I visited Lomax in Mays Landing on Sunday, 7/24 to look at replacing my hardwoods floors in home I…read morerecently purchased. During my visit, I spoke with a salesman about flooring options and next steps if I wanted to go with one of the tile flooring options. I was told I needed to set-up an appointment with Dave, the contractor for a measurements + an estimate. I am really not a fan of businesses that like to farm out their contracting to outside parties because things never seem to go smoothly when the company isn't involved in the entire process. I received a call from Dave, on Monday 7/25 at 4:12 pm. He asked if he could swing by. I explained that the home we recently purchased is an hour away from where we live currently and I wasn't in the area. I was over an hour away at my other home. I asked Dave if we could set up an appointment for Thursday. Dave said we could. I received a call from Dave on Thursday at 11:58 pm. He told me he had just wrapped up a job and he was available for the rest of the day. I asked if 2 pm was good. He told me 2 pm wouldn't work. At this point, I am thinking I have to be on candid camera because he just told me he was available, but when I mentioned a time, the time didn't work. So, I told Dave I would be available the next day, which was Friday between 2:30-4:00 pm. When did Dave call?? 5:45 pm on Friday. Needless to say, I visited Lomax today to obtain a refund for services not rendered. I don't think Lomax is a bad place to buy flooring from. However, I do believe that they are losing customers and business because of their contractors lack of professionalism

Pat knew this, and knew I couldn't source through him, but was extremely helpful and knowledgeable showing me around the store. He helped educate me on the differences between the options I've already selected, helped order me samples to see the difference in shades, and helped explain that Lomax is the price leader and will match competitors up to 150% with free install over a certain sq footage.... I think that was the right number? He even explained that lots of new construction owners will go with standard included options and hire Lomax to rip out and install superior products cheaper than what the builder would have charged. Really impressed with his level of support, and plan to follow up to put flooring in our unfinished spaces.

I felt very comfortable with him and his father working in my home while I was out of town and at work. My only complaint was that there was dust all over my apartment after the demolition. Mike kindly offered a credit for a cleaning service to help remedy that, which I appreciated. The tiling came out great, I would definitely hire Mike again!

I've held off leaving a review until he finished my second project because he's a hidden gem. Once people realize how talented he is, you'll have to join a waiting list to hire him. Mike possesses a true mastery of his craft. I know a lot of people that would do a good job as long as there are no surprises. Mike will do an excellent job no matter the circumstances because he's probably seen it before and knows how to fix it. He has the confidence and knowledge to walk into a room and get to work. He's not going to call his manager or google the next step. He is the manager; he is the go-to guy. Secondly, he has a good eye for design too. For my vestibule, I had an idea of what I want. I explained it in my layman's terms and hazy descriptions and he saw what I was envisioning. I didn't need to over-explain it or draw a picture. He just got it. Also, and more importantly, he's honest. He gave me an estimate and stuck to it. That never happens. Anyone else would have charged extra when they discovered the subfloor was rotted, or when they saw a 10 degree slope in the corner. Mike didn't. He stuck to what he said and even fixed a few wall tiles in the kitchen - no charge. Not to mention, his prices are a bargain. People with half his skill, wanted a whole lot more. Lastly, he's a friendly guy. I know it can feel awkward having a stranger in your home. Not with Mike. He's trustworthy, down to earth, and you'll be friends in no time.

I spoke to multiple representatives already. I spoke to the Mayslanding store manager August (who…read moreseems very helpful advocating for me), customer service representative (who could not wait to get off the phone with me and who could care less about my problems) and project Manager ( who is working the matter at the moment and seems like he will fix these issues). I believe we are getting somewhere to resolve my issues. Issues: 1. Shoe molding in kitchen, sloppy and a mess, no new toe kicks were installed to make everything level and even. 2. Front door shoe molding uneven sloppy. 3. House was left a total mess with dirt, salt from snow, dust, caulk left all over. I had to go around scraping caulk up off the floor for hours. 4. Nail spots all over trim not caulked or wood filled. 5. Closet door taken off to put floor trim in the closet, trim was never cut to leave a gap to be able to close the door. Installer advised either someone's has to cut the trim or cut the door and never reinstalled my closet door. 6. I was under the impression I would receive new modern square air vents to match the floor. On day the installation was complete, I texted my estimator to ask where the air vents were cause I never asked to have them taken off the quote. Apparently he never added the air vents to the overall project. How am I suppose to know that. Great time to find out after installation is complete. The customer service agent I spoke with advised me if I wanted them I can pay for them to receive them. 7. I was told my by estimator that I would receive some type of molding around my fireplace, no molding was ever installed. 8. Never received an itemized quote, I asked multiple times so I knew exactly what I was getting and paying for. Now here we are after Avalon received my 13 thousand dollars, I am not receiving things I was under the assumption I would receive.l and they are asking for more money to receive my air vents. 8. I Came to Avalon flooring knowing they stand by their name and expect nothing but perfection on their job sites. The day of installation I come to find out it's a third party doing the installation. ASAP Flooring did the job not Avalon I will update this post as and if any repair work gets complete. I would never bash a store who does the right thing and fixes their mistakes. Like I said previously I think we are heading in the right direction so far.

Liam Hill was professional to the nth degree in navigating the exchange of the original floor tile we selected. The color just did not work in our home. With not a raised eyebrow or snide remark he pleasantly advised for us to return the tile. We reselected to a perfect color and all was right with the world. When we came to pick up the new tile we saw that there was a 25% discount on the tile we were picking up. Without asking Liam credited us back the 25%!!!! I ask ... who does that???? Avalon Flooring did! Accolades to this customer friendly business.

I chose Avalon Flooring to redo my floors when I bought my home in OC in 2022 and wanted something other than burbur (sp?), and selected engineered hardwood. Liam helped me select my flooring, and Chuck built the team of flooring experts for the project. The project was finished in THREE DAYS! It was incredible. Immaculately done by Flavio and team. I can't tell you how amazing this group was, start to finish. THEN - months later, I ended up walking with a friend with her dogs to the bay by a gazebo. I accidentally left my purse behind. I get a phone call from someone,... I answer it - it's Brian Miller from Avalon Flooring! He's like - I know you! You used to come into the store when you were waiting on your materials to come in! Brian brought me my purse, entire wallet. What an amazing human!? And what an amazing team of folks at Avalon Flooring in Ocean City. Thank you to Liam, Chuck and Brian for everything. Oh and Terry who runs the desk as the Admin Exec Manager is wonderful as well. Highly, highly recommend this group at Avalon Flooring to anyone looking. I know they may seem pricy at times but it is entirely worth it. I know....This review is ridiculously verbose.... it's as above-and-beyond as the work and service these guys provide.
