    West Herr Used Car Outlet

    (15 reviews)

We (my wife and I) have used the outlet several times. We have never encountered any problems. We…read moreusually know what we are looking for, and they find what we want. My wife was looking for a Cadillac CT4 and called Junius Griffin, who has always been helpful and is our go-to guy. He quickly found what she wanted and set up an appointment for her to come in and look at it. She was delighted. A big shout out to sales manager Matthew Wager and Finance Director James ELston for completing the sale.

Well. be very CAREFUL. Read what you sign (of course) and try to test drive for at least an…read morehour... Obviously was sold a lemon. 2009 Chevrolet Trailblazer LTZ w only 66k miles. The Check Eng was reset hours prior to inspection, over 21 items broken or non functioning, Struts, Springs, 4x4, ALL Brakes, OnStar, Emergency brake, leaking fuel pump/sending unit, dead XM Satellite, dry rotted tires etc. Within 200 miles entire system went, couldn't stop. was leaking fuel, 4x4 didn't work at all, 48 hours of ownership and its on a tow truck... Call the dealer..."Well, its a used car sir?" Yes, however the items that went simply would not have passed a legit NYS Inspection the DAY BEFORE (4 Different Dealerships and shops confirmed this) They take this personally, But i'm not Mad at anyone, Im angry that i was outright scammed into buying a warranty that couldn't even be used since the items that failed within 100 miles of ownership were items covered under NYS Inspection and West Herr's own 90 day 6000 mile warranty. There were thousands of dollars in repairs needed and West Herr absolutely REFUSED to do anything about it until the EXTENDED warranty kicked in, because they wouldnt have to pay a penny for it, in fact the warranty company would pay THEM to fix it.. Only this time it didn't work. The warranty company absolutely flipped out (I guess this type of thing happens alot) and refused to touch the vehicle, claiming the vehicle "should not have even passed NYS Inspection, Much less been delivered to the customer in that shape" Needless to say i was all but ignored until the BBB and NYS AG were notified, and while the front struts and springs, as well as a rusted out FUEL PUMP SENDING UNIT (That was leaking fuel and lighting up the Check engine light) were replaced on west herr's dime, it took over a month and authoritarian involvement to get that done. And they agree the onstar and Satellite radio need to be replaced, and they would do it, but they cant find one and they are on indefinite back order. However, i'm still out of pocket a substantial amount of money for items listed in the NYS LEMON LAW/NYS WARRANTY. Now they reply to the BBB and ATTY General they'll 'Make it right by swapping the vehicle out for a different one" Sure, sounds great. However, they wont give me what i paid for the vehicle 30 days ago, and the interest, so i can trade in my 15k vehicle for 7k, and work the other 7k into a NEW LOAN... Effectively DOUBLING my payment... Umm,,, dunno about you, but thats not swapping the vehicle out, thats giving me HALF what i JUST PAID for this POS. and giving me a NEW LOAN on another vehicle. No swapping even close. swapping is throwing keys. Even better, since they want to get me into a different vehicle badly, i now have 28 TWENTY EIGHT new Credit Inquiries from lenders... effectively making my credit drop like a rock. So the moral of the story is.. Bring a GOOD CODE reader. - Some of the newer ones will tell you the time and day down to the second when the PCM/Check engine was last reset. if it shows it was reset recently.. Ask why, ask for parts reciepts. if they cant produce them, or prove installation, Run, dont walk. Let it run for at least 20 minutes. and drive at 55 or above for at least 10 mins, if 4x4 TEST IT IN ALL MODES forward and reverse. And most of all.. GET THE CARFAX and interpret it properly... Most of the "VALUE VEHICLES" are trades that have a bad carfax or are problem vehicles, youll see a lot of Dodge vans, escapes, explorers, Dodge calibers etc. all cheap and plentiful, and about half their retail as a private sale..While the price is enticing, maybe 1500 below retail, remember that in a few years NO DEALER is going to give you even 50% of low trade in book with a carfax listed accident, NOT EVEN WEST HERR. think ahead. Unless you are absolutely sure you're going to drive it into the ground then knock 20% off what they want. If you are doing what a lot of people are doing, trying to establish credit, most of the vehicles they will offer will have deplorable carfaxes. Since they can blast you with a VGC or better retail price and 24.99% interest, your intent is to keep it for 2 years and trade in with better credit and move up, with a bad carfax they have MUCH LESS into the vehicle, and ask retail, and in 2 years a non poor carfax car may be worth a 7k trade in, whereas a bad carfax car may be worth 3k on trade, and you may STILL OWE Double or TRIPLE what its worth.,, They did offer me a 2013 Ford Edge,68k absolutely filthy inside, with 2 over $2500 Carfax reported accidents on it with my trade in and almost DOUBLE the payment i have now. for $14.999 Which is average retail for one WITHOUT 2 Carfax reported accidents. so theres how it works. i appreciate the guys that work there, Steve Pankow is a great guy, Bill Burandt is a great salesman, And Jason Ball ive purchased 3 vehicles from... All good people.Limited by F&I and the boss.
