Honestly, just save yourself the time and take your car somewhere else. My 2021 Camry took damage to the rear bumper and back left side while parked, so since insurance was paying for it, I figured taking it to a Toyota dealership was the safe move.
I made an appointment and dropped it off on 9/9 after being told the rear bumper was already in stock and it'd take a week. What's the point of scheduling an appointment and dropping off a car if you're not even going to start working on it until weeks later? On my end, I personally communicated with insurance and made sure all supplements were sent over right away so there were zero delays.
Instead, my car just sat there while nobody worked on it. I got strung along with five different finish dates: promised Wednesday, then Monday, then Wednesday again, then Friday, then Tuesday, before I finally got it back on Thursday. I drive 400+ miles a week, so sitting around waiting on them cost me over $200 in extra gas just driving a rental instead of my hybrid. I could have saved all that money if they hadn't just let the car sit. I asked them to top off my gas tank for the hassle, and they ignored that too.
When I talked to the body shop manager, he tried to claim they had to "calibrate" the car. It's a base trim 2021 Camry with zero rear sensors, so there's literally nothing on the rear bumper to calibrate. When I asked about covering at least half my extra gas costs for taking a month on basic repair work, he asked "how long I've been in the industry." I told him straight up that I used to work at a Toyota dealership and that it didn't even matter how long I'd been in the industry to know a job like this shouldn't take a month. When he apologized and said "hopefully next time we'll do better," I told him no, there won't be a next time; you guys took way too long and were completely inefficient.
I work on my own car in my garage all the time (attaching photos so you can see I know my way around a vehicle). The only reason I brought it to them was because I didn't want to buy parts out of pocket for an insurance claim. Honestly, they could've just shipped me the bumper and parts, and I would've slapped them on myself in an afternoon and done a faster job.
Rude manager, fake excuses, and terrible communication. Definitely wouldn't recommend. read more
