I will say that I haven't been here in quite awhile but they have a great Sicilian pizza... The staff has always been helpful and very friendly... Been going to Kate & Al's Pizza since I can remember even going to Columbus to shop the flea market outside and inside. They've got a signature way to make their pies, and it leaves you with a delicious, crunchy yet chewy crust all around. The sauce isn't super sweet, or over the top savory, just right in the middle is perfect for the swirls of mozzarella cheese all over the surface. My mouth is watering already. My in laws are a five hour drive away now, and can't get this beloved pizza any more, unless we grab one or two large boxes of joy and deliver them ourselves. If you visit the flea market, make sure you stop in for a read more

This is now on my regular rotation when I'm in the mood for thicker crust. The sauce is flavorful and can stand on its own. It's a thick layer but the crust holds up to it. It's not your typical pizza but more of a tomato pie with chunky sauce. Little bit of cheese. The crust isn't as thick as Sicilian and very light and airy. Has a nice yeasty flavor. You have to call well in advance because the wait is usually an hour. Don't forget it's cash only!! read more

The pizza is similar to Pete's but I like the pizza here because it's a bit more saucy. The customer service is friendlier here hence the 5 stars. Definitely will be back! read more

We were little Kids when our parents took us to Columbus on a Friday night. We always had a slice and a soda before heading home. Now we are older actually in my late seventies and everyone of my sisters and brothers asked for the pizza when they visit. Now it is just us three, but I am going to get their pizza and send it my baby sister for her birthday. I will get a pie for us too. I also remember the Ferris wheel we would ride on when we were little. read more

This pizza joint has been around the Columbus Market,.. I believe since the beginning of time! But don't quote me on That. We decided to venture out in the heat today and have a slice of Happiness, but It ended Up with a nice stroll though the market and having a Happy ending lol Biting into this Pillowy slice of Deliciousness, You will be Met with the Buttery crisp CRUNCH... of their Crust! We laughed at lunch today, because trying to Write an Accurate description, H of our "Experience" sounded like more more like an Excerpt from a "Best selling Food Porn" Cookbook... lol We ordered a whole pie with half mushroom and half Pepperoni! The cheese Pull was Great and satisfying. The slices were just about Overloaded with sauce but in each bite, you are Left with plenty of sauce in each mouthful. It truly is the Perfect combination and we relaxed under the cool AC breeze at one of their tables. I Must remember to Not allow so much time to pass by before we return again to enjoy their pizza slices. Super nice people making up their pies and Remember they only accept Cash! #CashIsKing read more

So I won't lie the location of the pizza place didn't give me the most hope because it's most definitely not a modern appearance... but don't let that sway you... the pizza was phenomenal...it's also CASH only so be prepared for that! The prices seemed a bit on the high end... we paid $34 for a large pizza... but yanno ... inflation... We ordered a large pizza with pepperoni, bacon and sausage! It was perfectly cooked, hot, and honestly mouth watering . I have to address that they had accidentally made an extra order and they offered 2 extra pizzas to us so that they wouldn't go to waste! We were able to feed two extra families in our neighborhood which I thought was amazing! I love that they asked if they would go to a good use instead of the trash! Overall.... This place lives us to the hype!!! I will be a repeat customer! read more

Best NJ tomato pie. Completely underrated. I bring friends from out of state and they say the same thing. The sauce is very flavorful with the right amount of cheese which isn't too thick. The crust is spot on for texture, crunch, and buttery flavor. All of it melts in the mouth for an enjoyable experience. read more

As usual their pizza is #1 Sicilian slices. Their service is the best it gets with so many call in orders you still get your slices promptly. It's the Columbus Sale with past renovation from past fire. There are a few tables of 4 seats. read more

Still say they have the best tomato pie. Been buying 3 pies at a time for 40 years. 1 while you are there, 1 for the ride home, 1 for the fridge when I get home. Still haven't figured out the secret. The best! read more

Truly impeccable. The taste, the crisp and the overall deliciousness was sublime. I love a cheesy pizza so I was initially taken aback by the amount of sauce on the pies. However much to my sweet surprise, it turned out to be one of the best pizzas I've ever had. The wait for 4 slices was 20 minutes and a pie was about an hour. I opted for the 4 slices and would have waited for the pie had I known about the hype. Very limited seating indoors but in nicer weather, there are benches outside, hence my 4 stars. In fact, there were so many people standing around anxiously waiting for their orders. Maybe a large TV could have been good entertainment? Good thing is that they were fully staffed and although swamped still super friendly and treated everyone nicely. Columbus Flea Market was a treat but this place topped the cake! Sorry too delicious to post!! read more

Straight forward take out, one style , square , deep , solid sauce , lightly sprinkled cheese. Almost the same as Pete's across the parking lot, slightly sweeter sauce. Both are delicious and old school. Take 2 home now Or 1 from both and compare. Not to be missed by pizza freaks. read more

They've been making pizza here for 66 years so we decided to give it a try. Cash only spot. Paid $20 for a whole pie. Waited about 25 minutes. Delicious grandma style pie. Crust was airy and crispy. Tomato sauce was perfect. Gooey mozzarella cheese. People were nice. read more

So here's the simple thing to know about this counter pizza place. If you want a plain slice you will get it pretty quickly. If you want pepperoni in it, forget that, they make you buy a 5 slice half pie. Like putting 2 pieces of pepperoni on your slice is at least a 30 minute wait. At least, I think we waited 34 minutes while dozens of plain slices were handed out to whoever wanted them. They take call in orders also so expect to see like 10 empty boxes on top of the ovens with names written on them that they fill one at a time.(Including your half piece order if you ask for pepperoni on a couple slices) Would take them 1 seconds to just add some to a plain slice and toss it in the oven for a minute but whatever. It's hillbilly nonsense going on at this place. The pizza is pretty decent once you get it. Wet and sloppy but that's their style. This place is in a dirt mall type flea market setting so don't expect more than no frills.examole- instead of dollar store toppings shakers they took old empty baby food jars, drilled a hole in the cap and fill them with hot pepper flakes or oregano or whatever. Made it look extra stingy for no reason, like just walk a few stalls down and buy actual shakers in the flea market. Anyway Pres gives them a 7.4, I'm going 7.2 for the 34 minute wait for 5 pieces of pepperoni added to 2 slices. read more

Kate and Al's has a reputation for great pizza. It's not your classic pizza but a unique style of square pan pizza reminiscent of the famous L&B in Brooklyn. The place is located inside the Columbus Farmers market and is takeout only. There are 2 long picnic benches just outside the door where you can sit and enjoy. They primarily sell full and half pies but no matter how you slice it (pun intended) it will run you $2.50 a slice. It's also cash only. The pizza is never greasy and the sauce is made just right and not salty or sweet. I recommend ordering ahead or placing an order and walking around the market because it's typically 45 minutes or more for a pie or half pie. read more

Kate and Als always delivers a a primo tomato pie, been customers for last seven years since we moved here. Never disappoints!

Who comes all the way to a flea market in Columbus, NJ for pizza?? Well apparently a ton of people do - because if you happen to be here on a Friday night there is not just a wait for pizza, but they literally run out altogether! As other Yelpes mention, just get a whole pie. I know what you are thinking, I too was once naive like you and thought, but what if I don't like that strange saucy concoction? What if I need more cheese? Listen, don't be a fool, get the pie - thank me later. I have been to the best places in the world for pizza - NYC, Chicago, Italy and let me tell you - this is great freaking pizza. They make it in cake pans, so the dough is fluffy and light, but with a crispy edge from where the cheese melts. The tomato sauce can only be described as laced with unicorn dust and an old Italian mother's spit - it is so damn good. For people complaining about customer service - this is a literal flea market pizzeria in south jersey - not the Hilton - just order, pay and enjoy. I am only sad that it took me this long to actually come here. read more

Delicious, doughy, chunky tomato, Trento tomato style pie. You must not miss experiencing this pie. Awesome, as usual. A completely different tomato pie experience. read more

I love coming here for their pizza because my boyfriend craves it every time and it makes him happy. The pizza is very fresh and the tomato sauce is so sweet and good. We got the pepperoni and sausage pizza. We called in advance as it can take up to 30 mins for your order to be ready. This makes sense because they have to prepare it fresh so I recommend to call early. The pizza is pretty pricey as the whole box cost about $28 and they only take cash. Lastly, the service is ok. If I'm in the area, I will get the pizza otherwise I don't crave it that much. read more

So, this is kind of difficult for me to say definitively but I think this might be my favorite pizza. If not, it is surely in my Top 3. Let me start by saying that this is nothing I take lightly (I have a pizza tattoo). The only other job I've ever had was working at a pizza place. If I had my way, I'd eat pizza every day. This is one of the most unique pizzas I have ever had and there really isn't much to say besides it is absolutely phenomenal and I would even go as far as to say this should be a pizza destination akin to Santillo's in Elizabeth. I suppose of you don't enjoy Sicilian style pizza the. It may not be for you but if you are discriminating against different styles of pizza then I would ask "Do you even pizza, bro?" The answer is probably no. I think what makes this place so great aside from the fact that it is delicious, is that it embodies a simplicity and consistency that is hard to find elsewhere. I really get the impression that their whole operation is one of constant repetitions like how Larry Bird practiced free throws. I love this pizza and I will eat an ungodly amount of it every time I get the opportunity. read more

Kate & Al's Pizza - Large Pie - Pizza Near Me - Columbus, New Jersey

There's a rivalry between people who like Kate & Al's vs. Pete's Pizza. I can't be the judge of that feud just yet. I can't seem to eat at any other stand but this one. Slices are $2.25. I can tell you now, it makes much more sense to buy a pie. It's addictive and you'll be upset for not doing so. This pizza is mind blowingly simple. Tomatoe Sauce, Cheese, Crust. Why is it so good? The old square pans they use, is my thought. This is the only Sicilian style pie that's managed to have a thin buttery crust, pillowy dough, and a layer of sauce with cheese that isn't heavy. I've easily eaten a pie myself. Yes, it's that good. If you're looking to have toppings the only way to snag them is on a pie. Luckily, you can call them up and order a pie before you pick it up. This place does lack in service when they get busy and it's cash only. read more
