When I was 15 I came here for multiple appointments to get two veneers done. When I sat down the dental nurse approached my face with a syringe for numbing.... I was confused on why I needed this for temporary veneers so I jerked my face back and asked nicely why this was needed. The nurse responded "you need to be numb" I asked why ask and she just repeated... so I asked again then she responded "for the procedure" at this point I was extremely confused so I asked what procedure. We went back and forth for a little with no change until she told me the medical name of the procedure which i didn't understand and once again we went back and forth while she repeated the medical name to me. At this point I began to get scared and started crying and yelling which then the dentist stepped in and also repeated the same thing to me. Finally they explained that they were going to be using a laser to melt off a bit of my gums. THIS WAS NEVER EVER BROUGHT UP TO ME UNTIL THIS INCIDENT. I even turned to my mom and said "i thought i was just getting temps" SHE RESPONDED "me too". They sent me home with anxiety pills so I can come in a different day to get the producer done. sorry for the long story but details are important. OVERALL VERY SKETCHY PLACE.

We met at a continuing ed course in Southern California (yes, those thrilling weekend getaways where we learn about root canals and try to stay awake after lunch). For a year, we treated a guy in his 30s who'd lost more than a few teeth. And during that time, I realized something: Scott is that guy. The one who's calm under pressure, insanely smart, and actually listens--to both patients and colleagues. He's the kind of dentist who somehow explains complex stuff without sounding like a robot or a YouTube tutorial. Oh--and he used to teach at the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine. I'm not saying the course instructor was bad, but let's just say Scott was the one dropping the real gems. Look, Scott's not the bargain-bin option. And thank goodness--because you don't want a discount pilot or a budget surgeon, right? Same goes for teeth. I have never been to a dentist that knows how to communicate dentistry to their patients in such a technical way, and with enough detail but in such a way she makes it easy to understand. She'll customize your treatment to any goals you have- homeopathic to traditional western- she's so extremely knowledgeable about all levels. Here's the situation: I had a tooth that had a root canal 10 years ago that got a cavity under the crown and my gums were in terrible shape around this tooth (I had no idea, I didn't feel a thing). I came across Liz at the right time, and I am so very glad that I did. I switched to her practice after getting my second opinion from her- she really spent the time to describe to me the different approaches and the different potential outcomes. She and her team made sure that we had a solid plan to give this tooth the best chance of survival (and by the looks of it, you wouldn't think it could have been saved). She worked with SUCH precision, and such a steady hand- I felt confident the whole way though the first portion of the procedure (getting the cavity filled and gum infection lasered)) - She truly LISTENED to my concerns and addressed each one... and took the extra time to ensure that the cavity and surrounding gums were properly prepared for the next step (a root canal re-treat). Liz's referral to Dr. Soden (Endodontist) was another great one and he also worked to really make sure a thourough job was performed on this poor tooth that we were not sure could be saved. It's been more than 6 months post root-canal and my tooth and gums feel fantastic- if we've given a few more years of life to my tooth that means it's a huge win, no implant, and I think we are well on our way to this!
