Dr. Beene was a great find. I had requested a hearing test and a Nexus letter for my VA disability,…read moreand she performed hearing tests and provided the letter I needed to proceed with my claim. Her demeanor was friendly and attentive. She performed the required testing and spent time discussing my hearing loss, which included my past military experiences with loud noises. The letter she wrote covered all the bases for what the VA would need. I also learned that I could achieve better performance from my hearing aids if I made a small modification to the apparatus' dome. I couldn't be more appreciative of Dr. Beene's professionalism and her personality.

An Audiologist Who Truly Listens and Understands…read more I've been struggling with hearing issues for years, and each time I brought it up, I was told my hearing was "fine" based on standard tone tests. The VA told me this. Two other audiologists told me this. But in my day to day life, I knew something wasn't right. When I met Dr. Beene, it was a completely different experience. I didn't have to explain the VA claims process or educate her about what veterans deal with, she already knew. That alone made a huge difference. More importantly, she didn't just run a standard tone test and send me on my way. The testing itself was quite long and tiring but that's what getting to the bottom of an issue looks like. She understood that there are other types of hearing loss, like processing issues that don't show up on basic audiograms. She actually listened to what I was experiencing and used specialized testing to assess the kind of difficulties I've been living with for years. And she validated that they're real. She even offered to support my VA claim without me asking and genuinely wanted to help me get the support and tools I need, including hearing aids. If you're a veteran, or anyone, who's been told your hearing is fine even though you're struggling to follow conversations, especially in noisy places, please go see her. Or for your other hearing related problems. This is what real care looks like.

They were calling to cancel this new appointment, saying that they could make an appointment for me later that day. The office is in Santa Rosa. I drive from Petaluma and was almost there when they called. So I had to turn around and go back home, then make the same trip back to Santa Rosa again some hours later. That's two trips. When I questioned the person behind the desk the audiologist came out and said if I didn't like it she would cancel the appoiment. I need my hearing aids. I felt like they kept my hearing aids hostage. I thought that it was very wrong to charge me a "no show" fee on the same morning that they canceled my new appointment. "Do like I say, not like I do". I paid it or else I would not get my hearing aids. I was unhappy that they wanted a "no show" fee on the same day that they canceled on me. It seems to me that they held my hearing aids hostage until I paid their fee. Up until today, I have been very satisfied with my experiences at Microtone. But unfortunately, my experience there today left me very unhappy. I think the management should review this policy. And have a little more consideration for the customer.

I just wanted to put an update on my review because I am so shocked by the response of this…read morebusiness to my insurance provider. I filed a grievance not long after I wrote my first review and I finally got a response to my grievance. Basically Microtone Audiology, via their office manager lied to my insurance company in order to excuse their behavior. They said that my provider had not responded to their request for information needed to provide me with my hearing aids. The office manager repeatedly said that she tried to cool things down when she did the exact opposite with me and my dad when he called to try to help resolve things. so now to some things up, this part of the grievance has been closed, but this is far from over. My insurance company is assisting me with furthering the grievance. In the meantime, I have contacted capital Kenworth audiology, and they have been a dream to work with. I am working with them to get my hearing aids. To be clear anyone thinking of using this business should think again they have competitors in this county who do a much better job.

My experience is from the Windsor office, but still the same doctor from the Novato office. I came…read morehere with my dad and the service was poor. He didn't explain what the tests were, obviously they are to test the hearing but a little explanation goes a long way. One test specifically when he placed ear plugs and headphones he explained what the instructions were after his ears were covered. How does he think he will hear when his hearing is poor and he had the headphones which are basically canceling the noise. Explanations were poor and he seemed to get frustrated when my dad didn't understand right away. English is not my dad's primary language so I was there to help with translating but he preferred to attempt to speak Spanish when some of the words the doctor was trying to say were hard to understood in Spanish. As a medical professional having a translating service is highly required. It wasn't until half way through the appointment he asked if I can translate. Comments like "he has a big head" "I don't know if he can hear me" are not professional. I have always gone to other medical appointment and have never had to experience this with my dad. As a medical professional myself, he was rude and had zero patience. His tone changed once he started talking prices, but I do not recommend him. Explaining what the tests are beforehand and saying what he is doing should be the bare minimum. His explanations were not the most clear and he was obviously frustrated when my dad said the wrong thing or when he would hear more of the high pitched noises than he played on the computer. The test is deciphering what he hears, right? So why was the doctor visibly frustrated when my dad was pressing the button on what he was hearing. I'm more than happy to give my feedback to their patient experience if the office would like.
