing list and receiving their promotional offers are a welcome email for me. I registered with them as a regular they continue to reward me with discounts. Wide selection, well stocked shelves of all types of sprits. Fun store. read more

I am so happy to have such a nice store in the neighborhood. They are still gearing up, so some items are not yet in stock, but the selection of liquors and craft brews is still impressive nonetheless. They have quite a few selections of whiskey and scotch in the back right corner - I'm not a huge fan of either, but I noticed several highly regarded names based on conversations with friends who are. They have several bottles of gin I have never seen before that I am looking forward to trying in addition to old standards like Hendrick's and relative newcomers like Bulldog. They also have some trendier items like Firefly sweet tea vodka, and Mama Walker's blueberry pancake and bacon flavored vodka, proving that you can appeal to all palates without devoting an entire wall to Pinnacle. They have thoughtfully selected, quality reds and whites in a reasonable price range but the selection isn't huge - not that it has to be to get a quality bottle at a good price. I could be wrong, but it looks like they are going to stock a large selection of high end wine. I wandered into a sizeable cooler with mostly empty shelves and a few bottles of Phelps Insignia stocked. The very friendly and helpful staff mentioned they are still getting a lot of items in, so I imagine the room will fill up soon. That said, I already like what I see and plan to return regularly. I have yet to go in and not be greeted by at least two smiling faces who offer to help. This is a great addition to local area - be sure to check them out. read more

I've tried to give Petite Cellars my business over the last couple of years, having bought quite a few things from them, but recently their pricing has taken an unfortunate turn. For instance, saw they had Bowman Port Finish for $99. The "other" shop just down the road had it for $39.99. That's just insane. To PC's credit, I let them know of this pricing indifference and the next time I went in the Bowman was priced adequately. More recently however, during their Bulleit tasting event, they had Bulleit Barrel Strength for $65. That same shop down the road had it for $43. If that shop can turn a profit selling it at $43, then PC is just being egregious and taking advantage. I sent them a message regarding the Bulleit pricing and this time did not receive a response. They are probably tired of me. I've left with some good finds before and have received some damn good customer service, but ultimately the almighty dollar speaks way louder. I don't feel confident buying from them thinking I did so at a fair price. If they price their bottles with MSRP in mind, I may be back. read more

The staff here are all very friendly and knowledgable. For the most part, all their recommendations for wine, beer, and liquor have all been excellent depending on the occasion. There are still a decent amount of empty spaces on the shelves but I expect that to change as time goes on. Their prices are competitive (for the most part) and they carry several unique selections that can't be found nearby. My favorite part is the instant (well 5-7 min.) wine chiller and I have yet to see that in other liquor shops. I always hate when I'm on my way to a party and have to bring a room temperature bottle of white/rose/sparkling wine. That's no longer the case! read more

Very knowledgable staff with the wines. Their recommendation on lesser known wineries is great... for the palate and the wallet. Good beer selection as well. My go to in Ellicott City. read more

Very happy that this is close to our home. The staff is always friendly, helpful, and the shelves are well organized. Liquor and wine is always well stocked and there is a great selection. Prices seem comparable to other stores and my husband has enjoyed sampling new brands of rum. We are a part of the rewards program as well which is an added incentive to shop there versus other liquor stores in the area. They have tastings and such which we will take part in once I am no longer with child. read more

Janae (spelling?) provided me with a fresh new perspective on wine drinking. she is an actual licensed sommelier and has a very strong technical approach to wine. be sure to ask for her input if you visit! you won't regret it! read more

The staff is super helpful--and know a lot about their selection. They have a very large selection of gluten free beers and cider. I have celiac disease, so I'm always scouting whats new on the market. You also get a discount if you order more than a case at a time, which never hurts. read more

Petite Cellars will now be my favorite place to buy my beer and wine. During the COVID-19 pandemic they provided a curbside pickup system which is ideal: place your order over the phone, call when you're there, they come out and grab your card while wearing a mask and staying as far away as possible, load the drinks into the trunk, give you your card back along with receipt, and you drive away. I went to three other of my "favorite" places and all required that I go inside and mill around. All of these places pack the store with very little room to walk around, impossible to keep others 6 ft away. Petite Cellars provided a great service that others couldn't/wouldn't meet. read more

This place is amazing. They have the best scotch selection I have ever seen. They have the big names, Laphroaig, Balvenie, and the like, but also things from private bottlers like Exclusive Malts and Compass box and Montgomeries, and large selections from each. Their staff is extremely helpful and if someone does not know an answer, they will get someone who does. I attended a class of theirs, which they host in their own classrooms, which is amazing, because other classes from other stores are held in restaurants and other venues, which do not give the private feel, like they do here. My wife is a huge wine drinker and their wine people are perfect, able to help us pair wines or just pick something new that fits our tastes. After only 3 visits they already know us, which is wonderful. We are not huge beer people, but they do seem to carry a large craft beer selection, have a massive cooler and growlers, if that is your thing. This store is a must for anyone who loves a great selection and helpful staff. read more

If you ordinarily shop at Pine Orchard, you haven't discovered this place. They're very helpful and the prices are about the same as PO. Plus, PO is now rationing which Petite Cellars is not doing read more

I agree that Petite Cellars has a great selection of wine, beer and spirits. Staff is also helpful. For a single customer they do well. But don't ever arrange to bring a group there. I arranged with management months before to have my social group stop by after a brunch at local restaurant. They lost 28 potential customers that day. Poor communication and customer service. read more

Pound for pound for pour this is the absolute best liquor store! Moderate sized store with extensive and complete selection. Friendly staff, great service, and terrific prices. I've been driving here from Virginia for 4+ years. By far the best Scotch selection anywhere near DC and Baltimore. Bourbon, rye and other liquor selection is excellent also. Outstanding customer service, very knowledgeable. Prices are cheaper than VA ABC stores. Im a curmudgeon, but if you love Scotch, ryes and bourbons, this is definitely worth the trip. read more

New to area... great selection and service. Looking forward to trying their recommendations. We will be back!

Petite Cellars is my new favorite liquor store. The are a little bit out of the way for me, but absolutely worth the drive for such a fantastic whisky selection. Their wine room is gorgeous, and the whole store is very nicely laid out and has a nice design. They also offer a ton of craft brew selections, cigars, and delicious artisanal chocolate truffles! Clearly they have identified some of my favorite indulgences. The staff is very knowledgable and helpful, and their suburban location has easy parking and a convenient location next to a grocery store. They also have some great tasting events. read more

Clean, well organized, wide aisles and helpful staff await you at at Petite Cellars. They are more than happy to help you select wines according to your budget. They have a great selection of beer and wine. If you are a regular wine drinker but find the process of cruising the aisles and trying to select from different wine types, brands, and prices overwhelming, they have prepacked, mixed cases that you can buy. Sometimes it's best to leave the picking to the professionals. read more

Great liquor store. Very clean and organized. Best part - make your own 6 packs!

one of the best selections of whiskey, particularly bourbon anywhere. organized very nicely, prices are fair but not extraordinary but given the vast selection, you can shop here for everything almost. some brands not carried, especially some of the Buffalo Trace products, but very nice store. bought 2 bottles and paid good price for both on our selections. read more
