My 13 year old black lab mix began bleeding sporadically from his mouth. I had called several vets in the area and the soonest appointment that I could book was over a week out . Since my dog needed medical care sooner than later, I called the Veterinarian (Vetco) at Petco across from Target. They booked me for the next day and Dr McFeeley and her staff were great. They were very attentive to my senior dog's needs, very caring , and also spoke to me like I have a brain in my head. She presented options for his issue and even did a follow up phone call. The price of our visit was more than reasonable. The 'Vetco'. Office in Petco is a hidden gem here in State College. read more

Petco - Zeke dog surveying his kingdom - Pet Training Near Me - State College, Pennsylvania

Staff is very unprofessional and rude. I had questions about a coupon that did not ring up, was then told by the manager that "that's not how coupons work". Will not be shopping at this location anymore. read more

Just so unprofessional, rude cashiers, employees aren't educated in their own company's product.

The last two times I've been to this location, my chosen dog food was still wrapped in cellophane and on a skid in the middle of the store. The food is nothing rare or exquisite. I get to dig the 35 lb bag out myself because no one is there to help. I think I'll be switching to online dog food delivery in the future. And just to be clear, today, Dec 31st, there were five skids/pallets of various pet items clogging the isle to the left of the store. Probably a fire hazard and definitely an inconvenience to shoppers. read more

What happened to this store! Just seems a mess overall. Fish department used to seem ok, but the last could times I have been there, none of the tanks look good. Never seems like enough staff. read more

The managers don't know what they are talking about and don't do anything. The store is too hot all year round and it wreaks inside! The only groomer who knows what she's doing is Jocelyn. The vet office inside of Petco is awful. They are not dog friendly and never have any appointments. The hot, wreaking store is infested with mice. It's so disgusting in there. Needless to say, I will not be going back there ever again! read more

Just went here to get crickets and after asking for help, waiting 10 mins next to the person I'm waiting for, then going to the front desk for help and getting turned away back to the people who just didn't help me, stood there for 5 more mins while they talked to their friends and said they'd be right with me before I finally had no choice but to leave because I couldn't afford to spend 20 more mins waiting on the workers to talk to their friends. I NEVER would leave a bad review on anyone or anything ever but this was actually insane to me. read more

Love the girls in the grommets! Y'all are awesome! So friendly, knowledgeable, they've always been on time and my pup loves going here to get groomed! He always looks and smells so good afterwards! So easy to schedule with and affordable! Highly recommend! Leo is a happy clean pup now! read more

With both a dog and cat, we come here regularly for pet food. We don't like to feed our animals the food you find at Wal Mart (Purina, Ole Roy, etc), and Petco always has a good selection of natural and grain free dog and cat food. We like the Wellness brand, and have always found they're prices to be reasonable here. Aside from the dog and cat food, a lot of their other items are overpriced. My wife recently bought a large cat condo online for around $70, but in here, a similar item is around $200. She also bought a new flea & tick collar here for $69 and later found it for half the price on Amazon. The customer service here is always good as they allow you to return food that your animal doesn't like. Tonight, we were helped by an employee named "Shipp"...nice man who was very helpful in explaining the store's price matching policy. Aside from the animal food, I'd recommend looking online for other pet related items you may need. Petco won't price match with Amazon.com, but you're likely to find things a lot cheaper there. read more

On August 28th my husband took our dog to have his nails trimmed and buffed, his dew claws were very long because when he walks they do not touch the ground. The dew claws were never touched by the groomer and the others were not cut as short as they should have been. I was very disappointed and due to a health issue, I could not take him back to complain. My husband refused to since there was a sporting event he wanted to watch. Today I had to have them done again at our regular groomer in Benner Township. All in all, it cost me over $47.00 in costs and tips in less than two weeks. The cost to clip nails at PetCo is extremely high too. If you take your dog to PetCo make sure you check the dog's nails before leaving. read more

My pup is always nervous going in but he was so poofy and in sure need of a trim down. His cuts at other competitors usually take twice as long and for nothing. He was so happy when I picked him up and looks and smelled so good read more

The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. A lot of the products they sell are overpriced (as much as 50% more) compared to online prices. If you're trying to buy something that can be shipped, compare to prices online first. read more

they charged me 47 after texting me that my dog was difficult and i needed to come get him bc they wont work on him. hes 15 and ive never had this issue anywhere else. seems like a common theme in these reviews which feels scammy. read more

Made a grooming appointment for early in the morning. I was exhausted but woke up to take my dog who desperately needs to be groomed. I get there and find out that the groomer called in sick. No one called me or gave me a heads up. So now I'm sleep deprived and out $20 in uber money for an appointment that never happened. This is also the 2nd time they turned me away after making me come down there. Wouldn't recommend. read more

I have a very grumpy/difficult frenchie who hates having his paws touched. I brought him to Petco for a nail trim and they did a great job. They were able to take me as a walk-in and let me know what vet records I would need to provide them before I arrived. The store associates were very helpful in helping me find the items I needed for my high maintenance pup. read more

Great Job. I take my newfie in every couple of months to get groom by Emily and she always does a great job. Tried to get other Groomers before but as soon as said the breed they wanted nothing to do with a large dog, been taking my dog here since he was one year old his know six and Emily always has done a great job with him read more

Nice selection of dog toys and supplies. I've never used the grooming service but it's always busy. My dog loves coming into the store with me and picking out treats. Friendly and knowledgeable staff who are real pet lovers. read more

Took my lab in, which is already a big deal. Cover the car seats, drive while trying to keep her in the backseat, we get there in plenty of time, hours before they were closed for the night. They looked at her and said maybe next time. Yes, the dog was excited, but never bit, growled, nothing. I think the woman was not in the mood. The other girl was like, you're not going to cut her nails? That was it. We left. I'll never shop here or bring my dog again. read more

Brought my dog in to be groomed. Have brought her here before as well. Could tell the groomer didn't want to groom her. She is a small Bichon only 8 months old. It took me two months to get this appointment and i got 5 mins down the road and she called to say she wouldn't stay still. So they can not groom her. At all. No wash nothing because she has some matted parts. I asked for maybe a more experienced groomer and she said she is the only one. read more

I'm not sure how I actually feel about this Petco, or really even Petco as a whole... for that matter. My wife and I have a small dog, some cats, and an aquarium full of saltwater fish. I mainly come in Petco for fish or fish products, so that is what my review is going to be on. I have had a saltwater aquarium for years now and I know what healthy looks like and everything but healthy looks like too. Many of the saltwater fish are in the "everything but healthy" category here. I'm half scared to get fish or inverts here due to the fact they don't insure their unhealthy fish to make it one day in my saltwater reef tank at home, where everything is healthy and thriving. Then when they die Petco is like "hmm, must be your tank." No guarantee. This I do not like. I also do not like having to go and search for someone in the aquatic section. I'm not sure what I have to do or what offering to the Petco gods that I have to do to have them send me an employee to get a fish and/or coral out of the tank. As a last note, in case a manager reads this, DISCOUNT THE BLEACHED CORAL! Nobody wants to pay $80 for something that is mostly gone and might not return. They should be like $5 with a sign that says "can you help this poor LIVING coral have another chance at life?" I've wasted more money trying to rescue these coral than I care to have mentioned. read more

I was very pleased with "Bandit" 's, my tri-colored Pomeranian, groom. The groomer was very pleasant to me before and after his beauty treatment. She said he was nice to work with. I will certainly bring him back to Petco and this groomer. Thank you. read more

Friendly staff and they do a lot for local animal shelters. There are pet adoption showings. However, their prices tend to be higher than some other places. read more

Pet grooming is insanely overpriced and poor quality. I went to another pet groomer and was told my pup was an angel whereas petco didn't cut her entire back half and still charged me full price saying she was sensitive and seemed like she might act out. I have a 9lb pup that was returned to me half-groomed and still had a bill of $55. Unbelievable. read more

I buy fish from here only because it's the closest fish joint, and I have about a 20% success rate of the fish living more than 7 days. Water sample tests by both them and my at-home kits confirm that the fish aren't dying from water quality issues. Many of the tanks in the store often have dead fish stuck to the filters (if you catch them before the crew notices). I will praise them for their 30 day money back guarantee on fish, but this doesn't cover diseases spread from their fish to your established tank. I had a stock of neon tetras wiped out when I introduced some black mollies to the tank, who spread disease to the rest of the fish. read more

Emily at was so helpful today in helping me pick out a cat harness, I am moving many states away and read a tip online about traveling by air with cats , one is to put your cat in a harness so your cat can't flee when you have to take your cat out of the carrier can go through security . Emily helped me find the right size for my cat , and gave me other really helpful tips for traveling by air with a pet , the petco team here is very knowledgeable ! Her advice was sound and very helpful read more

On June 11th, 2016, I purchased a 55G fish tank at full retail price for my new freshwater discuses. Two weeks later on June 28 I notice that the tank is now on sale for a dollar off of each gallon. I talked with the manager who was available and he pretty much told me that it is tough luck. However, the store's return policy is 60 days... So, my complaint is that it makes no sense for me to have to return and repurchase this item when all I am looking for is the sale price amount within the regular return policy. I purchase an awful lot of dog and fish supplies at Petco to be inconvenienced by a shifty manager that likes to hide behind "policy." I would encourage all Petco shoppers to carefully seek out future deals and promotions before buying, because a day later an item may go on sale and you'll have to do quite the song and dance. read more

I buy my blue moon cat food here. They always have coupons to help me save on that. Their fish department is not so great. I find myself waiting for a long time to get fish and a lot of the fish are sick..i guess thats typical of these types of stores. read more

Was hesitant at first about switching our groomers to Petco, but Ali has been great with our dogs.

The store management doesn't seem to care what kind of "experience" their clientele has. I was charged for grooming salon services I did not request, and had in fact NEVER requested. When I questioned it, I was tod that the groomer "just went with what [I] got last time.." She was looking at someone else's record, and I realized that when she told me my dog's rabies vacs was due to expire. (No, not until 2014...) I wrote a letter to the store manager,, but never got a reply of any kind. No more business for me at Petco! Oh, and yes, my dogs have come home from grooming with TICKS they didn't have when they were dropped off. read more

nice staff- but too bad there is not more education for the care of animals and fish- especially marine- it is a shame that big stores like this sell things and offer no education to their staff or customers- completely clueless staff sometimes- educate your self before buying cause you wont get the needed information from the staff :~( read more
