This applies to grooming services only. We were quoted $130 to have our Aussie Shepard bathed and cut. When I asked why it would be so expensive I was told we had to pay for an undercoat removal or the clippers would not work. This has never been an issue in the past. We were told a cut would be impossible without this service. This was an outright lie to upsell. The pet store a block away made an immediate appointment for $82. We are done with Petco. It is like dealing with a stereotypical used car salesman. Avoid! Update: The insulting auto-reply to my post from the company should tell you all you need to know. Pricing was a secondary issue. It was the upselling and outright lies that led to the bad review. Shame on you Petco! read more

Had a return via UPS / Happy Returns. Asked the kid at the register if they do UPS returns he said no. Looked to my left and saw the Happy Returns station and said well that's what I'm looking for. He started sorting through the area aimlessly. Told him forget it I'm not trusting you with my packages at this point. Train your employees. read more

Make sure you lie about your tank size when you buy a fish otherwise they pull out bogus tank size standards and refuse to sell the fish. They don't even follow their own guidelines. All their tanks are overstuffed according to their own guidelines. It's an upsell tactic worded as an ethics problem. read more

I just wanted to give a special thanks for Suzanna at the Yakima Petco. She has gone above and beyond helping me with several bird questions. She is very knowledgeable and I appreciate her wisdom. Thank you so very much Suzanna!! read more

I've always had good luck with fish. I have a large tank, good water chemical balances, a heater and filter, etc. I've gotten a total of 6 fish here and FIVE of them have died on me within the week, most within 24hrs. All of the fish I've gotten from other places are THRIVING in my tank set up, so I know it's not anything on my end (trust me, I checked EVERYTHING the second the first fish died). It genuinely feels like a lack of care on the stores part. If anything it gives me comfort knowing these fish died happy, fed and safe. I'm really disappointed at how much money I've spent here on fish, and how quickly they die. I don't have anything bad to say about their customer service or employees, but the longevity of their fish definitely has me questioning the animal care. read more

The dog grooming services are fantastic. They do a great job there. Walk in nail trims are another story. They said walk ins for nail trims are accepted but to call first to make sure of availability. I called around 9zm today and spoke with Gabriel in grooming. I asked if i could bring my dogs in for nail trimming and he asked if they had been in before. I said yes and he looked them up, rabies certificates on file for both dogs. I asked if they had anyone available for a nail trim, was it a good time to bring them in, he said well technically. I dont know what that meant in terms of availability? So i explained they said to call and ask before coming in. He said ok, so i took them to the store. They were so packed i couldnt even get to the counter to talk to them. I ended up leaving as its stressful on my dogs to be in there and it looked to me like it was a bad time. A better way for them to handle it would be for them to let you know"theres a 1\2 hour wait time" and maybe suggest a better time by checking their scheduling. I dont know how many appts they have going on. My opinion is their walk in nail trim would be difficult to impossible to navigate. Going elsewhere to have it done and hoping it runs more smoothly with better communication. read more

I sent in the on line questionnaire/app to have my 10 pound dog groomed. She was a rescue that I had found running in the street. She had a few mats. We had cut most of the mats out ourselves already. I drove across town to take her to her appointment. They felt her and looked at her and said 'OK will be two or three hours'. Before I even got out of the store they were calling me saying "we can't shave her because she has mats close to the skin. She will need a surgical shave. We can't do that because 'we're not allowed'". I asked if they could do her nails and clean her ears or even give her a longer cut. Again I was told "we can't do that we're not allowed "so we brought our rescue home and shaved her ourselves. I will never go back to Petco. They're very unprofessional! read more

Scheduled an appointment to get my dog groomed for the first time. A day prior to the appointment my dog had a vet appointment for constantly licking his foot. The vet had to shave his paw in order to see if there was anything going on. In conclusion, there was nothing going on other than matted hair on his foot. Keep in mind I have a Shih Tzu dog. The vet did shave his paw, pretty close, which I didn't think it was a big deal since the vet is the one who actually recommended me to go get groomed the very next day, in order to make sure that nothing else is wrong with my dog. Upon arrival to Petco I totally forgot his rabies vaccination proof paper and showed up to the front desk and the gal was insisting that I reschedule even though I knew I had plenty of time to make it back home and back to Petco to get him groomed on time for his appointment. She recommended I rescheduled twice. I then said what time is his appointment 330 she then agreed and I ran out the door flew to my house grab the paper made it back just for them to say well we were not gonna be able to groom him because his paw shaved too close. I will never go back to this place, in fact, I will be scheduling all my dogs appointments at the pet pantry in Terrace Heights. that is where my vet recommended anyways. Do not take your dog to Petco because they do not know how to schedule back to back grooming, and they are overbooked. And they would rather reschedule than find a solution. read more

Sold me a female guinea pig that was supposed to be a male. Only thing they would offer me was to return her.

So I completed an earlier review about this place.....this morning I discovered as I called the message has still not been updated. I refuse to bring up the website and all that crap again....I just honestly do not care if they improve or not......PetSmart is waaaaay awesome! I can honestly thank you Petco for introducing me to them and their excellent customer service skills.....(oh yeah, just in case you are wondering- THEIR business hours are clearly stated when you call, and....you can leave message to voice any concerns you want to be contacted personally for) I mean what I said above....I don't care if they change their tune.....they already lost me, my family, all my friends and all theirs - DAMN, that's a lot of people. What's even better; they will also get to share in the joy and bliss and politeness of PetSmart! read more

Never again at these groomers. Her tummy is bright red from razor burn. I know she was matted but if I had the supplies id do it better. I showed dogs for about 20 years this is unnecessary. Her poor ears will take a year to grow back to length. She's also very sad and very cold. read more

Went in hoping to look at and buy fish but when my fiancé and I entered the woman stopped us at the door to inform us "if you're just going to look around first you need to leave. You need to know exactly what you're buying first." How are we supposed to know what fish we want if we can't go in and look?? Very bad customer service, will not be shopping there again. read more

Maile the salon partner was amazing with my dog!! He is a typical high energy, everything distracts him lab. We brought him in for a bath and when we picked him up his nails were perfect, his coat is softer and shinier than I have ever seen it, and he is not shedding anymore!!!! She and Tisha are so amazing with the pets in their care. Though Jaxon is a bit loud and not well trained, they accepted him with a smile (and lots of cookies :) ) and when I picked him up, had nothing but great things to say! I highly recommend Maile for any of your bathing needs And Jaxon loved them, too!! read more

The store itself seems to be in good shape, but the animals are not well-maintained. I was working inside the store for another company while I was there and heard several comments/complaints from customers about the state of the rodent cages. One of the rat cages had 8 large rats in it and was covered in smears of urine and feces. Seeming to be the main attraction when it came to the comments, I let one of the managers know and got a snippy response of "Im aware, it's being taken care of". As I tried to further explain that people were complaining about it, she cut me off mid-sentence and told me once again (quite rudely) that "its being taken care of". The cage was eventually cleaned, but several hours afterward. It was explained to me that cages are cleaned once a week... Obviously if the cages are full of poop and smell horrible, something needs to be done. It was no emergency to them that this problem needed resolving, and they certainly took their time getting to it. And when they did, the young man that did the cleaning was so offended by the smell in the tank, he went and got a mask to wear. If something smells so bad that a HUMAN can't handle the stink, imaging being the PET living IN the cage. Rats have way more olfactory nerves than humans, so could you imagine living in that environment and smelling it the way that they do? I would give them NO stars if it were possible... read more

Ok, I go to Petco regularly. Their fish ~80% are healthy and they do get ones that can be harder to find. The store is clean and they have a nice verity of products. But EVERY TIME I've been there I've had to look around the store to find someone to ask for help, one time I even walked around the entire store and didn't see one employe and simply left because I didn't have the time. The stores prices are high compared to other chains but they aren't awful. I'm not a picky person but every other petstore in the area I get asked to be helped almost instantly. read more

It's difficult to even give thenm 1 star but this app gives me no choice. I DO NOT recommend this place for dog grooming. I was sent an email & got a phone call asking when I was bringing our dog back. After getting him updated with his shots I called (tried) them back. EVERYTIME I have called them I get put on hold immediately after requesting the grooming dept. When someone finally picks up my call I have been told EVERYTIME "we are so busy right that we'll have to call you back" and then they don't. No matter who I talk to its ALWAYS the same script, and I mean script!!!!!!!!! There are other places in town but if you like being put on hold & told the same story everytime then this is the place for you, not me. The first time they did an ok job but it's not worth the wait, trust me. read more

Do not bring your Pomeranian here for grooming! We brought our little guy in with a picture of the cut we wanted (a lion cut). The groomer cut his fur WAY shorter in the back. I went into store to buy pet food. I was waiting in line minding my own business as the cashier rang out two older woman before me. Cashier was super friendly and talkative. Changed as soon as it was my turn. I said "hello" out of respect/ break the ice and Ericka completely ignored me. I didn't care much because I was in a hurry. Another employee comes up making conversation about the product I was buying while Ericka was getting my change and I noticed she was handing me 80 out of the 82 that needed to be given back. I asked her if I could please get the remaining 2 dollars and she responded in the most unprofessional and disrespectful way that she was not done giving me my change. I stood there honestly not knowing what to say because I didn't want to say something I was going to regret. She continued to give me attitude because I corrected her on the change she was supposed to give me back. I could care less about the change but PETCO you should really consider talking to your employee and explain that it's not okay for her to be talking to customers like that. It not only makes her look unprofessional but it makes the company look bad. Employees are and should be held up to certain expectations. Ericka I think you should look for a different job if you aren't willing to put your part in a job that is customer service related. read more

Staff was wonderful! Store looked great and I found everything I needed! Animals looked happy and the place had great energy.

If you are looking for a healthy pet go to Petsmart Not Petco. went there when i was looking for a Leopard Gecko, and none of their Leopard Geckos were healthy, so how do we know that their other animals are healthy, And their excuse was that they had so many of them and that there was competition going on, but why did they order so many of them? there is no excuse to have a unhealthy animal. All of their Employees had no Information about Reptiles, and If they almost everything was misleading. Go To Petsmart They have more experienced workers, Not just a 18 year old boy. read more
