Please take care of your fish. Look. I know that fish keeping can be difficult and salt water is even harder, but really? I went to this store five days apart and a deceased firefish goby was still sitting in a tank decomposing. Their marine water is all on the same system to, so the water quality of all the salt water fish were affected. If you go at all, go on the days that they get their fish and corals in so that you can get them before they get put into their water. The staff were very nice, but they are a little untrained which makes issues that arise with returns difficult. Everything worked out and I can tell that they are doing the best they can- things just need to improve drastically for the poor fish. read more

We are from out of town for a family emergency and had to miss our golden doodle's grooming appointment back home. Petco was very accommodating with a last minute grooming appointment and took great care of our boy. Karlie did an amazing job grooming him. We came yesterday to use the self wash dog bath and for $20 I could only use warm water. Absolutely a rip off the equipment didn't work right I had no soap and the employee tried to fix it but it didn't work and my dog was already anxious from waiting so we left with an unfinished wash which was very disappointing. Made a trip from Anderson to Clemson to purchase salt water fish to only wait in the store for almost an hour with no help at all. I politely went to the register to let them know that we were wanting to purchase fish and she told me she had to help other people that were at the front, I said no problem we will be back here whenever you get a chance. Continued to wait with no help. Walked back to register to see three employees and no effort to help. After waiting I left and drove to the Greenville location where I was immediately helped! Will not be back to that location. It was not a busy day and they had 3 employees! I understand being short staffed and busy but that was not the case! Horrible customer service! read more

Staff was rude. I wouldn't have been so upset if they knew the values of customer service and making sure their customers UNDERSTOOD the policy's set in place. The girl was rude and had a nasty attitude towards us for no reason. The guy that she went to get was a bit better at explaining the policy's. I hate to say it was racial, but as we were the only black people in the store AND the only ones receiving rude glares and service. I've worked and been in the Pet Trade for a long long time, almost ten years, and NEVER have I been treated with such disrespect by an employee. I would like to start by stating that I am a college student at Clemson studying Natural recourses and water ecology and I have kept fish as pets since I was 12, almost ten years ago. So when my friends decided to make a shrimp terrarium I was so so excited they asked for my council. So they got set up got their shrimp only to have them pass, the lovely young woman in the fish department with long brown hair, I believe her name was Maggie gave us some lovely advice and sent us on our way with what we needed to make their 3 gallon shrimp jar with filtration the best it could be, Petco I recommend making that girl your manager she knew her stuff. My friends went back got a new batch from the manager who MARKED THE OUTSIDE OF THE BAG WITH TOXIC CHALK MARKER. The second of shrimp ate this marker and died swiftly. Now maybe she didn't realize it was chalk marker I can forgive that. However, my issue is with next employee I ran into. Long Blonde hair, on the larger side wear's a bearded dragon shirt, I cant recall her name. She refused to give my friends new shrimp however they did receive a refund, Then it was my turn I needed a return on a tetra that passed away and a ghost shrimp for my 6 gallon betta cube, she serviced me and when I asked for a shrimp to be added she said condescendingly, "is it for them?" I responded "no" because I needed it for my system. She asked again, in an even ruder tone, "iS iT fOr ThEm?!" which I furiously responded "NO, I have a Three tank system in my dorm room and I have an algae issue!" she then gave me a sneer and said "I get your frustrated its just policy!". Policy I know through and through as an ex Pet Supplies Plus employee specializing in fish. Then as I checked out She berated both my friends and I about our shrimp system saying "I wouldn't have sold you AnYtHiNg with a PROPER tank." claiming indirectly that my sponge filters were inadequate. To be honest I want compensation for how demeaning this woman was to me and my friends when she clearly had no idea what she was talking about. If Petco could reach out to me, I would appreciate it. I was very disappointed in the service and stock. I don't want to be a "Karen" and write a bad review. But to any fish parents or little kids that are eager and excited to own a fish, just skip out on this place. I waited almost 30 minutes at the fish tanks and no one was there before I decided to ask someone for help. When I did, they told me someone would be up there. So I waited another 20 minutes and I asked again. A girl finally helped me but she seemed as if I was a burden. I know I'm complicated and wanted a specific fish in a tank but I still tried to make light and be polite. I know how working for the public is, so I know it's tough. However, I still do my best to treat everyone (even the complicated ones) with kindness. With me being specific, I didn't even get the ones I pointed out (which were noticeably different and not hard to figure out). With that said two of them have died already, and I'm not new at fish care. They were not properly cared for previous to my owning. Im very upset with this place all together. read more

I have used the grooming salon at this location for a couple of years. It has slowly but surely gone downhill. Groomers don't care about the customers. They don't want to be bothered with doing their jobs. If you book a regular grooming session with a bath, they keep your dog for at least 3 hours. Prices just keep climbing. Don't dare walk-in to get your dog's claws clipped. You will be there forever. Went to get my dog's claws trimmed what a nightmare! Never going back. Sad that these big box stores have so much business they don't teach their workers to respect the customers. I guess they don't need repeat business. read more

Unfortunately, Daughter (a Clemson student) and our Lab are very disappointed in the service we received today at the Seneca/Clemson locations. The grooming staff was not friendly at all. The price we booked on our app and made the appointment was not the amount they were asking for in the stores. The prices kept climbing in the stores versus the amount were was stated on the app. They tried to blame it on the website saying it was an ongoing problem and they were not willing to accommodate the difference of only around 15 dollars. They have the most awful customer service I have seen in a pet store from the Groomer to the Grooming Mgr. to the Store Mgr. If I indeed spoke with them all, not sure I did. Instead of trying to make an asset relationship and build a business customer, They said the groomer wants you to come and get your pet because she feels disgruntled at this point. I said you have got to be kidding me, what kind of professionalism is this showing for Petco. I said have you started on my pet, she said yes but we have stopped and you need to come pick up your pet. I asked what kind of people treat animals like this. So they discriminated against my pet. Unfortunately, grooming at the Seneca/Clemson location is awful. For years I had my dog groomed at another Petco location but I relocated. The groomers here are unskilled and would rather shave a dog vs actually groom it. I had a few rude experiences with them and will never return. Petco lost a loyal customer. read more

Just tried to make an appointment for my 10lb pomapoo and was told because she is an older dog I'd need a letter from my veterinarian stating that she was in good enough health to have a haircut. I let them know that I had just taken her to the vet two weeks ago and had the paperwork stating that she was in good health but that wasn't good enough. The prices there are ridiculous and I was so upset I ended up canceling my appointment. New clients beware!! read more

Buckle up kids, I got a review that's gonna rock your socks: Saturday, 12/7/18, I adopted an extremely underweight and neglected doggy from the Greenville Human Society, (my first dog ever 100% by myself), and I was nervous as hell. SO! My first stop was this PetCo. As we wandered the store looking for a bed he liked, grooming supplies, puppy food, some chew toys, and treats, a lovely young lady who worked in the grooming department stopped me to admire Remus. As she was petting him, we got to chatting like dog parents do, and she commented on how sweet he was and how awesome his teeth were for being 6 years old. She was nice enough to ask about how long I'd had him, which was when I (very anxiously) explained that I was so sorry that he was matted and skinny and please don't think I'm abusing him or neglecting him, because I'd only picked him up from the shelter about 50 minutes before walking into the store. She assured me she wasn't passing judgement before congratulating me on the adoption and agreeing that he was very skinny, but she was hella nice saying I was doing an awesome thing and she thought I was off to a good start. She then proceeded to tell me to wait, went and grabbed a bunch of coupons, and helped me find the puppy chow that would mix best with his grown up dog food, was most highly rated, had the highest fat and protein content so that we could get some weight on Remus. She then helped me carry everything we'd picked up to the registers, where she spoke with our cashier and then she wished me good luck and went back to work. When I was rung up, I realized that she'd gotten me enough coupons for the 30$ bag of puppy food to only cost me 5$. Y'all. I almost cried, because she made such a difference to me with that small act. I wish I remembered her name so I could call the store and thank her, but she went above and beyond to help me do my best for Remus and I plan to always go to PetCo. Furthermore, the cashier up front was very sweet and helpful, informing me about additional discounts and applying them to my purchase, where she then helped me carry all my stuff, out in the cold and the rain, all the way to the back of the lot, to put my stuff in the car. She didn't even judge me when Remus pooped right in the parking lot, just laughed it off and said it happens. Both these young women were a fantastic help to me, and if they are the representatives of this company, it shows how dedicated they are to the health and well being of animals and I am so, so grateful! Grooming services are amazing! Got my Great Pyrenees groomed by summer and she did an Amazing deshed nails were super short and smooth. And she was extremely sweet !!!! Also they are open on sundays ! Great people ! read more

Hello to all of the lovely people who are going into this Petco to purchase a fish!! These people are assholes and refused to give me a fish upon request. Based off of small information they gathered of prior fish ownership the declined my request of a fish. RJ thought his small amount of knowledge topped my large experience of owning fish. I have owned over six fish that surprisingly lived pass my expectations and this Neanderthal refused to sell me a fish. More information about this facility the water they keep these fish in is extremely disgusting it is a darker green than the black lagoon and there were multiple dead fish in the tank left for god know how long allowing the other fish to feed upon their deceased carcass. My best guess is due to the lack of food these fish are provided with. No doubt over bred and ganged up on by larger fish. This is not survival of the fittest this is animal abuse. Hope you get shut down and do not receive a Christmas bonus because it is no where near earned read more
