I was walking around the Columbus Market, and noticed Pete's Pizza after walking out of the Amish section of the market. A slice is only $3 so i figured i'd give it a shot. The booth looks super old school, everything from the menu board to the stacks of pizza boxes. I ordered a slice from the guy at the counter, waited a few minutes and got my slice. It wasn't a huge slice, but it was thick, a bit doughy with lots of sauce. The sauce was the best part of the pizza, there wasn't much cheese. Pretty good snack for $3, probably a good meal for two if you order the half pie for $14. read more

Just as I remember it when I was a wee lad. The truck used to come to my neighborhood on Fridays when I was a kid (in NJ), and on Sunday, I'd visit the market and have it again. I was visiting several beaches in NJ, and I figured I'd take the short hop across the state to my old stomping grounds, and well, it was a Saturday afternoon, and I'd been thinking about getting pizza every day since I hit the state line...so I made today the day. This pizza isn't for everybody, but it actually was a hit for my partner. And it hit me right in the nostalgia. Staff was friendly, the counter was clean, and for $14 we got half of a pie and a soda! It was enough for two people for sure. If you like sauce, this is the place for you, as it is on top of the cheese as tomato pies are. read more

I got this recommendation from my cousin who swears by this place. I honestly didn't have high expectations because sometimes these type of places in the suburbs don't live up. This one however lived up to all expectations! They make one type of pizza and they make it well. I love the fact that it is heavy on the tomato sauce! They have a unique style of pizza in the area called tomato pie. It is served with the cheese on the crust and the tomato sauce on top. I am a huge fan of it and they have perfected it here. The crust is also not too thick but holds up well to the sauce. The sauce is on the sweeter side but it is addicting. So awesome. It is what I'd call Sicilian style but it's not that thick, heavy taste. It's located right next to the Amish Market at Columbus Farmer's Market. I've had this pizza before and it's always been great. It's similar to the famous legendary L&B in Brooklyn. However, tonight it was a disappointment. The cheese under the sauce wasn't melted. The crust tasted undercooked and soggy. The sauce was overpowered with parmigiana cheese. Perhaps it was because we picked up a pie around closing time (8PM) but next time we have a craving for this style of pizza we are going to the place on the other side of the Columbus market. read more

Located at Columbus Flea Market right next to the Amish Market is Pete's, a simple, no nonsense Sicilian style pie. Pete's offers pizza, including a few topping options and soda. Slices are $2.50 and whole pies are $20. Service ranges from gruff to friendly. They can get super busy so I get they need to keep things moving. The crust isn't super thick, the sauce is simple and the cheese is sparse. While it is certainly a simple pie, all the components work together perfectly and it is too easy to eat a few slices at a time. There is another square/rectangle pie place located in Columbus Flea Market: Kate & Al's. While K&A's pizza is fine my preference is definitely Pete's. I like the crust and sauce flavor more. Pete's sauce is slightly more sweet and I enjoy that more than acidic sauces. Why not stop by and have a taste test? I've been eating Pete's since I was 3 years old. I'm 20 now and I never stop craving it. Pete's is located in the Columbus market right next to the Amish market (Don't forget to stop in there as well). Their competition "Kate and Al's" Is all the way down on the other end. Now if you've been eating at either of these establishments for a while you can vouch that one of these places are better then the other. For me I will always stick with Pete's. Pete's customer service is so much better then Kate and Al's, the women behind the counter at Kate and Al's just stare at you like you aren't there to get some pizza. Pete's always has friendly workers who make sure to take care of the customers. The crust for Pete's is so much more crispy and holds better then K&A. Don't get me started on the comparison with their sauces because K&A lost right when I had two slices from both places to compare. Cheese stays on the pizza at Pete's and falls right off at K&A along with the sauce. More room to sit at Pete's as well, better atmosphere, happier customers, clean counters, good drinks. I'm now craving Pete's pizza after finishing this review, only downside about this place is I wish they were open 7 days a week. Then again if they were I would be 400 pounds and supplying them most of their business. Pete's also only takes cash but they do have an ATM right next to their store. I highly suggest trying this place before K&A's or try them both at the same time and see which one you would prefer. read more

Now I must say I had a hard time figuring out how many stars to give them. As far as the pizza goes it's the best around. They have a special flavoring to their sauce which makes it excellent. Not a ton of cheese on top of the pizza that ruins the flavor. The problem is :The service. These are not the friendliest people and I go there often. It would not hurt to smile and say hello or develop some type of relationship with the regulars. The napkins are as cheap as they come and so are the paper plates. The pizza is not that cheap so I think if they spent a little more money sprucing the place up and giving better quality plates(I'm not asking for Chinet) that would be an unbeatable place to go to. But then it still comes down to the service. As much as this is the best pizza I've ever had the people need to be a little bit more friendly and smile. I file this place under "hidden gem". I've been coming here since I was a little girl for pizza here and as an adult who's usually not really into pizza, this place still pulls at my heartstrings. The pizza here is so fresh it actually comes form the oven to your plate (which, depending on the day could be Cinderella themed, Thomas the tank themed, checkered, or dollar-store floral). Josie, the lady behind the counter, has been there as long as i can remember and she not exactly warm apple pie. But, she is quick, mostly polite, and brings you your pizza and fountain soda. It is cash only, but this is a flea market so you should really do yourself a solid and hit the ATM anyway. You never know what you're going to find here. The pizza itself is served piping hot, crusty on the outside with a yeasty soft deliciousness on the inside. The sauce on top is a sweeter tomato sauce and has only a small amount of cheese, but the combination of all the flavors and textures really make the traditional pizza components unnecessary. This pizza is in a world of its own. I usually throw some garlic powder on it and eat hunched over the plate, since it can get a little messy. My typical "meal" here is rounded out by getting a fountain birch or root beer. Yum. read more

Forget that is a little bit more than you normally spend on a pie. Focus on the fact that pizza is delicious. They do Sicilian slices/pies ( the square slices). The pizza is so good it doesn't even need toppings. They have a perfectly balanced sauce that has a sweet hint of sugar with all the flavor of tomato. The cheese is drizzled on heavy so it stretches when you bit into it, but doesn't create that film of grease you get on other slices. I have a long time love of this place. my mother used their crust to help me teeth as a child. I went to their "mobile" location when the truck used to travel to Robeling. Recently went back. Was excited for the pizza as usual, but, I'm sad to report the recipe has definitely changed. The crust used to be delicate and light and crisp on the bottom. Honestly, it was pretty heavenly. The pizza I had recently the crust was more dense and heavy and hit the stomach like a sinking brick. Not sure if the restaurant has changed ownership during COVID or if they changed the recipe to cut costs, but, whatever it is IMO they should switch back to the old recipe stat. read more

For those of you (like myself) that werent sure exactly where this is, Pete's is the pizza place inside the Columbus Market that is located directly next to the Amish store. I believe they are only open Thursday, Friday & Saturday as those are the days the market is open. Maybe Sunday too but not sure there. Anyway, having lived in the area for a long time I must admit I never gave this a try. This is probably because appearance wise, I was actually turned off by it. But I always noticed people at the counter whenever I was at the market. Well, long and behold I finally gave it a shot based on the few other Yelp reviews I saw. I must admit it was VERY, VERY good. Now, dont expect a round pizza like you get from a pizza store. The crust is soft (not crispy) and thick (since its sicilian). Its almost like something you could make on your own at home - but much, much better. The cheese is minimal since its a tomatoe pie, not pizza. But the sauce... oh my... the sauce. This stuff is phenomenal. I don't get how they do it.... but it is AMAZING! If this stuff came in a jar, I would buy it and eat it straight. ITS THAT GOOD. Price wise, the slices as of last I lookd were $2/slice and a whole pizza of 10 sicilan slices (rectacngle shape) is like $17. Its a "tab pricey" but given they are only open 3 days a week and the rush they get on the day the market is open... it worth the premium. Plus you have to remember sicilian pies at your local pizza place are often more than the regular pizza anyway. One of the most surprising spots in the area. I have been coming to this market for years. Usually I get a coffee or baked goods from the Amish area. I never thought to try the pizza. This weekend I was hungry. There are so many options to choose from. However Pete's had the longest line. I figured I would try it. It can't be that bad right? We ordered 3 slices. They only come in plain pepperoni and one other version. The pizza came out piping hot with sauce on top. Sicilian style only. Wow I was blown away. The sauce is amazing. Real tomato flavor.
